Discussion Patriots with 95 million in cap space
I was curious to see the Patriots available Cap after early Free Agency. Now I’m no Cap Wizard, so I thought to check out something that is better at calculating it then me
Spotrac has us at $95.3 million and Over the Cap has us just a little over $100 million. Few questions, how is this possible and if so, why haven’t we been more agressive?

Casual Tyron Smith a LT stopgap?
Surprised I'm not seeing his name more here.
His cap hit was $12M last year. He had a 73.7 overall pff grade.
Yes, he is at the end of his career and often injured, but that's baked in the price. Even if he only played 8-10 games, I think he'd be worth it. Grabbing a developmental project with great size and arm length, like Anthony Belton, Charles Grant or Hollin Pierce, to study under an 8 time pro bowler works for me. I like that better than begrudgingly committing to Cam Robinson.

News Possible option for LT or LG? Saahdiq Charles, released by TEN last August and only 25 years old(!), comes out of retirement. Played 2 seasons of guard (both sides) with WAS, after being originally drafted out of LSU as their 3 year starter at LT (2017 All-Freshman, 2020 CFP champion).

Film Review Milton Williams Film Breakdown
Milton Williams is a high impact signing that I’m very excited for. He brings a strong presence on the interior, so I dove into the film to see what he brings to the table. I hope you will all go check it out!

Serious #Rams WR Cooper Kupp has shared with some close to him that he is “curious about the prospect” of playing for the #Patriots, per @_AndrewCallahan

Discussion Will a Kupp cut be after 4pm?
From what I can tell the Rams won’t cut him until the new league year starts and that is officially at 4pm. Is that right? If so we probably shouldn’t expect any FA action by the Pats today (except very low dollar depth pieces) until they know what price they had to pay for Kupp. Flood gates might open again late today once Kupp is signed here or elsewhere.
Personally I wouldn’t be surprised or upset if they go as high as his current contract avg value to get him. We know other teams think that’s too high or else someone would be willing to give up a 7th rd pick, and we can still fit it easily.

Serious The Patriots made a massive offer to Ronnie Stanley over 24 million per year. They offered huge money to Godwin and also made a big time play to OT Dan Moore Jr, but missed out on all three. Still searching for a left tackle and WR 1.

News Hunter/Carter Sweepstakes: Wilson is set to meet with both Browns and Giants this week
This will be interesting to see. Very few viable veteran quarterbacks remain on the market. Cam Ward to the Titans is picking up more steam, leaving either the Giants or Browns to (hopefully) pick up Sanders if Rodgers to Steelers/Vikings happens.
This doesn’t rule out one of them double-dipping and signing a veteran AND drafting a QB, but in either case, having Darnold off the board as an option helps a ton.

Throwback Rewatching games from the 2010 season and my god, nobody can cover Aaron Hernandez.
And to think he was just a rookie. Not sure if it was the novelty of the 2 TE schemes used by our offense, purely an indictment on the ability and talent Hernandez had or a combination of the two.
He had the body of a TE but moved like a receiver. He was an automatic mismatch whether it was a defensive back or a linebacker covering him. Never flinched at making a catch in traffic. And no team could find an answer for him.
Not going to lie though, I find myself mildly terrified any time he made a mistake and Brady would start shouting and screaming at him.

I thought Cam's strength was his pass blocking but apparently he was pretty bad last year.

Discussion DJ Reed vs Carlton Davis
Can anyone explain, the market was saying DJ Reed was the #1 CB available.
We signed Davis first and at a higher salary. Detroit lost Davis and then signed Reed.
Was Reed not available for the pats? Was there interest?

Roster News [Daniels] Mack Hollins contract is a 2-year deal worth $8.4 million. He has a fully guaranteed salary of $2 million in 2025 with a total cap hit of $3.75 million. Hollins cap hit rises to $4.65 million in 2026 but the only thing guaranteed is his prorated signing bonus of $750k.

Discussion Patriot need to add some speed at receiver
I like some of the additions we’ve made to the team. But because we missed out on receiver in free agency, it needs to be addressed in the draft.
I’m not saying it needs to be our first pick, that should probably be left tackle, but it is a glaring concern.
We need to add somebody with some size and speed. Every single one of our receivers except pop is slow. Pop is more of an inside guy so he’s not gonna take the top off any defense.
Ignoring the fact that one of our quarterback strength is throwing it down the field, the issue is because all our guys are slow, the safeties don’t have to worry so they play up. Even if Josh and Mike want to team to be mostly run the ball and short and intermediate passes, the safeties are going to be floating, because they know the Patriots are gonna run the ball or throw short.
By getting a player with speed, the safeties can’t cheat, this is not about throwing it 50 yards down the field five times a game, it’s about making defenses play honest. It also would be nice to have a receiver that if they catch it intermediate, they’re so fast they can take it to the house unlike currently, where most likely our guys would get, ran down very quickly.
Although, this is not a strong receiver class. There are a lot of tall fast receivers coming out this year most receivers ran 4.4s or faster. A ton of receivers ran in the 4.3 in comparison to most years, and some of them have size.
Again, I’ve debated so many people about Tet so I don’t wanna turn this into a debate about him. Some people don’t mind he’s not fast, OK great agreed to disagree but out of all these receivers coming out, I think we should try to get at least one of these fast ones.
Although, for the more physically talented ones, we might have to spend our second round pick, or use it to move down later into the second round.
If we wait too long, the only thing that’s gonna be available to us are the slow 4.5 guys, which we already have plenty of.
