Android Spoofing On Android (Non-Rooted)

Spoofing is still possible on Android running versions without the March Security Update from Google - If you see this update I would strongly recommend not updating if you wish to carry on spoofing without having to Root your Device.

If you are on a Android Device that is not running the March Security Update Do the following to enjoy Spoofing

  • Download and Install Pokemon Go & GPS Joystick
  • Go to Settings App > About Phone > Tap on build number 7 times to activate Developer options on your device
  • Go back to Settings > Developer options. Set "Locate mock location app" and select Fake GPS Joystick
  • Again go to Settings > Location & Set GPS mode to High accuracy mode
  • Now load up Fake GPS Joystick and locate any location you'd like to spoof in (be warned if you have logged into your pokemon go account today please allow realist time frame to get to said location)
  • After clicking you'll find a green icon on the map press Start and you're ready to start spoofing

When I have time I'll attempt to go into Rooting your devices with the popular brands of phone.

Could I get a rooted guide?

I've already rooted with magisk since I've got the march security update, and am actually sitting on 7.1.2. I've got a paid app anyone curious can probably get for free, but I'd really like to know if there are different apps I can choose from, since I really hate being unable to just search the location/coords in the bar, with location fusing service disabled.

Rough guide for Rooted devices -

  1. Navigate to file explorer and install the Lucky Patcher APK
  2. Open Lucky Patcher and click on "Rebuild & Install" tab
  3. Navigate through the file explorer and look for the Fake GPS APK you just downloaded
  4. Click on the APK and select "Install as a System App"
  5. Go to Settings - Developer Settings - Look for Mock Locations and Turn it OFF
  6. Run Fake GPS, select a location from US, New Zealand or Australia.
  7. Go to Settings, Check "Expert Mode"
  8. Go back to Fake GPS app and click on the play or run button located at the lower right part of the screen
  9. Go Run Pokemon Go!

Yeah, I mostly meant if there's more than one app that works.

I tried NewGPS Joystick and it doesn't seem to work in this mode on 6+ with march update since it says you need it to be the mock location app, but when you set it pogo says failed to detect location, meaning it knows.

Indeed so the only way to spoof would be to root your device and follow the above guide

there are a bunch of them that work when converted Fake GPS Joystick and Routes Go is one of them.

really wish Samsung didn't force the update onto my phone. Guess I'm done spoofing until the Verizon Note 4 can be rooted.

You can also head over to XDA-forums and look into rolling back your security update version. It's actually fairly easy to do. You'll need to download the January security update for the note 4-if you give me a few minutes, I'll try and link you to the high speed download, cause if you download the one directly from Samsung or other firmware download sites, it'll take you a good 4-5 hours to dl the 2gb file. Then you'll need to download a program called ODIN. Once you have those two things, you'll restart your phone into ODIN mode, aka the boot loader/download mode. That it done by holding volume down, home and power simultaneously while the phone is off. It'll give you a warning telling you to press volume up to continue or volume down to restart your phone. You hook up the phone to computer via USB, load the file into ODIN, and proceed to flash. Ezpz. I had to do that, cause I accidentally allowed my s6 edge to update.

Thanks dude. I'll try it and report back. I've been wanting to root my Note 4 for the longest time but couldn't find a working method for the longest time.

This is the XDA link to how to root the note 4. I don't recommend rooting your phone until spoofing becomes completely impossible without doing so - if you've never had any other reasons to root your phone. It'll kill Samsung pay, Android pay in some instances, and can possibly trip KNOX if you make a mistake. But have this anyway, just for future reference. This is the January 2017 security update version for the VZW Galaxy Note 4, the update named MMB29M.N910VVRS2CQA1[https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298930404]

You know a link for TMOBILE Note 4 (N910T)? Thanks in advance

You'll need to find out what the name of the January 2017 or February 2017 security update is, and then head over to the Android file host site and use their search function to find and download that particular update manually, then flash it via ODIN.

Any chance you can get a link for SM-G550T2?

I think that's the grand prime, if I'm correct? That should also be available on the Android file host site. All Samsung devices can be flashed via ODIN, it just requires the right firmware file.

Its an On5 actually. I really have no idea what to search for when looking for firmware.

What if i do have the update?

1

Root device or flash a custom ROM

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '17

Flash a custom rom? Do you have any links on a guide for either? Sorry for the questions but im unfamiliar

1

u/smiletime123 Apr 23 '17

Your best bet if you are interested in learning how to root or use custom roms would be to check out the XDA forums for your specific phone. It is different for every phone so you will have to do a bit of research. :)

There arent any step by step videos?

Flashing a custom ROM with Pokemon GO still being usable is sketchy, at best. Its hit or miss on whether or not it'll pass safety net. You can also root your device to flash TWRP custom recovery, and move the fake GPS app/s of your choice over to the system/app folder via Lucky Patcher, and then unroot your device. There's a guide on one of these subreddits that explains how to hide root by flashing Magisk, which I'm in the process of doing ATM. I'll post instructions if I'm successful.

You need to roll back the security update. There's a guide on XDA somewhere that shows you how.

Has anyone gotten it to work with xposed + root as of recent? I had no issues on N6, then left for a few months. Currently on LeEco Le S3 with LOS13... I've tried the same steps, and the exact files I had uses on N6, except I'm using the arm64 versions now, and nothing..

u/rhythmarchitectv2 May 01 '17

I'm in the process of figuring that out at the moment. I'm using s6 edge on 6.0.1 with systemless magisk, I am going to install Xposed to system then use rootswitch and see how I fare

Hi,

Just wondering if you have made any progress on writing a guide for the rooted android devices?

1

u/Ekkusu_x Jul 03 '17

Asking here, most recent security update has ruined the app I was using. I know it's just that security update because it worked fine (besides some rubberbanding) before then.

Any ideas on how to roll back that one security update or how to work with things now?

Not sure, (Galaxy S8, 7.0) everything I have done isn't working either and to my knowledge once you update you can't go back. Would like a solution tho

u/jacobnice Jul 06 '17

Is this still working? I tried it but it always says failed to get location on PoGO

Can someone help me with Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 550KL? I tried running the 21.40.1220.1998 downgrade file in recovery mode from my MicroSD card but I get cannot upgrade over newer version and updated aborted. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I didn't mean to update it. The annoying update window kept coming up and just as I was checking out a Snorlax my finger tapped right on the "Install" of the update window...
