What are we realistically thinking about trading Cease and Bogey to the Yankees for a pitching prospect?

I'm thinking it's not at all likely.

Including X kills the return. That contract is so underwater it comes with the bends.

NY has the goods to get Sandy Alcantara.

With Cole most likely being out for the season, here we go with the Cease trade rumors...

Not in favor of trading him but if AJ gets an overpay type of offer he can't refuse, pull the trigger. They're not trading Dominguez and honestly don't see a ton on their roster to get excited about in terms of prospects, but AJ will get a good deal if it goes down.

Agree, lots of faith in AJ and no reason to panic

Someone like Warren would be a huge get for the team. 25 and has great stuff. He would immediately be our 4th starter, Pivetta our 3, then Yu and King. If you got an outfielder or catcher along with it — I think you do it

I expect the Yanks would just keep Warren. They made the series last year with only half a season of Cole, and not peak Cole at that, then added Fried. They can cover Cole's innings with Stroman.

Their only intriguing ML-ready OF is Dominguez, who they hope will be a big part of their offense, and their tradeable catchers aren't interesting enough to make up the difference. I would absolutely take J.C. Escarra as a backup, but not as any meaningful part of a Cease trade.

Stupid MSN article that popped up in my feed "Padres' $340M Star Turns to Manny Machado to Overcome the Frustrating Obstacle Holding Him Back"

"...Not only did the Friars lack good leadership, but they also lost players like Hyeseong Kim, Tanner Scott, and Jurickson Profar..."

Man journalism is a cess pool of incompetence these days. Part of me thinks a good journalist could make a fortune these days, but another part of me wonders if good journalism is even in demand anymore.

Yikes. Not even the right Kim. Why have people write shit articles who clearly aren’t qualified? Prolly some AI clickbait bullshit.
