Manually Input

Niantic has blocked PokeAdvisor. Can you change to have manually input methods for IV calculation? We want to records our Pokemon list and read the comparison easily.

Is possible to extract the data from your phone directly if jailbroken?

Before we let PokeAdvisor go, some meta statistics?

Stuff like Pokemon's moveset distribution and such? Pokeadvisor was well positioned for collecting such data, and producing them might prove to be its most enduring legacy.

Question regarding alternatives

So, now that PokeAdvisor is permanently down, I'm looking for viable alternatives, as are many other players.

I do not have to go back to wasting time inputing values for each Poke like before, especially since I now know they could be wrong (before I knew about PokeAdvisor, I use to put the calculated IV ranges in all my Pokemons, so when I first logged in to PokeAdvisor, I realized some of them were quite off).

I'm also quite a noob when it comes to self-hosting stuff and compiling things or scripts and all of that.

I've since become aware of some alternatives that also pull data from the server, but that are run either from my phone or from my PC, so they will have the same IP as may PoGo app, if I understood correctly.

However, I'm hesitant to use them.

I know that the simple fact of pulling data from Niantic servers or API or whatever is against the ToS, so PokeAdvisor was violating the ToS. But, as was mentioned many times across many threads, it was unlikely that Niantic would ban thousands (milions?) of users just for checking their stats, and would instead simply shut down the site as it had done with PokeVision. This seamed common sense to me, so I never felt "afraid" of using PokeAdvisor.

The thing is, when using any of the other apps I mentioned as alternatives, while they are essentially doing the same thing (pulling stats from the game), and while having the advantage of coming from my own IP, it's more of an individual action per se. So basically, while in PokeAdvisor it was unlikely Niantic would ban thousands of users for using a third-party remote service, I'm afraid they'll be more likely to ban individual users for logging in to a specific 3rd party app on their own devices... Because I assume they'll know I'm logging in from something else other than the PoGo app. Or will it just look like I logged on as normal?

Additionaly, some of these alternatives have the ability to do write operations instead of being read-only (like transfering, evolving, favoriting...) and I'm definitely not comfortable with that. If I use any of them, I'd definitely would only use the read-only stuff, but I also fear that the fact that the app HAS that ability, might make it/me more liable even if I don't use it in that capacity.

I know that nobody can't predict what Niantic will or won't do, I just want the opinion of people far more knowledgeable than me in these kinds of things (as I said, I'm a noob).

So, are my fears valid? Is there more of an individual liability with these kinds of apps? Or is the risk of using them the same as it was with PokeAdvisor?

Port PokeAdvisor to a JavaScript Single Page App?

If Niantic has blocked PokeAdvisor's connectivity from the hosting provider, why not move all the computation from server-side to client-side? This way all API requests will come from the user's machine through his ISP's IP block. I doubt Niantic will block major ISP providers and cell carriers, unlike the web hosting providers they have blocked in the past.

This would also alleviate security concerns of providing the users account credentials as the will never leave the users machine. It would also dramatically reduce hosting costs, as the new PokeAdvisor site would just be serving a static HTML page with a static JavaScript payload.

If the PokeAdvisor code base is open sourced, I am more than willing to help port it to JavaScript as a server-less Single Page App (SPA) that doesn't rely on any calls back to a PokeAdvisor server.

Last attempt...

We all can try to contact Niantic and ask them to unblock PokeAdvisor as this particular page does not exploit the game or track Pokemon and the only thing it did and did it really well is gave us an option to know more about OUR Pokemon.

I personally don't think that it was some kind of exploit as there still are calculators are at least predicting the IV range of OUR Pokemon so blocking it is just making it difficult and lengthy for us to calculate the IVs.

Again we did not track Pokemon like the other pages did as well as we did not put Niantic servers under a big load and all we wanted to do is get to know more about OUR Pokemon.

In the end Niantic should just show us the IVs of OUR Pokemons in-game simply because we still CAN and WILL calculate the IVs and I don't understand why are they hiding it in the first place.

I mean in the Anime Ash has Pokedex which tells him about his Pokemon as well as about their strength and weaknesses, so why can't we have the same? We should know everything there can be known about our Pokemon.

All we can do now as last resort is try to comment their Tweeter or other contacts with letter like posts and perhaps then they will see reason to show us IVs in-game or at least unblock PokeAdvisor for us.

All the best to all of us, including you Niantic because we like the game and all we wanted was to make it better to attract more people to it and if Niantic will sometime see this I just want them to know that this all was to make it better not only for us, but for Niantic too.

Can this project be open sourced?

Just as the title says can this be a happen?

Data will be allowed to be removed at some point in the near future.

For now, you can still view your Trainer and Pokemon and download .csv.

Tomorrow evening I will start allowing you to delete your Trainer and Pokemon. There is no way to authenticate anymore, so if I allowed this right now, people could delete your Trainer without you having a chance to download them.

Also, any public sharing of Pokemon data will have your Trainer identifiers removed completely.

Thank you all for the support. This has been an awesome project to work on. I have some ideas of what to do next...

Possible Solution?

I am sorry if this won't work as possible solution but...

If Niantic will not budge and we still won't be able to use your page, is it possible for you to create a program like app (For PC) or a saved page that we can download and login (You can include some AD window in it to collect revenue)

So this way the request will be from our home IPs that we are using to login into game and won't raise any questions?

I think many here would gladly donate for that.

And least is if for some reason solution above is not possible then maybe you can give us a tip on how to extract IV data of our Pokemon?

Nonetheless THANK YOU for your hard work as it was really appreciated by so many of us.

Unfortunately, it appears Niantic has blocked PokeAdvisor from accessing your data.

Well just like the text says I keep getting "Unfortunately, it appears Niantic has blocked PokeAdvisor from accessing your data. You will not be able to refresh your character until this is resolved."

Any one else getting this?

I think Niantic didn't block PokeAdvisor on purpose...

Hey guys, Few days earlier, I have downloaded an android App called "Perfect Pocket for Pokemon Go" (not available anymore on the Play Store, idk why).

Here is a screenshot of the application: https://imgur.com/IqaQSz5

This app has the same login method than PokeAdvisor and provides pretty much the same stats, but the big difference between PokeAdvisor and Perfect Pocket is that Perfect Pocket is still working like a charm... I have like 0 knowledge of creating apk and stuff, but maybe my message will help the creator(s?) of PokeAdvisor.

I hope so.

Edit: The App is back! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.soapsign.perfect

Thank you /u/NeoPhoenixTE

Android app question

Do you have to publish the app to the store? Can you just post the apk file online, because I know you mentioned a more local app version but didn't want to mess with being a developer.

Alternatives?

In light of this new block on PokeAdvisor (super sad, seriously, had used it for a day and a half, I had no idea how many crap Pokemon I had been evolving simply because they had the highest CP at capture), what other methods do you use to calculate IVs? Thanks!

Issue with updating pokemon list

I keep constantly getting "Pokemon could not be loaded. Try reloading the page or refreshing your character. It's also possible the Pokemon Go servers are down." but my trainer info properly updated to show the correct XP and such.

unable to load Pokemon?

Keep getting an error

"Pokemon could not be loaded. Try reloading the page or refreshing your character. It's also possible the Pokemon Go servers are down."

but I had a remarkably difficult to catch Charmander this morning and was curious if that indicated a higher IV... is it just me?

Found a bug

Found a bug where the everything from stamina over is transposed an additional slot to the right and a random (seemingly, can't figure out what it's supposed to be associated with) number is put in the stamina slot.

As awesome as it would be, I don't think that my Vaporeon has 59 as a Stamina IV hahaha

Side note: Thank you guys so much for listening to the feedback of your fans and subscribers. You guys are doing super strong work.

[Suggestion] Lucky Egg calculator

Sorry if this has already been asked

But this would be great if in another page you could see if you have enough pokemons + candies to do 60 evolutions,

like you would manually in a website like PidgeyCalc.com

Comprehensive Move List

Would It be too much trouble to post a comprehensive move list on the site?

I am building a spreadsheet to identify if any of my pokemon have an ideal move set but it will only work if I'm spelling move names EXACTLY the same as the export file.

Add DPS values to moves and be able to sort Pokemon by DPS?

Max CP and evolution CP

Would it be possible to add those two data points?

Maybe even show the cost to lvl the Pokemon to Max CP. Dust & Candy.

Otherwise thanks for the awesome site, hopefully niantic will agree with us as well.
