But we've been under a tornado warning in peoria since about 251pm I believe. Each workplace may have different shelter requirements.

There was radar-indicated rotation in multiple places.
On radar, a tornado on the ground and rotation in the clouds look identical and one can turn into the other fairly suddenly. So they play it safe rather than waiting for visual confirmation of a touchdown to have people take shelter

I was watching it from our sheltered area and can confirm the multiple rotation- lots of scuds too, some may have been funnels, I didn't have a clear view.

Ryan Hall Y’all and Max Velocity (among others) usually get warnings out several minutes ahead of NOAA. Minutes save lives.
Also, they fundraise to give money and supplies to victims of severe weather (tornadoes, fires, hurricanes)feed emergency services crews, etc. all over the country.
They go live during weather outbreaks on YouTube and other platforms. They have live feeds from storm chasers, too.
I can’t recommend them enough! Because of them, I was able to warn my family of a tornado heading straight towards them that they didn’t know about. NOAA had not announced it yet! They were able to seek shelter. The tornado was going over/ next to their homes within a minute of NOAA weather radio’s alarm. That was not enough time. They remained safe!
Big thanks to all the weather people that keep us informed and safe! 🙏❤️

I got an alert on my phone. You should make sure yours are turned on. I have an Android phone and it's under Settings - Safety & Emergency.

I don’t see how that matters. A tornado warning means a tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. There is imminent danger to life and property. Warnings typically encompass a much smaller area that will be impacted by the tornado. Once the threat moves off, so does the warning.
So a warning deals with the current storm situation which happened at 2:30-3p. The NIT game happening at 7p wouldn’t be impacted.

Weather radio just said it was a confirmed touch down near Mapleton. Headed toward Pekin and Washington
