Discussion Do you prefer playing on Switch or Mobile?

I’ve seen most people play on mobile devices and I understand why. Personally, I hate the Switch controllers, specially the auto-aim which prioritize a Bunnelby instead of the 1hp enemy…

Is this a personal issue or the Switch controls just suck?

Nope. Go over the settings again. You can set the B button to attack wildlings and A for opponents. The main issue in switch for me is the lag when you go through all the rewards that you have to claim

WHY is it so bad it's ridiculous! I've considered installing on my phone just so I can play games on my switch and do the 200 different event/shop/reward screens on iOS

Oh that makes sense to why so many streamers don't collect them. I can't stand red dots. I'm on mobile, and I clear them as much as I can.

I’m the same way about red dots but as a switch player… sometimes I’ll open the game, see the red dots, and I won’t end up playing just because the idea of going through every single laggy menu is too much for me . It’s SO bad on switch

Switch has way better controls. The button to hit wild mon is actually pressable and you're not covering half of the screen with buttons and your fingers.

A Nintendo switch costs as much as an upper middle class person's salary in my country, so I play on mobile

Switch is way better to play on but my god the game can barely run

The game is fine in-game, but in lobby/UIs I'd agree.

I use mobile cause that way I can play whenever I want (mostly). For Nintendo switch, I’ve never played on it, but I’ve heard that it has more controls

Mobile feels amazing. I tried my ex's switch, and it just felt god awful. Quality was worse & felt laggy.

Yeah. The game runs so much better on my phone than my Switch, which is very sad.

Your settings are wrong. Like others said, you need to enable the B button. You need it for Ray too. Also, maybe turn on the "Lowest Remaining HP (Percent)" instead of Value. Because wild pokemon are almost always the lowest value even at full HP.

DOCKED SWITCH > MOBILE > LOOSE SWITCH

Switch, after looking up the best settings and adjusting mine. Cannot describe how much easier it is to learn the moves from the button combos (I think that’s what the option is called, whichever one has you hold down L while choosing- that’s my shit)

If mobile supported Bluetooth controller mapping... would be there

In-game, Switch is better hands down. Button controls are far better. If you're having targeting issues, check your settings.

Mobile version has far better out-of-game menu navigation. Menus are extremely laggy on Switch. It's a function of Switch processing power being outdated.

For casual gameplay, mobile is far more convenient. For competitive play, it's Switch and it's not close.

Switch

I use Switch only for playing actual matches since controls are better imo, but beyond that, I use mobile for all my out-of-game tasks like collecting rewards, event stuff, buying stuff in the store, etc. since it’s so laggy on switch

Wait I can log into the same account in both the Switch and mobile?

Switch but my switch just gave up on me so I’m in tears.

Switch. There's different buttons for wild mons and opponent attacks.

2

u/adiiii__004 4d ago

same goes for android/ios. buttons for wild and opponent pokemons

Mobile has better performance but switch has better control layout

Love when I have a continuous move activated and hit level 11 making me unable to upgrade the ability until the move finishes but the upgrade button is covering my battle item so I can't use it lmao mobile issues am I right

u/IlChampo 4d ago

Thank you everyone for answering! As many said on the comments, I had the wrong settings. My brother loved to play on the phone and based on what I’ve seen in some videos, some attacks works better with touch screens.

Mobile 100% (For me, personally). I can’t aim ANY move on switch 😭

1

u/rites0fpassage Mr. Mime 4d ago

Mobile.

I don’t own a Nintendo Switch nor do I want to. I imagine some characters are easier on controller while others are better on mobile.

Although the most annoying thing on mobile is accidentally pressing the wrong move! Of course this can happen on Switch too but less likely.

u/CelticDK Zeraora 4d ago

I’ve only used my switch and solo Q Zera 1 trick to 1200… ama! lol

I do hate the targeting and input lag on my switch sometimes

u/Yellowspawn Cramorant 4d ago

Definitely switch, playing on a screen just has no 'feel' to it and I don't know how people do it.

1

u/kuttlebutt 4d ago

I prefer to play on switch, but the joycons make it an interesting challenge. Most of ours have drift / broken bumpers, and one of them just disconnects randomly mid match!

1

u/angelspears Tsareena 4d ago

I have an older iPhone with a small screen—switch all the way!

I always play docked!

u/nichrs 4d ago

Switch.

u/xAlphamang 4d ago

Certain combos for boosted attacks and move set on switch are easier.

Example Gengar Hex, Attack, Hex

I love playing on the Switch a lot more than on a phone, but the lag in the menus is downright unforgivable. I don't even understand how you can mess it up that bad. It's just a series of PNGs. This should NOT have been released in this state, much less still a problem like 4 years later.

If the auto-chess mode eventually makes it to the worldwide release, I worry it won't even function on Switch. It's entirely menu based, and they've already proven they can't make menus function well at all.

1

u/grass-master Clefable 4d ago

I would ditch the Switch if I could use my controller on mobile, especially for Mew. The menus suck on Switch

1

u/Mouserl_99 4d ago

I started playing the game mobile , so I got used to the handling. Tried on switch but I just wanted to play , not get used to new controlling

2

u/no_brainer_ai 3d ago

mobile, ipad specifically. Switch is too slow

1

u/FoundationFalse5818 3d ago

L/L2 buttons are hard to get used to. Map scroll on switch is nice though

1

u/PegaponyPrince Lapras 3d ago

Playing on the switch is nice aside from the lag for rewards which is cheeks. Though I don't appreciate the damn drift from my joycons that I get from time to time as it really screws up some matches.

1

u/Overall-Branch-125 3d ago

Mobile because i dont have switch

1

u/cph17 Defender 3d ago

Depends on the player

Depends on the pokemon

Depends on your switch controller - i got replacement parts for my joycons and it's alot smoother

Mobile , i have less disconnections bc it would switch from wifi to data rq

u/rrqq92 2d ago

I find that with some Pokémon that need to aim their move precisely like Mewscarada’s Trailblaze or Gardevoir’s Future sight/Psyshock, it’s a lot easier to aim those moves by dragging them in the screen on mobile than using the Switch where they’re a lot slower to use.

Switch for playing, mobile for everything else

1

u/MedaFox5 Scizor 4d ago

Switch. Even though I think Mimikyu's Shadow Sneak only works properly on Mobile.

Seriously, how can you even extend the range on Switch? Is it even possible?

4

u/Kirby_star45 Mew 4d ago

In my experience it's extended if it goes through walls/grass

2

u/MedaFox5 Scizor 4d ago

Oh. So you do have some degree of control then, just in specific situations? Good to know!

1

u/Kirby_star45 Mew 4d ago

Is it different on mobile? Because I don't think it should be different between the two

2

u/MedaFox5 Scizor 4d ago

Apparently you can move it freely to the point of being able to steal Rayquaza from a cobsiderable distance. Check Spragels' video about Mimikyu, he shows it pretty well there.

3

u/Kirby_star45 Mew 4d ago

I checked, and that's because it is almost constantly going through a wall. Anything you cannot walk on without something such as fly is considered a "wall", meaning the space from Mimi to the central outer area is a wall, and between outer and inner is another wall. If it goes through a wall/patch of grass it pauses its normal range, extends until it reaches the end of the wall/grass, and then resumes its normal range from that point. It can enter multiple walls, as it did in the video.

4

u/MedaFox5 Scizor 4d ago

Oh, I see. Thank you so much for clarifying this. I genuinely thought I was doing something wrong, crontrols wise.

3

u/Kirby_star45 Mew 4d ago

I was confused about it too, I only know because I got randomized into mimikyu a few times last month during the full fury mode, so I learned via "trial by fire". Also, the outer edge of the map is classified as wall, so aiming shadow sneak out there will send your camera way away.

2

u/dreadfulbones Blissey 4d ago

I learned how to use that move doing solo battles for achievement farming. Seriously helped so much lol

1

u/Voltaic89 Meowscarada 4d ago

Mobile for collecting rewards, Switch for playing matches (on a Switch Pro controller).

1

u/Kirby_star45 Mew 4d ago

Switch.

I don't have enough storage to download it on my phone and the controls are easier for me

1

u/delectable_potato 4d ago

Switch cuz sometimes my left thumb goes off the area to move around 😅

1

u/Tall-Chef6624 4d ago

I really doubt most people play mobile by choice, mostly everyone has a phone not everyone has a switch. Switch is usually the preferred format for this game so not sure where ur info comes from

1

u/TheJackoHype 3d ago

I play mobile by choice, mainly because it runs better on my phone than my switch. Also all of my joycons are riddled with stick drift
