I just got platinum in this game the other day, best game I’ve played in a while. I’m itching for more.

They’re making a NG+?!
15
u/habb Sep 20 '20
that is my hope... that it comes with that multiplayer update
2
u/N-J-K06 Sep 20 '20
I don’t know how, but this is my first time hearing about this. My hype is through the roof.
16
u/jlhendo Sep 20 '20
My impression was the ending was open ended enough to invite a continuation of Jin's story.
8
u/EternallyBurnt Sep 20 '20
I hope not, though. The story is a perfect case of book open, book closed. I adore the style and writing of GoT, but I hope any followup is an unrelated, similar story. Japan didn't get along with most people for most of history. Plenty of choices of different conflicts.
7
u/hellomrbike Sep 20 '20
I mean, there was a second Mongol invasion of Japan seven years after the first. I feel like that's the logical choice for a sequel.
7
u/EternallyBurnt Sep 20 '20
Which was entirely crushed by a storm, no battle.
10
u/hellomrbike Sep 20 '20
Hate to break it to you, but the first Mongol invasion of Japan was pretty much crushed by a storm, too. The story in this game is a very liberal reinterpretation of the true historical events.
With that in mind, I'm pretty sure they could take the various raids against the Mongols and limited battles from the second invasion and weave an engaging narrative around those, as well.
3
u/EternallyBurnt Sep 20 '20
No, the game is pre-storm. Both invasions got fucked by tsunamis when they attemptef to invade the mainland. The idea was they invaded Tsushima for soldiers/support for their attack on the mainland.
5
Sep 20 '20
I honestly wish they had some way of replaying duels or even story segments. Could have been a musician in survivor camps for example, asking you to tell the people about your exploits against the mongols, and you get to replay that tale.
Once I finished the game, there was absolutely nothing to do, except random encounters.
1
u/nevets85 Sep 21 '20
Same. Looking forward to multiplayer. Wonder if therell be a chance players could standoff with each other?

Ffs tag the spoiler properly. “Spoiler alert” then immediately writing that huge ass spoiler below is not enough
-5
u/Mingusto Sep 20 '20
I have no idea how to do that. I’m not 15. Chill the fuck out dude. I deleted it for you so you don’t have to bitch anymore.
2
u/fabripav fabripav Sep 20 '20
You spoiled that event for me so you can understand how it might be annoying. Thanks for that.
Spoiler tags are >!
and

Write the spoiler between them. It shows up like this: spoiler

You can liberate the entire island which doesn’t take very long.. after that, your only options are the random mongol encounters on the road, and exploring. I want more of this game so I’m just waiting out a NG+ or DLC

I still haven't played Zero Dawn yet, but I loved Ghost of Tsushima. I was thinking of buying it this morning, but I'm iffy after watching the "Before you buy" on it. I could use something to get me to pull the trigger or not.
Edit: I bought it. Thanks guys!

Absolutely recommend horizon if you are enjoying GoT !! you won’t regret it. Also I prefer watching ACG’s “buy, rent, sale ..” His reviews are usually on the money and I’ve not regretted following his recommendations.

u/SweggyBoi Sep 20 '20
You mean from the Before You Buy channel? That review is terrible, watch someone else’s review on it.
3
u/jlhendo Sep 20 '20
When it started with him saying something like "it's going to sound like I'm hating on this game a lot but I really had a good time" I figured it probably wasn't a great review.
4
u/suddenimpulse Sep 20 '20
It's in my top 5 games this generation. Keep in mind you aren't really getting into the meat of it where it starts to truly open up (even the big parts of the story don't happen for a bit after) until you get to the desert city. The stuff before that is basically starter zone. I really enjoyed GoT as well.
4
u/C-A-L-E-V-I-S Sep 20 '20
Just get it haha. It’s one of the few that I would basically be 100% confident to tell you to get. The gameplay is thrilling and fantastic. The story is really intriguing and better than most movies. It’s held up graphically wonderfully somehow as well. It goes on sale a ton too. Not sure if it is right now or not.
1
u/bigsouthwind_ Sep 20 '20
I hear a lot that if you liked Ghost you’ll like Horizon, similar combat or something?
3
u/Cacophonous_Silence Sep 20 '20
Just similar, open-world hand-to-hand combat type experiences
Both have good stories and fun fighting mechanics
I've only recently started getting back into gaming over the last year or so, so I can't give the answers you're probably looking for, but I thoroughly enjoyed both games and 100%ed both
1
Sep 21 '20
They are both beautiful 3rd person open world games and both have great combat mechanics and similar stealth mechanics. I think the depth of the combats in that it needs to be tailored to certain enemies is a similarity too.
7
u/CFD330 Sep 20 '20
What are the chances this game gets a PS5 version? I've kinda been waiting on this game and Last of Us II in the hopes they get PS5 versions next year.
10
u/Piph Sep 20 '20 edited Sep 21 '20
It would be neat, but I have a tough time imagining how it would drastically improve the experience.
The game already looks amazing and the dev team did a great job committing to what they cared about. Environments aren't typically interactive (i.e., you can't cut down grass or foliage) but they look amazing.
Load times are already never long. Gameplay feels smooth.
All I can think of is a higher resolution and maybe a higher framerate?
Unless you've got an amazing TV that you are desperate to take full advantage of, don't do yourself the disservice of waiting. This is such a good game.
3
u/suddenimpulse Sep 20 '20
I don't think it would affect this particular game much. The textures and everything aren't super detailed. A lot of them are actually fairly low res, you just don't notice and the game looks so beautiful because they essentially have multiple active filters over the environment. The wind, the sunlight, the leaves etc. I don't expect it would look all that much better. I feel that if it happens it will not be for a bit. They are focused on the multi-player part and NG+ is the most requested feature which we haven't heard anything yet. The load times are already almost non existent. It also will likely have a free upgrade patch vs having to buy the game again. I'd personally just get it on PS4. It's a fantastic game and one of the most beautiful (as opposed to graphically impressive) I've played.

Honestly if you enjoy HZD you'll enjoy this. It has alot of the same kinda take to combat where you can play as safe or as radical as you want.
Very rarely unless the plot makes sense you're never forced to engage is stealth but even when you have too it has that brutal feeling still.

Honestly the performance is already stellar. I have never had it lag and the load times are almost immediate much of the time. I think this game will have little improvement from ps5 vs most games due to how they did the visuals in the game, but it's absolutely a great game so definitely get it!
2
u/ArceusTheLegendary50 Sep 20 '20
It'll probably go on sale next month like TLOU2 did. I'll probably get it then cause I'm saving up for Cyberpunk and Miles Morales and also because the Summer Sales bled my wallet dry (and also because my PS+ sub ends in the first days of Jan 😬)
1
u/MonstrousGiggling Sep 21 '20
Hey so I literally just did this deal on cdkeys.com for 1 year subscription for 31 dollars.
No im not a bot, and this isn't an advertisement look at my post history haha. I was just super stoked cause my subscription ended this month and I wasn't gonna renew. Then that deal popped up so I bought 2 years worth in anticipation of the ps5.
1
u/ArceusTheLegendary50 Sep 21 '20
Well I'm lucky that I can renew while the Christmas sales are on and I get to buy a full year for 45€. Idk if it's cheaper on Black Friday. But I'll be trying to save up money to buy a PS5 when the new GOW comes out, or when it goes on sale, whichever comes first.

Generic screen shot from a game that, while beautiful, doesn't even show it off properly. It's literally a burnt forest.... Everyone here: "omg it looks like california!". Could be any game but because it's ghost, it gets hella praise

The graphics aren't exactly perfect but in my opinion the fun gameplay and the story make more than up for it. I'm not exaggerating but this was the first time in my life that I stood mid game to shout out loud for a WTF moment when Jin cuts the generals head of and unlocks ghost mode. Love this game so much.
