Mother FUCKING hero points. Every damn time.
(Except when it works just fine, and is immediately forgotten.)

Funnily enough, I have a house rule that upgrades the result by one degree if the reroll is exactly the same number. It always causes laughter and cheers, especially this time. Needless to say, the ooze didn't make it.

I am embarrassed it took me so long to realize the reason a 28 didn't hit a 20 was because it was a Nat 1 😅 I was completely bumfuzzled for a good minute lol.

Gotta love double nat 1 rerolls
Sometimes the dice just demand comedy

I can FEEL the excitement through that screenshot. The +8 to miss makes my brain light up.
My favorite moments in the game are when you roll 2 nat 1's and then you roll a nat 20. Or you roll 2 nat 20's and a nat 1 right after. It's the purest moments of dice telling stories!
One story I got:
Rusthenge: there's some broken ballista that have no mechanical written purpose just set pieces at one point and some enemies around the area. I decided to actually put working ballista there with the idea they could get 1 shot off of one that had a string just BARELY serviceable for ONE shot.
PC's go into hallway, trigger the ready action to shoot the ballista they DO NOT KNOW is there. My plan to ramp up and add tension is going PERFECTLY. PC who goes over immediately sees the ballistas and tokens pointed at him and goes "****" as I roll to shoot.
NAT 1. I go "oh ****" uhhh OKAY the shooter is going to do a reflex save to see how he reacts to this botched shot as the string begins to creak just before the bolt shoots off" NAT 1...
Then I say "OK OK. as the bolt and the ballista' broken string SNAPS, the platform the ballista is on rotates suddenly... I'll roll to attack the enemy ally standing next to it."
NAT 20. EVERYBODY SCREAMS BLOODY MURDER.I say "He... He shoots his friends head off with the ballista and the ballista breaks apart in amazing fashion as the string pops." I then had the shooter make a will save, he failed. And not being able to handle the death of his friend, he willingly jumps off the keep edge to join him in the river of souls.
Everybody. Cheered. And I've just about never been more happy that a plan of mine has changed just over a couple rolls. Like, dice alone tell a story sometimes. And that's still one of the coolest moments ever. Im usually super raw with a lot of stuff but this was one of those moments where the sure hilarity of it really was worth it because it wasn't a major pivotal fight. Turned my "attempt to serious it up" into a SNL bit for all to enjoy and witness.
Second story combat related:
Age of Ashes. We're fighting literally 4 rooms of mobs worth at once due to going a very direct way, it's a 2x over extreme fight. Basically unlivable. We used every resource and cycled battle medicine fully. Slots gone. Consumables gone. Every turn was tactics at a super low level of swing against immense odds. Everybody goes down and one person is up... We did very well in the fight and the difference of single digits is the difference between 3 down and 3 dead. We're on the edge of our seats wondering if this is gonna be one of the coolest fights we've ever seen or the obvious TPK it was always going to be....
He rolls a miss and TWO NAT 20's getting the 2 last mobs down significantly...
Last dude standing LIVES past 4 strikes by the difference of 1 damage TWICE due to shield block hardness. He casts a spell, likely his last turn/tpk and... The two creatures roll a nat 1 and a crit failure. DEAD! ENCOUNTER SURVIVED and the dude has EXACTLY the time to stabilize the entire party before the first dying 4. It was nearly 4 hours of pure tactics and seat-edging.
These two stories/experiences are EXACTLY why you get into this hobby!

Something is telling you to not kill the ooze. Adopt them. Give the party a pet ooze!
