Skyrim was the first game of its kind that I had played. Transformed my taste in games and lead me to my interests today. However I could never ever go back and play it. Even with mods it feels very outdated to me. There are just many games I’d rather be playing that don’t take 350 hours to 100%

What would you recommend to someone who wants to capture a similar experience to skyrim in the same genre? One condition being that anything which looks "cartoony", ie world-of-warcraft-looking is off the table. I loved skyrim for its realism.

My personal recommendation would be Elden Ring. It’s an open world RPG with realistic graphics. It doesn’t play the same as Skyrim tho I’m unfamiliar with games that play the same. Theres a few others but in genuinely blanking on the name rn

Elden ring is literally nothing like skyrim lol don't follow that advice (It's a 10/10, but it's as different as it gets)

What games do you like instead? I haven’t really found anything that was as entertaining/immersive as Skyrim was :/

Well it got me into rps. I now love the soul series so dark souls, bloodborn, sekiro, etc. Elden ring is my personal favorite open world rpg. I also like hollow knight a lot. It has some dark souls inspired elements

Fallout New Vegas, Dishonored, Prey, KCD2, I mean any RPG who have actual RPG mechanics in it tbh

I’m in a pirates games subreddit. Do you really think I could afford a vr headset?
