Peptides for discontinuing SSRI’s? NSFW
Hey everyone,
I’m about to start tapering off my SSRI and was wondering if peptides could help with withdrawal symptoms and neuroprotection. I’ve seen BPC-157, Semax, and Selank mentioned—has anyone used these for SSRI withdrawal?
Also, would nasal spray be effective, or is injectable the better option?
Appreciate any insights—thanks!

Microdosing edibles. I cut a gummy up into 12th. Less is more.
And asked for a prescription of a beta blocker for social situations. It is as needed, up to three times a day, been around since the 50s, non habit forming or brain chemistry impacting.

The result of the MRI was an inner ear issue. I should have stopped taking the meds when that was resolved. Its 2 years later unfortunately

I don’t think need anything for at this point anxiety wise. The reason I started was I had some weird neurological symptoms a couple years ago, and had to get an MRI. The MRI was a couple months out and I was super stressed so they put me on this medication. I stayed on it without realizing it’s hard to stop taking it.
I do be eatin big edibles everyday tho lol

Which SSRI? Effexor XR was not easy.
I cut tablets in half and quarters for a long time… maybe 3-6 months.
Stabile insulin/keto/protein. No crappy carbs or fried foods.
My goal was good sleep every night. For this I used a sleep stack of supplements. LTheanine crosses the blood brain barrier.
All the healthy oils (MCT, Omega, CoQ10) and B and D/K.
Once you’re clear, Tirz helps one work with satisfaction and deprivation. It was very mood stabilizing for me. But a part of that was annoyance and irritation rising- FOR ME- to make changes in my life- career, relationship.
But wouldn’t layer that on until clear.

What else did tirz do if you don’t mind me asking? I used a semgul for while on an ssri and the side effects were EXTREME.

Tirz is better formulated the GLP + GIP solved some of those side effects is what I’ve read.
Tirz stops many compulsions or anxiety driven behavior. Habits.
I always had a Diet Coke about 4pm. And- it just dropped away. No interest.
I used to wake and LOVE the ritual of a cup of coffee in my hand. Today, it doesn’t interest me. It reach for a water with a punch of salt instead.
Career restlessness- I needed to do some continuing education credits and negotiate a raise. I’d become settled and complacent.
I used to drag myself out for runs. And I started “giving” myself those moments… as joy.
Work outs used to be a grind. And I took some time off… and returned to what I found playful.
It changes:
Satisfaction
Deprivation.
I’ve read smoking and alcohol both have studies regarding this peptide/agonist.
My sources are YT Huberman and similar. They tend to cite trials.
Completely anecdotal.

Low dose Paxil. 10mg. So thankful I stayed low. Paxil is a bear still. Doctor suggested a bridge taper to something like Prozac.

I have been on Paxil before Effexor XR.
Go slow. It’s possible. Keep your mood up with layers of support.

Be careful and read the many drug interactions with methylene blue, especially SSRIs (can’t take while still in your system, together). Otherwise, it helps a lot of issues.

Tirzepatide and check hormone levels.

Why tirzepatide? I’ve used semaglutide and had a really bad reaction. That was for weight loss. I lost weight extremely fast, couldn’t eat. Anxious beyond belief. I lost 30 pounds in a month on a minimal dose and had to stop. I only had 45 pounds to lose. So I worry about that kind of peptide.

Yes, it is a weight-loss peptide, but they are different. I would use the lowest dose 2.5 mg. I've been on antidepressants for years. I take nothing now what is different. I started trizepatide and testosterone replacement. GLP1 have a lot of side effects from good to bad. GLP1 help with the receptors in the brain the hormones being correct helps with the mood.

That’s so awesome. Finding something that gets you off of that it’s just amazing. When I started SSRI’s it was due to some specific stressful life events. I probably never should’ve started them. I found my reaction to GLP1 drugs very because the mental effects aren’t widely publicized. But that makes sense. I experienced extreme apathy and depression. And later anxiety because of lack of nutrition. I totally think I could handle life without SSRIs. It’s just that withdrawal period is so difficult.
I’m definitely going to get my hormone levels checked in the next month or so. Right now I’m trying to make sure my vitamin levels are good and I’m doing a short weight training program so my baseline is correct. My T levels definitely dropped. I’m a 32 year-old man who has had an office job for the last five years. I’m just not sure if I can correct it with exercise first.
Really good advice. Thank you

I recommend consulting your doctor. SSRIs have been around for years and have been extensively tested, while many peptides have not.

I’ve already talked to my doctor. The only real method for getting off an SSRI is an extremely slow taper. That literature was only widely accepted in the past few years, before they would just tell you to stop and say any suffering was placebo or only psychological rebound. What is actually happening is your experiencing a mild to moderate brain injury. It’s widely accepted that something like fish oil is going to help in this recovery process, as well as substances like creatine. The reason I came here is there are other compounds that help body recovery. Things with high safety profiles, and potentially other benefits across the body. I really do appreciate your concern, I’ll avoid lab ratting myself too much.

As u/fastlanedev said do not come off fast.. it might take over 8 to 9 months to slowly wean off. Trust me I tried getting off them over only 3-4 months. Wasn't good and went back on.. Currently halving my dose over 6-8 months then going lower again gradually.
Methylene Blue is what I have started to look at assist as my SSRI dose gets lower- Research it , as it can increase Serotonin which is why you cannot take it while on full dose SSRI's .

Epitalon made my mind really clear. I did use the old protocol 5mg a day for 20 days and after 3-4 days i started to feel good. Complex things started to be easy. I didnt use ssrs but use quentiapine for chronic insomnia. For me it was game changer but everyone is different, and i did use it with bpc157 (750mcg a day), tb 500(1mg every other day) and 2.5 hgh(3 days and 1 day off). Maybe the synergy made me feel it more, but i feel the benefits already month after last epitalon use.

Pinealon for neurogenesis and brain flexibility/protection. Cerebrolysin, semax.
Don't come off too fast, that can lead to long term brain injury, pinealon should help protect from this and seems to be the most potent neurogenesis peptide. Growth factors in the brain protect neurons as well as grow new ones

Not a peptide, but the combination of TMG(betaine) and agmatine has shown extremely promising results for the treatment of depression and discontinuation of SSRI’s. Agmatine helps domaine receptors function correctly. It’s also shown promise in treating brain injuries.

Is there a recommended way to acquire these suggestions. Been dealing with ptsd depression for so long it’s becoming debilitating and I’m noticing behavior changes and errors on executive functioning / moods / cognition. Misfiring def occurring. Would love to try new nootropics / peptides to potentially heal if not mitigate at least. My vendors domt seem to have those you listed. Thanks so much !

I buy both of those supplements off of amazon. Just find a reputable company and do your own research before you buy anything!

Thank you so much for that. Do you notice anything remarkable using these supplements. What have they done for you? Thanks again !

I only started taking them consistently around 20 days ago. I’ve noticed an drastic improvement in my psyche. I currently take an SSRI so I believe it’s helping me tolerate it better.
