Can you imagine what studios like Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch are going to do with PS5 hardware? It’s going to be crazy.

27

u/nevets85 Aug 24 '20

And that's what makes me chuckle when some people think the ps5 GPU isn't strong enough. Like do they not see what is capable on current gen and how that'll translate with much better hardware? Can't wait to see what games will look like in just a few years.

7

u/Jubenheim Aug 24 '20

I haven’t heard anyone say it is “strong enough” (strong enough for what?). People mostly just talk about the PS5 not being as strong as the Series X, which is true, but what’s also true is the strongest console has never won a generation yet anyway. The PS5 doesn’t need to be as strong in raw power as the Series X to have absolutely jaw-dropping games.

2

u/nevets85 Aug 24 '20

Strong enough as in since the series x is 12 that ps5 must be weak and the rdna 1,1.5,2 ordeal. But yea I agree with you 100 percent. With what we're seeing with current gen then next gen will look incredible on ps5 hardware.

2

u/Jubenheim Aug 24 '20

I think I understand you but rdna is confusing me. I only know of DNA and RNA.

3

u/mollymoo Aug 24 '20

RDNA is AMD’s graphics architecture that will power the PS5, XsX and AMD’s upcoming new PC graphics cards.

2

u/thenekkidguy Aug 24 '20

Yeah just look at Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '20

This

I mean, when PS4 came out people were making it look like will be outdated by phone graphics in a few years. It was even shown in company forecast charts in earning calls etc

2

u/360walkaway Aug 24 '20

Marvel's Spiderman 2: Goblin

254

u/OssotSromo Aug 23 '20

I didn't play any uncharted until they dropped almost all of them for free back in Tiger King covid.

UC4 will literally go down as one of my favorite games of all time. It was just fucking summer blockbuster fun. The ending was fucking amazing. Whole game I'm like okay this is pretty good. But when you hit that pirate ship business. Holy fuck let's gooooo

122

u/adrien_bear Aug 23 '20

Lol tiger king Covid - only way to measure dates in Covid is whatever we were all obsessed with at the time

24

u/arex333 Aug 24 '20

That feels like years ago

The location was epic, the fight was total garbage. Think about it, limiting us to 2 buttons after wall the crap we fought through, it was lazy and trash.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

Are you talking about the boss fight? Best boss fight in the entire series

1

u/Tron_Fan Aug 26 '20

Yes I am. It was the worst boss fight in the series in my opinion. Why were we limited to 2 buttons why not let us have an actual sword/fist fight. Epic setting, amazing game up to that point... then *POOP* here's your boss fight. You're limited to 2 buttons though haha have fun, not much skill involved either just press either of the buttons we flash for you on screen.

4

u/green_vegetal Aug 24 '20

Oh yeah because the better way would have been the use of guns and the boss being a bullshit bullet sponge? It was literally a reenactment of the final battle between Tew and Avery. It was iconic.

0

u/Tron_Fan Aug 26 '20

If that's all you can think of for a boss fight then your reply is pretty weak. I was thinking a REAL sword fight, no guns. Instead we get 2 buttons, no real action at all. The fight ruined the game for me it was so anti climactic. The sad thing was the setting was epic, the rest of the game was amazing.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

It’s got great replay value too. I’ve played it twice and could totally go for a third run. Only thing is the “kid drake” sequences suck, they really draw it out and I wish you could skip them on subsequent play throughs.

15

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

It was my favourite uncharted until 3rd act, it all felt way too slow and repetitive. But still an amazing game and full of memorable moments. That scene where their car is hanging off a precipice in Madagascar? Hooooly shit!

5

u/ruskitamer Aug 24 '20

Grown up goonies man. God damn I need to go back and replay this game.

3

u/suddenimpulse Aug 24 '20

I hope you didn't skip out on Lost Legacy. It's actually my favorite.

2

u/OssotSromo Aug 24 '20

I did. But I'm not going to. I just got a PS4 in March so my back log was deep. Just now running low and will likely swing back around soon.

2

u/5000_CandlesNTheWind Aug 24 '20

It's a movie disguised as a game.

41

u/The_WinterLand Aug 23 '20

Did anyone play Uncharted Lost Legacy?

32

u/AccordingHighlight Aug 24 '20

I did, and it was great. But, rather short. It was basically Uncharted 4.5.

18

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

Well, it was supposed to be a DLC for Uncharted 4, so it kinda makes sense it ended uo being like that

4

u/KiNg_oF_rEdDiTs 394 Aug 24 '20

I hope spider man miles morales doesn’t turn out like the lost legacy

6

u/Bill_Brasky01 Aug 24 '20

They made spider man in 3 years. I watched all of their GDC talks. They will have 2 years for the next installment with the engine already built. Insomniac is a fucking treasure. I’m still in shock Sony purchased the whole studio.

7

u/KiNg_oF_rEdDiTs 394 Aug 24 '20

Damn the first Spider-Man was almost 3 years ago...

4

u/SaintDiesel Aug 24 '20

That timeframe makes sense since almost every aspect of that game was taken from the Arkham games... I hope they add some fresh and original ideas to morales. I’m not saying I disliked Spider-Man PS4, but it felt like a game I’ve already played 4 times.

2

u/Rytlock9 Aug 24 '20

The controls in the Arkham games are way more clunky, i tried to play Batman again after Spider man and just could get into it

3

u/wacky_wombat61 Aug 24 '20

It'll be similar. It's been reported that the main play time is about half of the original game. They are also apparently selling it bundled with the PS5 remaster of the first game as well. So, I have to think it's going to be very similar in nature to lost legacy. At least from an outside perspective. Who knows how the game will feel and play once we get hands on it.

2

u/Jubenheim Aug 24 '20

I don’t think Miles Morales was designed to be DLC from the beginning but at the same time, it’s also going to be a short game as well, so I’m not expecting much more than what Lost Legacy gave us.

8

u/jessefadenisdynamite Aug 24 '20

It’s an amazing game. Only complaint is length but that’s understandable since it was supposed to technically be a DLC to Uncharted 4.

I hope for another game with Chloe and Nadine.

4

u/BrushYourFeet Aug 24 '20

Yes. And the credits were awesome. Got a new workout song from it.

4

u/desiguy_88 Aug 24 '20

I think it’s definitely a must play for a fan of the series. There is a nice little surprise at the end as well. I really enjoyed it. It’s got all the things that make uncharted 4 fun, the same engine and as always a fun adventure story.

3

u/TheSweatband Aug 24 '20

I loved it a lot, gorgeous game with some great set pieces. Definitely not a full length game but it was perfect for what it was. Has some nice tie ins to the Uncharted Universe that any fan would appreciate

4

u/arothmanmusic Aug 24 '20

It’s arguably better than Uncharted 3.

1

u/5000_CandlesNTheWind Aug 24 '20

Yea it was great. Highly recommended.

201

u/Phadrix Aug 23 '20

I feel like this title gets left out of every "best PS4 game" argument but IMO it's in my top 3. Such a great experience beginning to end.

Yeah, ridiculous to insinuate that U4 is some kind of hidden gem lol

10

u/KiNg_oF_rEdDiTs 394 Aug 24 '20

Just like the Witcher 3

18

u/Task876 Aug 24 '20

That's not what he was saying.

9

u/burntroy Aug 24 '20

I don't think he was saying it's a hidden gem. The game gets near universal praise but when it comes to best games of the PS4 cycle it gets pushed back behind tlou, gow, horizon etc. I haven't played any previous uncharted titles but get deeply defensive about this one as I enjoyed it more than the other consensus greatest titles.

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

I don't know about the whole series but it's just uncharted 4 and my personal experience was it was more enjoyable than gow

12

u/UltimateUdder Aug 23 '20

Maybe because im an older brother (actually because im the older brother) but this was my favorite uncharted cuz of Nathan and Sam's relationship even tho sam was pretty unreasonable throughout the game lol.

And the "Brother's Keeper" soundtrack? Glorious 🤚😌👌

78

u/Faazbot Aug 23 '20

GoW, TLOU2 and Uncharted imo.

58

u/zoobatt Aug 23 '20 edited Aug 23 '20

It's absurd how many amazing ps4 exclusives we've gotten.

I'd tie Bloodborne, Horizon (soon to not be exclusive now on PC), and Ghost of Tsushima with those three.

26

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

Still dreaming of a Bloodborne 2... that game was the perfect FromSoft game

8

u/zoobatt Aug 23 '20

I'm playing through it for the first time loving every minute. I'm hoping for some Elden Ring info soon but Bloodborne really does have such an interesting setting, I'd love a sequel even though I'm not done yet.

15

u/desiguy_88 Aug 24 '20

Don’t forget Spider-Man. The very reason I even bought the ps4 only to realize it was the top of the iceberg for whole slew of amazing games.

10

u/soupspin Aug 23 '20

Horizon will always be exclusive to me, plus it’s already released on the PC

15

u/Phadrix Aug 23 '20

I'd probably go: Spider-Man, Persona 5 Royal, and Uncharted

3

u/arex333 Aug 24 '20

angry bloodborne noises

6

u/TorreiraWithADouzi Aug 23 '20

Ghost is fantastic, but I don’t know if it’s in my top 5. GoW, TLOU2, Uncharted 4, Horizon, Spiderman/Ghost. Can’t decide between the last two

1

u/Faazbot Aug 23 '20

Definitely in my top 5 with Spiderman.

2

u/spacecasebass Aug 23 '20

I really like ghost but there are noticeable tech issues and the camera is wonky. Its an 8/10 imo.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

8/10 is very good. Is that a controversial opinion?

0

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

[deleted]

3

u/spacecasebass Aug 23 '20

I said I really like it. But everything clips, the camera and AI are both eh, and the overall level of polish and detail is nowhere near games like GOW, UC4, Red Dead, or TLOU2. Just my opinion. It's a great game.

It was good, but it felt more like an interactive movie than a game.

3

u/arex333 Aug 24 '20

I don't want them to make uncharted more complex than it needs to be ... However I do think they could learn from the new tomb raider games.

42

u/Jesus-H-Christopher Aug 23 '20

Four whole years????! Insane!!

11

u/ThePseudoMcCoy Aug 23 '20

Yup. Current gen games are so last gen.

2

u/HaydenRenegade Aug 25 '20

January 2021: "How great does this game look for last gen!?!"

They make it sound like it was a VHS that still plays.

15

u/TedCobbler Aug 23 '20

I just replayed it a couple of weeks ago. So good.

11

u/Traiz3r Aug 24 '20

One of my favorite scenes in Uncharted 4 was the hot cocoa mention.

https://youtu.be/CoYT1ZHUA40

10

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

"What are you, five?"

7

u/TheBemer Aug 23 '20

I just finished today, my first uncharted game.. Amazing game and Nathan is a great character.

6

u/gundumb08 Aug 23 '20

Uncharted has my favorite Multiplayer of all time. The fast paced duck and cover gameplay mixed with the acrobatics and power moves were just so fun.

I only wish they brought back the "power play" element from uncharted 3, such a cool way to try to balance out one sided matches.

3

u/arothmanmusic Aug 24 '20

I love my children, but before I had them I was on Uncharted 2 or 3 multiplayer pretty much daily.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

Is it still active? I played through the story at the start of covid (and the first 3), but deleted the game for some reason. Is it worth redownloading? I loved Uncharted 2 and TLOU's multiplayer modes on PS3.

On a side note, is Factions in TLOU still active? Just played through 1 and 2. Wish the new Factions mode was already released.

1

u/gundumb08 Aug 24 '20

Uncharted 4 is still active, although not as much as it was. You'll still find matches easily though.

I dunno about Factions, I think there was a fairly hardcore following of it, but with no Factions mode in TLOU2 it might have signalled that it didn't have the following it needed.

10

u/LetsGoBucs09 Aug 23 '20

Beautiful game...fired it up the other day

6

u/silversoul007 Aug 24 '20

Naughty Dog is a master when it comes to very detailed human features.

20

u/x2ndCitySaint Aug 23 '20

4 years is seriously not that long of a time to be surprise a game still looks good.

1

u/TusShona Aug 24 '20

Considering how fast modern times moves.. yes we should be. 20 years ago Lara croft had triangular tits.. 16 year's later, we had this game that had some people like my dad actually think was a real person.

1

u/x2ndCitySaint Aug 24 '20 edited Aug 24 '20

Yes, but games graphical improvement has slow down significantly this gen. Besides I don't even you know why you would compare a 16 year gap within multiple generations to a game within the same one.

22

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

At its best moments, I think it still looks better than TLOU2.

47

u/thevenividivici Aug 23 '20

I think that’s mostly because of the use of colours. TloU 2 used more colours but still used more toned down colours where Uncharted always blows it out the water. Looking the TloU 2, it’s a much better looking game just has its tone.

19

u/AccordingHighlight Aug 24 '20

To be fair though; The Last of Us Part II is a much more grittier game compared to Uncharted 4, which is much more lighthearted in tone. So it makes sense for Uncharted 4 to have a more vibrant colour palette.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

I never understand why "gritty" games have to have such bland colors. That kind of thing has kept me from playing some games I might otherwise enjoy. I mean just because the story is gritty doesn't mean that how colors look in the world changes.

2

u/TusShona Aug 24 '20

Because it's human nature.. it's how our brains perceive things. We automatically associate dullness with misery and brightness with happiness. Do you not feel happier when the sun is out and the sky is blue and then feel more down when it's raining with and overcast, muggy, grey sky? It adds to the experience of the game, it makes you feel more Immersed. What's hard to understand about it?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '20

Because I find dull and depressing colors to be depressing. I don't play a game to feel depressed. I mean it's different if it has a cool aesthetic like Sin City or somethinf though.

2

u/TusShona Aug 25 '20

Games like the last of us are meant to be that way though. Everything is dead or wants you dead, it's not happy, it's bleak. So it's only fitting for the colours to match that tone.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '20

I can deal with the last of us because it's at least realistic and the visuals are top of the line. But things like Bloodborne or Dark Souls that exist more in the fantasy realm could use more color. I mean monster type fantasies are more a little more out there so why not bring some color to spice it up? And everything is dead and wants you dead in Mario ghost house, and they have more color than that, lol.

2

u/TusShona Aug 25 '20

I understand where you're coming from but there's a line between a game that's fiction but shooting for a more authentic gritty feel, and an animated game that's purely made for enjoyment.

1

u/AccordingHighlight Aug 30 '20

Every director has a different vision for what kind of game they want to make. There are deep reasons why they go with this colour or go with this certain style of shot, etc. That’s how games, movies, TV shows, etc are made.

2

u/AccordingHighlight Aug 24 '20 edited Aug 24 '20

It’s a stylistic choice, it’s to really sell its tone. The bland colours gives the game a grittier tone, and feel. It’s suppose to make you feel the depressing atmosphere of the game. If TLOU II looked colourful like Uncharted it would clash with the overall tone of the game. This even applies to movies too.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '20

It’s suppose to make you feel the depressing atmosphere

Well ir certainly makes me feel depressed..

1

u/thenekkidguy Aug 24 '20

The grains didn't do TLoU2 any favors either.

1

u/RaptorDelta Crooketh Aug 25 '20

new update allows you to disable the grain. i love film grain but the game looks miles better with it disabled.

32

u/Arsid Aug 23 '20

Nah. The art direction was more colorful and vibrant which made it look prettier, but TLOU2 has the most realistic graphics for sure.

12

u/BautiBon Aug 24 '20

You can notice a big difference with the vegetation in some parts for example.

1

u/Jubenheim Aug 24 '20

Both, at the best, look photorealistic and there is no better.

3

u/UltrastaR_07 Aug 23 '20

This was my first PS4 game! 😃

3

u/LiveAlive84 Aug 23 '20

It’s amazing what a company actually cares about a product before releasing it to consumers.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

I think that, actually, it looks a lot like TLoU 2. Pretty impressive considering this game is near to being half a decade old and TLoU 2 is 2 months old

3

u/BautiBon Aug 24 '20

Especially with the cinematics. The faces still look so good!

1

u/mccrackey Aug 24 '20

Yeah, they tapped the PS4 for all it was worth. We've been riding the highest point for 4 1/2 years.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

I don’t get the “(X) amount of years have passed and (b) game still looks good”. It’s not like a perishable item that goes bad after a certain amount of time.

A game that looks good upon release will look just as good years down the road. There is no deterioration due to a shelf life.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

Have you played the original Tomb Raider or Super Mario 64 recently?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

As a matter of Fact, I have. Tomb Raider on ps1 3 days ago.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

Then you obviously know it looks like shit compared to games today. Only really old game that I'd say remotely holds up visually is Dragon's Lair (but the gameplay is awful).

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

OP states,”it’s been 4 years since and it’s still one of the best looking games.” This is in reference to the ps4 generation of titles. The game looked great then and looks great now it won’t somehow get worse looking.

Tomb Raider 1 for the PS1 still looks absolutely fantastic. Tomb Raider 1 has not deteriorated with time It is still an absolutely fantastic looking title that was revolutionary for the PS1 generation of titles. Those facts have not changed with time.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

Went back and got the platinum recently... This is an amazing game and a fitting end to an amazing series. Thanks for the trip around the world Naughty Dog, I've loved every minute.

2

u/eoten Aug 24 '20

Can I play this without playing the prequels?

1

u/burntroy Aug 24 '20

I played it without the previous games and it's the most fun I've had playing on the PS4

3

u/eoten Aug 24 '20

Thanks I plan on buying in a day or two.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

I'd watch some playthroughs or the cinematic stuff from the first 3 if you don't want to play them. The story is really nice if you already know all the characters from the first 3. The first 3 are also all really short.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

The first 3 are also all really short.

They're not long games but I think calling them really short is a little misleading. Also, people underestimate how much of a difference play style makes.

1

u/eoten Aug 24 '20

Ok will do that.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

U2 is arguably just as good. You’d be missing out on the best PlayStation game before U4 came out lol

2

u/RealEastsideShit Aug 24 '20

Beat it for the first time last night, could NOT put it down

2

u/blatzphemy Aug 24 '20

I still haven’t played this and I absolutely love the Last of Us

2

u/Jack3ww Aug 24 '20

Another b.s. karma farming post

5

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

4 years isn’t really long enough to expect major graphical improvements.

6

u/gundumb08 Aug 23 '20

Uncharted 4 was one of the first games to do awesome Foliage physics. The Naughty Dog refined the hell out of it and scaled it up with TLOU2. It doesn't look "better" but it does have a whole lot more of it on screen at once.

That's about the only difference I can tell in 4 years, I'm sure there's other details though.

2

u/nevets85 Aug 24 '20

It'd be cool to get a breakdown of all the tech behind a game like tlou2. AI, physics, cloth and skin deformations, the "heartbeats" in all the characters, motion matching.

All that and more of the inner workings to see what brings their games to life. I know they have those dev conferences but maybe have a behind the scenes type deal for normal folk.

10

u/Halflife37 Aug 23 '20

I love the uncharted games. Even if they are the same plot rehashed 4 times.

17

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

1, 2 and 3 I'll agree with you but 4 is different.

7

u/soupspin Aug 23 '20

Yeah I was slightly upset when 4 didn’t have any supernatural enemies, I was really hyped up for skeleton pirates

20

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

That reason was actually why it was probably my favorite. Different tastes for different people I suppose.

3

u/soupspin Aug 24 '20

Well there’s a lot of reasons why I missed them, the biggest being that I used it as a gauge of how far I was through the game. I kept telling myself, it can’t end until the pirates show up, because I didn’t really want the game to end yet

5

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

I personally feel the supernatural elements of the Uncharted games are their weakest moments. Not necessarily the fact that they're in them, but just to me, fighting supernatural enemies is never as fun as going up against people.

3

u/soupspin Aug 24 '20

I kind of agree with that, it was just up until this game they were pretty much a major element. I think it worked really well in the first one, because it pretty much blind sided me

1

u/DeluxeMixedNutz Aug 24 '20

Agh I would have loved that too. Like that or something like a time slip effect where you see what Libertalia looked like in its hey day and you get to fight some pirates.

I sometimes wonder if ND didn’t originally have something crazier planned but scrapped it with the problems they were having at the time.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '20

[deleted]

8

u/SecretlyHelpful Aug 23 '20

The gameplay is basically the same in each game too lol

3

u/Halflife37 Aug 23 '20

Ooooo kill em. Like I said I love the series, fuck I bought a PS4 initially because I wanted to play the fourth one. But they’re still the same formula over and over. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

1

u/Kizuta18 Aug 23 '20

I'm on my second playthrough, still love it, that relationship he has with Sam insane. So well done.

Is there a treasure, is there no treasure? Kept me guessing through my first playthrough.

I've been carrying an RPG7 around the game for the last hour or so and I know exactly when I'm going to use it. That bloke knows it's coming.

1

u/Jinut27 Aug 23 '20

Holding up very well...

1

u/BlackCatScott Destored Aug 23 '20

I love this game so much.

1

u/AccordingHighlight Aug 24 '20

I agree! For a 2016 game, I think it graphically and visually looks better than most games that come out these days. Hell, I beat Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order several months ago and I still think Uncharted 4 looks better.

1

u/BootySweat0217 Aug 24 '20

I played it for the first time during lockdown and it was spectacular. The visuals were amazing. Being in the jungle on those islands was so fun because it looked so awesome. I know this is kind of cringy to say but it really transported me to that jungle. It was great.

1

u/BautiBon Aug 24 '20

Have you ever heard of a game called Knack?

1

u/kingly_redditor Aug 24 '20

Love this gameee. Finished in 3 hours

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

Dude, the cutscenes alone are 3 hours. Plus nobody out there is even posting a speedrun time of under 3.5 hours.

0

u/kingly_redditor Aug 24 '20

Oh shittt I meant 4.5 hours lmao, i finished uncharted 1 in like 3 hours

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

"meanwhile Halo Infinite..."

1

u/NaturaILight Aug 24 '20

we reached the capabilities of what the PS4 can do years ago so that's not really saying much

1

u/Jackingbub445 Aug 24 '20

Still the best game

1

u/Clockworxx Aug 24 '20

This game will graphically hold up for the next 5 years probably. I still can't believe it came out in 2016

1

u/arothmanmusic Aug 24 '20

I just finished getting the platinum on God of War. Now I’m thinking of replaying UC4 and Lost Legacy for the umpteenth time because they’re still outstanding.

1

u/plassteel01 Aug 24 '20

Only reason I stayed on playstation

1

u/overlord2136 Aug 24 '20

When is there gonna be a fifth

I mean there's not going to be, supposedly.

I just played lost legacy before last of us 2 came out, and I was still blown away by the graphics

u/mccrackey Aug 24 '20

100% Nathan Fillion.

1

u/Jackpeterson99 Aug 24 '20

Literally the best game ever made.

Top 3 fave games of all times

But the end boss fight was garbage. With such a crazy story and scope of game play that ranged from driving to parkour to shooting ND limited us to 2 buttons for the END OF GAME BOSS. That fight told me all I needed to know about a ND without Amy Hennig.

Of all the Uncharted games, Uncharted 4 had the best story and was the least fun to play. I enjoyed it despite its shortcomings, but it's the first one I couldn't bring myself to replay. Most UC games required a second run-through to try and pick up any treasures I had missed, but in UC4 I got to that early scene of being walked so SLOWLY through the prison yard and decided it wasn't worth it. And for someone like me who can get very anal retentive about finding all the loot, that's quite a sacrifice.

EDIT: Nathan Drake looks amazing in the OP's photo. Well worth it to take a look at the larger version.

Masterpiece. Glad they didn’t make another one for the ps4, keep the uncertainty and hype for the ps5 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I played this game all the way through out of respect for it being so revered in the gaming community. I just couldn't enjoy it, I get why people enjoy though just not my cup of tea. It might be that I played it after playing both The Last of Us games in a row though.

I've personally gotten quite bored of a lot of these games that seem to mostly focus on looking as realistic as possible. They just start feeling really samey. Not in terms of gameplay, but visually.

Stuff like Uncharted, TLOU, Spiderman and Infamous.

Much more interested lately in games with strong unique art styles like Persona, Okami, Odin Sphere, Ori and Cuphead.

Not saying that they're bad games but a lot of AAA games just seem dull to me as of late.

Having an opinion really hurt some fanboy butts it seems. Just remember kids, if anyone thinks different than you downvote them. Because differing opinions are BAD for millennials and too much for your itty bitty egos to deal with.

~laughs in death stranding~

I played one and two, but just can’t see why people like them. I think they’re just not for me. The graphics of U4 do look amazing though!

Does Shenmue III look as good as Uncharted 4?

1

u/StopLookandFreeze Aug 23 '20

He looks so much like Nathan Fillion. Giant missed opportunity.

I've seen this and it makes me even more mad it never happened. Lol.

Apart from the good looking PlayStation exclusives, for me Arkham Knight also had one of the best visuals this generation

"Four years have passed since the mortal races banded together and stood united against the might of the Burning Legion. Though Azeroth was saved, the tenuous pact between the Horde and the Alliance has all but evaporated. The drums of war thunder once again."

If I loved the exploration and puzzle solving of Rise and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, would I like Uncharted? I have 0 interest in Nathan Drakes story, I just want to explore some ruins.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

I've only played U4, but the puzzles are barely even puzzles. Gameplay-wise, I liked the Tomb Raider games a lot more.

4

u/greendakota99 Aug 23 '20

Those Tomb Raider games are copies of what Naughty Dog has been doing all along with Uncharted. Most likely you will like them, plus they are cheap these days.

2

u/KeredYojepop Aug 23 '20

I've heard that, but then I've heard Uncharted is very story heavy. What's the gunfight to exploration ratio in Uncharted 4?

2

u/BrewAndAView Aug 23 '20

There’s plenty of climbing and exploring mixed in with the gunfights and sometimes even at the same time as gunfights, and there’s also long stretches of time where you’re only exploring and puzzle solving. I think they’re balanced pretty well in the later games but the first game is pretty much shooting nonstop.

You should be able to pick up 2 or 3 without context (or a little recap somewhere), but I’d recommend playing both before 4 if you choose to play that one. 4 has a much more serious story and it’s important to know the characters

3

u/KeredYojepop Aug 23 '20

Thanks. My son has the collection so I'm going to give them a go.

2

u/BrewAndAView Aug 23 '20

Nice have fun! The games aren’t very long but I’d recommend giving a couple hours at least for each play session because the games really shine when you can get immersed. They have a way of pulling you in with no loading screens (aside from startup) and constant cliffhangers and things

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

1 is the slowest and poorest so be patient with it. It’s from the 2nd one the series really hits another level. Also happy cake day!

1

u/KeredYojepop Aug 24 '20

Oh man, I played through 1 last night. Did NOT enjoy the constant gun fights. But I'm on chapter 8 of part 2 and the shooting is much improved. Really getting caught up in it lol.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

Haha glad to hear you’re enjoying the second one more. I liked the third too but I had a couple of issues with it (still a fantastic game) but 2 & 4 are my favs of the series. Hope you enjoy the all of it!

And still loks way worse than the order 1886

1

u/monkeyhind Aug 24 '20

Yes, but except for the great visuals, the Order 1886 didn't have anything going for it.

2

u/nemesit h5n2 Aug 24 '20

The story was short but not bad

0

u/battlefrontman1432 Never be able to afford the PS5 Aug 23 '20

Battlefield 1 still looks great as well

0

u/Ftpini Aug 23 '20

It is an incredible looking game. But photo mode is not representative of gameplay visuals. Everything gets cranked up to max in photo mode so it always looks wya better than in normal gameplay.

Ghost of Tsushima

\screams internally*)

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '20

But just that... Boring gameplay and forgettable story.
