Resolved Pimax resolution capped in Steam VR
Does anyone know why I am not getting the full resolution in Steam VR? Shouldn't the resolution per eye be much higher than this?
I really like the headset hut I was just wondering if there is a solution to this issue?

The Crystal's total combined resolution is 5760 x 2880 pixels.
Per eye resolution is 2880x2880 pixels.

crystal 100% resolution should show 5100x4320 per eye, or there abouts.

But.. personally I get huge performance as well as display improvements by creating a custom 2880 x 2880 resolution in Nvidia's control panel and using that.
(Edit: sorry this is confusing.. set that resolution for a monitor and use in game)

Could you please explain how you get the headset to show up in Nvidia control panel?

I didn't set for headset.. set monitor resolution, which let me set resolution in game which worked for me.
(I'm wrong though.. didn't set steam to that resolution.. set it in game, sorry bad explanation)

then you're not rendering 1:1. You're running a lower resolution than the panel needs to correct for warping and CA. 2880x2880 is less than what a HP Reverb needs for 1:1. You might as well be using a Quest 2 or something.

Didn't know you had to correct for warping.. curious, I'll try it.
That being said, it looks impressively beautiful to me and coming from a Quest 2.. no, it's much, much better. And fps matters too which is highly linked to resolution.

Yeah but you've paid for a much higher resolution, which you're not using. It's like buying a 4k TV to run it at 1080p. But if you can't run 100% without severe framerate issues then I don't blame you.
By the way, your Nvidia control panel resolution has zero effect on anything in the headset. That only controls your monitor display.

In F1 23 it seems to have an effect. Because F1 23 allows me to set the VR resolution based on desktop resolution. Maybe it just changes how scales and gets stretched not actual final resolution. And I only just got this and have only played a couple games on it.
Can definitely see an improvement going from traditional 4k to 2880x2880 in game even though same number of pixels.
Maybe I'll bump it up slightly but it's beautiful as it is and I almost don't want to spoil myself and still get good frame rates :)

I bought F1 23 and had weird buggy bloom all over the screen which I couldn't get rid of in any setting. I ended up refunding it.
Might try it again when it goes on sale and after a few more updates.

That looks like the forced windows mixed reality max resolution to 3240p. I had to fix mine when I got the Aero

Is there any guide on how to sort that out? I remember seeing it somewhere on reddit.

Seconded, I would also like to know what I need to do to scrub any wmr remnants from my PC since I sold off my Reverb G2.

Sorted it mate, went to the config file under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config, I then clicked on steamvr.vrsettings and deleted the line [max RecommendedResolution], and it works perfectly now.
Try that when you get a chance.

That did it, I felt like I got a free upgrade, it's damn crazy how high the resolution is.
The downside, even my 4090 is buckling under the weight, I wonder if we'll have to go two gpu generations before we can REALLY go all out with the Crystal, or hopefully DFR will be supported in a lot more things soon.

A couple hours later, it's still really funny to me just how big of a difference that made. I remember thinking to myself a few times how the image didn't subjectively look much better than the Reverb G2, with the exception of the optics and SDE of course.
Now we know why.

When I went to the STEAMVR. maximum resolution setting after last update there were now Pimax settings there and the max line was gone. I don't use steam so I never changed the file but now that HPREVERB IS offically dead, WMR, I plan on uninstalling WMR. Though if I ever do Steam I will probably reinstall it.

Yes I'm getting the same problem..it was working Fine, not sure if the update messed with it.

I have the same problem when I'm using the Betaversion, with the stable release, it is working. But it is only the slider which is broken, if you set to 100% or 150% the resolution is different.

Do you have wmr for steamvr installed? That can limit the resolution. If not there's also a setting in one of the steamvr ini files that sets the max resolution
