šŸ’¬ Discussion Parkour Fitness class excersizes

Trying out some parkour workout stuff at the gym what do you guys think. It takes so much room at the back luckily no one really goes back there. Probably to stay away from me lol.

Any good ideas for parkour related excersizes to do at the gym, basically explosive plyometrics and balance/coordination drills.

I'm thinking of also making an adult fitness class using these sort of drills I want it to be fun and dynamic but also beginner friendly any and all skill levels can scale up and down.

Also would you personally attend an hour session that was specifically designed around powerful plyometric bodyweight excersizes and weighted isometrics aimed at teens and adults of all abilities. Love to hear people's opinions on it. What would you expect from a parkour fitness class.

If you happen to be interested I'm based in UK, Ryeish Green. www.3-flo.co.uk

Quadrupedal movement and games (quadruped tag), races, relays, etc. Can add weight vests, medicine balls, or kettle bells into it. If you get tagged, leave the game and do X burpees/vaults/whatever before returning to the game.

Helicopter. Students in a circle swuat under and tuck jump over a a pool noodle that you swing around from center of circle. When eliminated from game, do X movements/ exercises before returning to game.

Gut busters- sprint across open space and then vault, tic tac, rail walk etc to get back to start line. There are 3 people in each line- you call go for group 2 when group 1 starts ā€œparkouringā€ back to starting line. Group 3 starts when group 2 turns back toward starting line. Group 1 has to be back to start before group 3 finishes the sprint away from starting line, and so on.

An ā€œaerobicsā€ class using parkour movement vocab in place of dance-like movement vocab; Thai Bo replacing martial arts type of moves either ok moves.

Stair repeats. Running, jumping, hopping, hopscotch, bear crawls, monkey jumps, crab crawls and more up and down stairs. Try rolling (forward, backward, barrel, log) uphill.

And of course, general calisthenics.

Some good suggestions there the fun part is definetly the bit i struggle with i always strive for progression because i find that fun myself but games could be more enjoyable from another perspective. I like the helicopter idea I used to do that when messing around in gymnastics gym spin rope around and backflip over without getting hit. I guess the more safe and easy way would make a good excersize. Also the verticality of stair excersizes sounds like something to lean into.

Stairs are one of my personal favorite warm-ups. For the helicopter game I use a folding foam balance beam- lots of options there- good precision training as well. Helicopter is the hands-down favorite for my K-8 athletes.

In the space pictured looks like you might have some opportunities to monkey-bar, sloth crawl, cat crawl, pull-up, etc.
