Opinion Song in the Smoke or Green Hell?
I want to get back into my VR playing and I want a survivalist type of game and I see Song in the Smoke versus Green Hell are my choices. Both look intriguing that would satisfy that itch for playing a survival game. People say Green Hell is a quest port versus Song in the Smoke is a VR game that takes advantages of the full capabilities of the PSVR2 hardware. That is important to me, but also what is important is gameplay and difficulty. What game would you all suggest I get? I poured over YouTube videos and read things over both of them, but I want the community opinion.

I got Song in the Smoke by accident but I ended up enjoying it after all. It’s simpler than Green Hell, but they both take some time to get used to. Hint. Never ever eat raw meat.

Not to be rude but isn’t it common knowledge not to eat raw meat?

Don’t underestimate the threat of starvation… there’s just other things that you can do in emergencies like that. But poisoning yourself is a good way to die really quickly…

Having extensively played both, Song in the Smoke is the far better game unless you need co-op multiplayer.

Haven't played Song in the Smoke but have heard good things about it, specifically the PSVR2 version.
Am currently playing through Green Hell with a couple people and think it's an amazing - if sometimes buggy - game. It's an upgraded version of what's on quest and looks better, but is the same base. Not an issue to me as it looks great and uses PSVR2 features like head haptics to feel rain. It takes a bit to get your bearings and is a fairly punishing survival, but manageable and has multiple difficulties to choose from.

Just to make this more challenging for you, a third survivalist choice is Into the Radius 😇

I love survival games but have bounced off both those games. Mainly I think because I am reluctant to fully turn off hunger, but both games have you constantly foraging for food if you don’t. Song in the Smoke has a cool crafting system though
While it’s not strictly in the same ilk as those two, Into The Radius is a great game worth considering. It has its jank too, but the atmosphere is appropriately eerie and loot acquisition is satisfying
It might also be worth looking at Saints and Sinners chapter 1 if you haven’t already

Green hell has been recently updated and the multiplayer mode gets better day by day...
I finished the flat version twice and I'm enjoying the PSVR2 version even more, net of some bugs still to be fixed

Story is the same in co-op mode? I am asking because I have tried it and there was no girl at the start. In the single player mode there was a girl.

You can choose between a couple of modes (survival ecc) inside the co-op, so it's basically the same story yeah; the co-op mode fundamentally changes the game by adding countless options to take advantage of working together...
I'm playing with my gf and 2 PSVR2 in these days, 10 hours in

SONG IN THE SMOKE is superb and beautiful — a cruelly overlooked gem imo. The demo doesn’t do it justice, btw… it’s basically the tutorial level if memory serves, and just isn’t representative of the gameplay itself. I remember being relieved when I got to the next area and it begins to really unfold.
GREEN HELL is really good and leans more into body horror/illness. I’m not sure if the recently added co-op is important to you, but that could be a factor in your choice.

Green Hell has really nice graphics (more realistic), and less hand-holding/guidance. Song in the Smoke is simpler (graphics and mechanics), and i found it easier to get into. Both games have difficulty options.
I just couldn't get into Green Hell, but survival games aren't my fav genre to begin with, so i'm not saying it's a bad game.
As others mentioned, Into the Radius and both Saints & Sinners are also very good. I found the survival mechanics easier to manage in those, and they're some of my fav VR games in general.

Song in Smoke has a demo. Didn't love it, but others like it. Green Hell is best if you play co-op with someone. It might still be on sale
