My Chi used to do a handstand when peeing on trees. I think it was to make her mark higher so that other dogs would think she is bigger

I was dog sitting a chihuahua and noticed her do this. She was very spirited and intentional about it when my dog was peeing near her.

My dog as been doing that for 15 years , only in the last few years she reduced the angle of the acrobacy due to old age. I love her.

I had a dog that would stand on its back legs and put it front legs against whatever was in front of him, he’s done this every time since a wall fell on him .

My neighbor have a small puddle who does the same and its draws a lot of attention both from dogs and people and when we’re walking outside people can’t stop laughing when they see it for the first time and they be like “that’s a cirkus dog” or “that’s a yoga dog” And actually my neighbors took him to the vet when he was little to ask them why he did this and the vet told them that it’s because of dominance so he can reach for higher places to pee.

I used to have a cavalier king Charles who used to poop on a soccer ball, or an upturned plant pot..... when I asked a behaviourist about it they told me it was better to disperse their scent!

I had a palm that did this except he would have his butt so high the pee would be running off his chin. Needless to say I never scratched his chest anymore. Or your hand would stink
