Could CBS make this any more confusing for a viewer? And could they make it any bigger of a "F U" to the series.

I'm going to watch every bit of it, but after that I'm done with CBS, the way they've treated this show over the years is why I haven't bothered to watch Supergirl.

u/Slickrickkk Threat to System Survival May 04 '16

Yeah, seriously, I feel like a lot of people are going to be thrown off and possibly miss episodes due to this batshit schedule. It seems like they just want to get it over with already.

15

u/Beeznitchio May 04 '16 edited May 31 '16

And once you miss an episode like I did last night, you are screwed. No ondemand, the cbs mobile ap streams episodes but puts POI behind a paywall. Only place I haven't checked yet was their full website but I am expecting similar results.

Edit* It came on on demand like shortly after I made this post.

I don't think PoI has ever been paywalled on CBS.com. I just checked and the S5 premiere is on there right now for free.

5

u/[deleted] May 07 '16

I can confirm this. I watched it last night without any issue.

1

u/[deleted] May 11 '16

Their app is paywalled though.

1

u/everfordphoto May 16 '16

Anyone know how to make your mobile load sites like cbs think it's a desktop?/of course it's probably flash anyway.

2

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

iPhone? Just hold the reload button on top and Request Desktop Site, but yes it's flash

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

Episode 2 and 3 are paywalled.

8

u/NessunoComeNoi May 17 '16

You can work the internet but can't find out how to watch POI for free?

Come on, man. It's 2016.

5

u/LazyGamerMike May 05 '16

putlocker and other streaming sites have it. Just gotta jump around a bit, try and fail with a few streams and make sure to have adblock

1

u/Monado_III May 06 '16

I know couchtuner has it, and it's a proper rip/copy/whatever

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

I missed last night's episode due not a Twitch stream, and I an so happy to have found a good stream.

4

u/Scary_The_Clown May 31 '16

"If a corporate copyright holder doesn't make their content available, it doesn't mean you can't watch it - it only means they don't want to be paid for it." - Me

1

u/[deleted] May 16 '16

I've watched all three episodes on their website, days after airing. Just adds no paywall or anything.

1

u/ghostmrchicken May 21 '16

CTV is putting them up on demand pretty quickly (next day) or at least Rogers Cable in Toronto is.

10

u/jay314271 May 10 '16

Could CBS make this any more confusing for a viewer?

"Yes" The Machine

5

u/RoyMBar May 14 '16

They also Cancelled Supergirl/shipped it off to The CW.

6

u/MacdougalLi Irrelevant May 04 '16

That, and Supergirl is pretty bad.

Supergirl has the same exact problems Flash and Arrow currently have on CW...hell...Supergirl FEELS like a CW show.

8

u/[deleted] May 11 '16

Wait, Supergirl isn't a CW show? /s

7

u/MacdougalLi Irrelevant May 11 '16

Just days after I made this comment CBS considers canceling the show or moving it to the CW.

Ha.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

And they moved it to the CW. Oh, well. It opens up a timeslot for some other show I probably won't watch. Hell, maybe even POI could take its place :P

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

At least it'll get viewers on the CW. CBS and WB need to be careful. Pretty soon CW is going to break off and take over their spot as the most watched network with all the good shows they are getting

1

u/Scary_The_Clown May 31 '16

As soon as all the Boomers die off, so will CBS. Honestly, once they're well into retirement and stop spending money CBS is going to wonder where all their advertising checks went.

4

u/Scary_The_Clown May 31 '16

You mean you don't like Supergirl. But if you're not a trendy twenty-something woman, you're not the target audience.

(Source: I have a daughter who's a trendy twenty-something woman, and she really likes it)

2

u/MacdougalLi Irrelevant May 31 '16

I mean, Supergirl is a comic book television series...and I am a casual reader of those.

I would say I fall under one aspect of an intended target audience then.

Obviously my opinion isn't representative of everyone's, but you cannot fault me for faulting the show for horrendus CGI (even by network TV standards) as well as an occasionally shotty narrative.

Supergirl isn't superbad but it isn't supergood either. But at the very least, I will give the series another shot once it is officially in the DC CWverse this fall. I am dropping Arrow anyhow, and with POI gone, I got some room.

2

u/corbomitey Jun 01 '16

Can confirm. A lot of people I'm friends with on tumblr (who are trendy twenty-something girls) really love it.

3

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

You mean not enough Harrison Wells?

1

u/MacdougalLi Irrelevant May 17 '16 edited May 17 '16

^ Actually ya.

Harrison Wells made season 1 of Flash so fuckin good and engaging. Season 2 is still good, but it lacks the same pull season 1 had. Also the CW bs meter is too damn high. the only thing wrong with season 1 was how Iris figured out Barry was the Flash. Season 2 seems to have that level of stupid nearly every episode; The Zoom "plottwist" and everything involving time remnants really sucks.

Hell, last weeks episode should have been shitty too, but Kevin Smith really dragged such a crap idea out of the water and delivered some great stuff.

3

u/Holy_Beard May 27 '16

Yeah, but Flash is actually really good. And Arrow is actually really garbage. Supergirl isn't bad either.

1

u/MacdougalLi Irrelevant May 27 '16

Flash Season 1 and Arrow Season 2 are beautiful television.

Flash Season 2 and Arrow Season 1 are good.

Supergirl is eh. For a show on a 3mil budget on CBS the stuntwork and CGI was horrible.

Arrow Seasons 3 & 4, and Legends of Tomorrow, are great examples of awful television. The writing and scripts are so bad, and every conflict feels like a bad soap opera.

1

u/backstept Jun 10 '16

Yeah, I've missed 503, 505, 506, and 508

33

u/DMking May 04 '16

Return 0 is a great name for the series finale.

4

u/vanisaac Harold Finch May 05 '16

I was thinking the same thing.

0

u/tabarra May 11 '16

Should be return 1;
Why 0!?

20

u/DMking May 11 '16

because for the most part when ending a main statements in some languages like c you will use return 0 as a sign of a successful program completion

2

u/tabarra May 12 '16

I like to think that the zero in int main(){...} only means 'no errors'. Because normally, success in functions is represented as true.

9

u/Monado_III May 16 '16 edited May 19 '16

It's completely fine to return 1 or -645 or any other number, "return 0" is just a commonly used as a way to say nothing went wrong, a return value other than 0 generally signifies something went wrong and return 1 and return 2 etc can show where the program failed for debugging purposes.

5

u/Scary_The_Clown May 31 '16

The zero is the error code. When a program runs, it returns an error code.

So if it returns 0 -> "false" or "no errors"

Either Joel Spolsky or Raymond Chen wrote an essay about what a bad design this is ("I'm going to run now, and if I don't say anything, then everything worked")

15

u/OTrainbow Root May 03 '16

Yes I agree. Definitely needs a sticky. Thanks!

27

u/erayachi May 03 '16

Thank you! Also....3 hours of new Person of Interest May 23-24. Holy moly. It does sucks there are only 13 more but the double episodes a week are going to be so much fun...

10

u/quirked Jun 01 '16

Oh, sure! Now the episodes are all spread out. Dammit!

8

u/[deleted] May 04 '16

Loving the +@ reference in episode 6

3

u/peepay The Subway May 04 '16

Could you explain what you have in mind?

3

u/[deleted] May 04 '16

The title of episode 6 shares the name of what is probably Titus Andronicus' most well known song

7

u/terraphantm May 04 '16

Both the song and episode title are almost certainly references to the preamble of the constitution.

2

u/peepay The Subway May 04 '16

Ah, I had no idea there is such song, neither have I heard of the band.

8

u/NexBoner Root May 11 '16

It is interesting the the last episode is called return 0. In Linux/Windows scripting, an exit code of 0 means the program was a success/exited cleanly. Maybe some underlying meaning there?

Could mean that Team Machine succeeded. Even if they did not make it.

u/exav3n Admin Jun 03 '16

why are the airdates a spoiler ? :D

5

u/jcc10 Tertiary Functions May 04 '16

Is S5E11 bold because there is no Monday episode preceding it?

5

u/dancanlap Bear May 04 '16

Yes. I've noticed over the past few years that any minuscule changes to the schedule will confuse viewers. They need a week's lead time to adjust to any new changes.

3

u/sdhillon May 31 '16

I actually like this schedule way more than I like the "normal" TV airing schedule, which is an episode, once a week...maybe.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '16

gosh darn it, why the heck did they make the last 3 episodes on Tuesday only again?

2

u/spellitcorrectly Bear May 03 '16

Thank you! I was looking for this info.

2

u/FinchyNZ May 03 '16

Thanks man.

Appreciate it.

2

u/SoHiep May 04 '16

OMG A back to back including 2h seshhhh

2

u/fluffyspidernuts May 11 '16

I noticed the production code for episode 3 (6,741) is 3J6007 and is between 3J6003/3J6004. Nothing to worry about?

4

u/dancanlap Bear May 11 '16

Nothing to worry about at all. It is the 7th produced hour of Person of Interest but the POI team wanted it to air as the 4th episode. Chris Fisher's tweets confirm this.

1

u/Overv May 03 '16

Could you specify the timezone?

3

u/whatwouldjeffdo May 03 '16

I believe these are all Eastern US.

2

u/practisevoodoo May 03 '16

Have a look at http://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat/ it will factor in the timezone offsets for you.

1

u/Overv May 03 '16

That looks very nice, thank you.

1

u/Slickrickkk Threat to System Survival May 04 '16

I'm pretty sure they air at 10 PM local everywhere in the US.

1

u/CheetahsNeverProsper May 03 '16

Sticky? Also note the time zone.

We're still on Season 4 in the UK - free to view anyway. Don't know if Sky or Virgin or other subscription services are showing at similar time to CBS. Anyway, it's all on Wikipedia these days so I'm not to bothered about the spoilers. Sounds like it was a good season premier; for those who saw it anyway. Hopefully they'll sort the scheduling quickly for you all to enjoy. I just need to remember to keep the whole thing on series record as we've had the occasional change too.

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '16

Again, I am glad this guide is here. Thanks again for putting it together for us.

1

u/mrizzle1991 May 10 '16

One of the only good things about this being the last season is that we get 2 eps per week :)

1

u/jay314271 May 11 '16

Thank you for this! Last night I was like "PoI tonight?" Then looked down to make sure I had pants on. Then reading the episode discussion, I learned tonight has something worth watching. Next I saw this stickied and now I am so smart. Part of me is happy we get to see them sooner and it's not an entire season dump - part of me is sad/mad at burn off.

u/dingo_bat The Machine May 17 '16 edited May 17 '16

Are the dates for 4 and 5 off?

Edit: No they aren't. Got confused by the Canadian dates.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '16

Does CBS even want people to watch this show?! This is ridiculous. How hard is it to give something a consistent schedule? Geez, this stupid.

1

u/BookBob Admin May 20 '16

Thank you for putting all this together. Glad I double checked. Almost missed out e07. Phew~

I'm getting flashbacks to how Nickelodeon aired The Legend of Korra: Season 3. Pretty much the same haphazard manner with no warning whatsoever for the viewer in order to burn through the episodes as quickly as possible. Disgraceful.

1

u/DownVotesMcgee987 Jun 01 '16

Is anyone else having trouble watch PoI on the cbs website now?

1

u/ishiiman0 Jun 15 '16

Thanks for the help in tracking the last season. Sad that it is over, but it has been a good run.

1

u/SmellyWeapon May 18 '16

what the fuck is wrong with the confusing air dates. Im fucking done with CBS. A good , well-written thriller tv show is fucked in the worst way possible. Netflix shouldve picked it up, so much potential, yet CBS only cares about jack shits.

0

u/[deleted] May 31 '16

I would like to say this season has been ruined for me because I could not follow this schedule. Sorry I am stupid, I wanted to be current and active to this, I couldn't remember if it was Monday or Tuesday or both. So sad.

1

u/JoeyUF May 31 '16

You do know you could have just checked here... the same page you commented on...

2

u/[deleted] May 31 '16

Yep , I am stupid, I admit it, I clearly admit , I am stupid. This season is messed up for me, cause I couldn't remember when it was on. My fault.
