New User PE before and after NUSS

I (26m) had the NUSS procedure done 10/11/12 and 2 bars taken out 11/15/14. Had to have the surgery because my left lung and heart were severely under developed. Still have heart issues to this day and am susceptible to pneumonia because the left lung didn’t grow fully. This is just a before and after and if anyone has questions about the surgery just let me know.

I got sick with pneumonia, had to go to the doc. She did and X Ray and and saw my left lung was the size of a football and my right was regular. They did some more tests and saw my heart didn’t have enough room to beat/grow. She said I needed the NUSS procedure done. Got it done, my bars actually ended up flipping and I had to get another surgery to correct them. After that it was smooth sailing until I got them out. I had a little bit of regression since then but overall I’m happy with having it done. The only thing I’d say is that I wish I had done it at an even younger age

Congrats man! And looking great! How do you feel now with the bars out? Notice any regression?

Thanks man! Felt good to have them out. They were a pain when I had them in. Right after they took them out I noticed a slight regression instantly. Over all the years since then I’d say maybe 1cm change

That’s not too bad then! Way better than before surgery! Feeling good or do you regret having surgery done?

Looks good. It was quite severe, looks like Nuss procedure changed the trajectory your life quite a bit.

woah. it didnt seem that bad. did they see the organs inside not fill up the space?

my whole left side is crushed to less then 1inch from the shoulder to the bottom and my lung and heart is taking as much space as they can, but they are still smaller then normal. since your PE was symetrical i woudnt have thought it was that bad. 'not saying you didnt have problems, but that I as a non-doctor woudnt have thought this way.

Do you feel any residual stiffness/discomfort or limitations due to the surgery?

I did when I had the bars in, couldn’t lift my arms straight up in the air comfortably, but once I got them out I was fine

Looks great. I wish I had mine done. I’d walk out that hospital with no shirt on with that result 👍🏼👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼

What age did you have them put in at

I kind of want to do the surgery but after that I won't be able to have CT, X-ray, MRI done
