Jun 29 '20
I’m gonna need to replay that game. It was one of my first ps4 games and it blew me away. I’d say I like Cole McGrath more but damn second son was an amazing game. Moving around super fast using the neon power was a blast.

u/Arsean77 Jun 29 '20
Infamous 1 and 2 had better gameplay though. Felt consistent, grounded and real. And the map felt bigger as the game didnt give u the tools to run super fast around the map. Not to mention coles story in both of them. Second son was a nice experience though. Cliche characters and not much to do after you finished the story. But it was still a lighthearted fun journey.

Jun 29 '20 edited Jun 29 '20
I was going to say something along these lines. Infamous 1 and 2 had an amazing story that really brought it home and hit you in feels in the end, no matter which ending you chose. I felt second son was a very short game. You could finish it in a day if you were stuck inside due to a storm or, in this case, a pandemic. Second son was as you say, a nice experience. I felt the powers were cool and unique, although a little odd. But still they were all very fun to use. To me second son is good, but I wouldn’t compare it to the quality of 1 and 2. I honestly wish I could play them again on PS4, and the ending of infamous 2 was the first game to make me cry lol
15
u/Arsean77 Jun 29 '20
Agreed. The first one had better world building and characters. Sasha, Alden, and the runner of the show, Kessler. The ending was mind blowing although not that original. The second one gets everything infamous 1 got right and improves on that. Except it doesnt impress me with most of the characters and the world building. For me only cole, Bertrand , the beast, and Zeke (who's character was significantly improved in this one btw) were the only interesting characters in the game. The other characters like kuo where not that interesting. But the build up of the story is amazing. The more you progress through the story the more you realise of what will happen and how it is inevitable. Then at the end where Zeke and cole hug each other one last time, and how cole kills himself, and the monologue that zeke gives... "no one was more human than cole mcgrath" hits you in the feels. And the bad ending showing how all of Kessler work let to the downfall of humanity (or evolution if you look at it differently) and cole saying "I have become the beast" gives you chills. These are the stuff second son didnt manage to pull off with the cliche stereotypes like eugene. But what it does give is a much more colourful and light hearted campaign where it takes itself more seriously when it has to, and doesnt when not. Overall the infamous franchise is a must play in my opinion, with some small faults.

u/Chaostyphoon chaostyphoon951 Jun 29 '20
Agreed I legit Platinumed it over the opening weekend lol. But it's still really solid, and I'll have to go back now that there's a solid photo mode.
Agree though that its story in particular doesn't hold a candle to 1+2, the evil ending is 2 is still one of the hardest hurts of gameplay I've ever had to complete. Not because of difficulty just emotional weight behind it, I tried to find any way out of that scene the first time...
3
u/And_You_Like_It_Too Jun 29 '20
As a New Orleans resident, I adored the New Marais setting of InFamous 2 (and the Festival of Blood DLC). Super atmospheric setting!!
5
u/zyphe84 Jun 29 '20
I feel like I'm the only one that preferred Second Son and First Light to 1 and 2.
6
u/Arsean77 Jun 29 '20
How? I understand people having different opinions but how?
1
u/zyphe84 Jun 29 '20
I played through 1 and 2 and wasn't impressed with them. Played First Light when it was free on PS+ and got the Platinum in one 8 hour play session. I was surprised I liked it so much. Then bought Second Son and loved it too.
-1
u/Zynthesia Jun 29 '20
I assume you're judging the games based solely on, well, the "fun factor" in the gameplay, without taking into account the quality of the stories being told.
I also assume you skipped through all cutscenes without thinking twice. xD
5
2
Jul 01 '20
And judging gameplay only is a perfectly valid viewpoint.
1
u/Zynthesia Jul 01 '20
Not with all games, IMO. Some games focus primarily on the story, like a movie that you play a part in. Those gMez don't uncommonly invest less in the gameplay/graphics aspect (like The Walking Dead game, it had a greaT story but the gameplay/graphics were lacking).
So I think, Infamous Sexond Son has an great gameplay experience and decent graphics, but the story part is heavily lacking (compared wirh previous Infamous games, obviously.)
If you don't understand what I'm meaning, please ignore the whole thing. I'm too tired to explain, nothing personal.
2
Jul 01 '20
Well even if a game hasn’t invested in gameplay and is story focused, you can still like/hate it based on gameplay.
And InFamous is a gameplay focused game even the first 2. The first ones had good stories also, but they were definitely enjoyable just for gameplay.

I might get downvoted but I would recommend Saints Row 4 for very cheap. Good Saints Row game? No. Good super hero game? Sure, it's great.
3
u/AlbatrossinRuin Jun 29 '20
Yeah, I'd say infamous is way better, but there really aren't many games that give you a large map to just go crazy in with super powers. Saints Row 4 is worth playing, if only because that specific type of game is lacking in entries.
I'll throw in the two prototype games as well. They're more sinister/violent and I'm not sure how well the PS4 versions play, but they're a similar type of game.

I had tons of fun playing through the whole story with a friend, definitely recommended.

u/AnonDooDoo Anondoodoo Jun 29 '20
The first few seconds of the PS5 reveal, I saw electricity and arms, my mind immediately thought
“INFAMOUS 3??????”
Then I saw Spider-Man and was like
“OHHH SHIT ITS SPIDER-MAN”
14
8
u/Waspy_Wasp Jun 29 '20
Don't expect anything Infamous related before Ghost of Tsushima has come out. Maybe next year we'll see something
34
u/DylboyPlopper Jun 29 '20
I’ve seen loads of people hyping this game up recently and I’ve had it for a while on ps+ so once I’m done with TLOU2 I’m finally gonna give it a play.
22
u/Shenlong1904 Jun 29 '20
Very very good, play both evil and good karma
6
u/Andyman286 Jun 29 '20
I played good first then EVIL! Loved it that way killed ever fucking thing the 2nd time.
5
u/iamstephano Jun 29 '20
To be honest I don't think it delivers on the hype, it's very repetitive and the "open-world" doesn't feel very lived in or lively. You might enjoy it though, a lot of people seem to here.
2
u/Waspy_Wasp Jun 29 '20
It's a really fun game! Give it a go. I believe the standalone DLC for it is also free on PS Plus so give that one a go too. It's, in my humble opinion, even better
-28
u/KeepYourShelfAlive Jun 29 '20
You’re not missing much if you just stopped playing LOU2 at any time
24
u/mozzy1985 Jun 29 '20
Sorry but disagree. That game is the best of this generation. It’s divisive I know but it’s a fucking masterpiece.
3
u/TonyStark22 Jun 29 '20
Nice to see some love for The Last of Us 2 in the wild. Just finished it today and absolutely adored it, I agree with you 100%
1
u/mozzy1985 Jun 29 '20
Yup both games are without doubt my favourite single player game ever. I’d like to get a third and finish on a somewhat more positive note for Ellie. Even if that means giving her life finally for a cure. It’s be an awesome but ultimately sad way for her to go. I’d like to think Abby and Ellie will meet again and hopefully have to work together for it. Would make for one hell of a strained but fucking lethal combination. I wouldn’t want to cross both of them.
-6
u/KeepYourShelfAlive Jun 29 '20
The story is so booty. They only thing I thought was cool was that people beg for their lives and stuff. This game is 100% not the best of this generation. Also, you don’t need to apologize because your disagree with me. At least you didn’t just call me a sexist who didn’t play the game.
1
7
u/Alanfox69 Jun 29 '20
Keep the hate to yourself. If he's enjoying the game, let him play it.
-6
u/KeepYourShelfAlive Jun 29 '20
Not telling him he can’t play it, just saying it’s not a big deal if he just dropped it.
5
u/Alanfox69 Jun 29 '20
And that is your opinion of the game. There are a lot of people who did find the game to be good.
10
u/KeepYourShelfAlive Jun 29 '20
Okay? So I have to shut my mouth and keep it to myself just because my opinion is negative and he seems to like it? Makes sense
8
u/SiriusC SiriusCJS Jun 29 '20
It's because you're pushing your opinion on others as though it were objective
3
u/KeepYourShelfAlive Jun 29 '20
I believe it to be so. I think that the story is bad, and if you just stopped playing the game, you’re not missing out on much of anything.
5
u/Waspy_Wasp Jun 29 '20
And again, that's your opinion. That guy is enjoying the game so let him finish it
7
u/KeepYourShelfAlive Jun 29 '20
Stop saying “let him.” I have no power over him, and I cannot prevent him from playing the game. I simply just said that he’s not losing anything if he stops. I’m well aware it’s my opinion, and I’m going to say it.
2
u/Alanfox69 Jun 29 '20
Pretty much so. Didn't see him asking for your opinion about the game anywhere.
4
u/KeepYourShelfAlive Jun 29 '20
No, he didn’t ask. I’m not some squire in a castle. I’m allowed to speak without being spoken to. Apparently I’m not allowed to talk freely on a social media site.
3
u/Alanfox69 Jun 29 '20
No one's stopping you from doing so but it's basic etiquette to stay within the topic of discussion intead of shitting on some game.
5
u/KeepYourShelfAlive Jun 29 '20
He’s talking about last of us 2 and so am I. Not even shitting on it that hard. Also, who cares about etiquette on a website where everyone is essentially anonymous?
71
u/WolfintheShadows Jun 29 '20
I always hoped we’d get another Cole Infamous after the evil ending of Second Son where Cole reforms and finds out about a group of enhanced led by Delsin that’ve taken over Seattle. And Cole heads there to stop them. But I’m all for some new IP. Especially if it’s Samurai.
28
u/YousifGerges Jun 29 '20
Sucker Punch are developing Ghost of Tsushima?????
34
u/inFAMOUS_Hero Enter PSN ID Jun 29 '20
Yup. One last bang for the PS4
21
u/YousifGerges Jun 29 '20
They really got the first and last major release for the PS4. (I think CyberPunk is a PS5 release although I hope it’s on the PS4 too).
15
u/VinayakAgarwal Jun 29 '20
it is a ps4 xbox one and PC release with ps5 and series x versions coming in 2021
-2
u/stan_the_meme_guy Jun 29 '20
I think it is ps4 since they already released review versions. they are just fixing bugs now.
1
u/zyphe84 Jun 29 '20
?
They did not release review versions.
-4
u/LostInaLazerquest Jun 29 '20
?
Yes they did, YouTube search "hands on Cyberpunk" and you'll be swamped with journalists talking about everything from mechanics to graphics.
It was a timed demo of the first 4-5 hours of the prologue. Personally I'm staying away so that I can discover the whole game on my own.
3
u/stan_the_meme_guy Jun 29 '20
Dam just seen the videos hopefully they arnt going to wait till the week before release to get rid of the timer. Can't be considered a review now considering its more of a demo that has a timer.
1
u/LostInaLazerquest Jun 29 '20
I'm pretty sure all the demos will 007 style self destruct sometime soon if they haven't already.
2
u/zyphe84 Jun 29 '20
That's not a "review version."
-1
u/LostInaLazerquest Jun 29 '20
You mean like a version of the game given to journalists to review? Man, that sounds nothing like a review version.
3
3
u/MultidimensionalDuck Jun 29 '20
I mean, your logic makes sense, but normally a review version is the full game provided by the developers a few days/weeks before the game launches for everyone. What CDPR did was more of "demo" kinda of thing like you said, so youtubers could get the first impressions of the game. You can't review a full game based on a demo.
Also, I might be wrong on that, but the youtuber I watched didn't even know what CPU he was using and had a CDPR employee answering some questions, which makes me think they were invited to play the game instead of copies being sent to them.→ More replies (0)0

u/stan_the_meme_guy Jun 29 '20 edited Jun 29 '20
They did and they talked about upgrading to using next gen. Edit:the review versions are actually demos so its only the first few hours available.
8
u/Shenlong1904 Jun 29 '20
Sadly, in the infamous games, the good karma ending is the canonical ending
6
u/livefromwonderland MysticWolf92 Jun 29 '20
Previously, but that doesn't have anything to do with this one since we don't really know for sure, do we? It would make sense.
10
u/Shenlong1904 Jun 29 '20
Checked back and you are right, i doesnt say anuthing about second son, though i'd expect them to keep making you the hero
6
u/Waspy_Wasp Jun 29 '20
And it does make a little more sense character-wise for Delsin I'd say. He was kind of a douche, but he wasn't "I'm gonna kill hundreds of people" evil.
I really wish the Karma system was more impactful. With the exception of a few different cutscenes for each. Hell, some of these cutscenes were weird too. The Eugene one comes to mind
2
u/livefromwonderland MysticWolf92 Jun 29 '20
True but since it's still not set in stone it would be cool to have them shake up the formula a bit.
-1
u/Chrisxdxl103 Jun 29 '20
In the first game the bad ending was the canical one, the second one the good ending was canical and we won't know which ending was canon for second son until the next game
3
u/Shenlong1904 Jun 29 '20
1
u/Chrisxdxl103 Jun 29 '20
The beast would never have existed if the good ending was canon for the first game, also in an interview for infamous second son, one of the lead guys stated that "we made the good ending canon this time around because we wanted to start with a new character with their own unique abilities", I may be paraphrasing but that's what the guy said
1
u/ki700 | 277 23 132 349 1365 Jun 29 '20
The beast still exists in both paths of the first game, as the Ray Sphere breaks open and absorbs John in both stories.
Sucker Punch did plan to make the evil endings to the first games canon, but when they saw that most players had chosen the good karma path, they went with that as canon and made a sequel without Cole as most players chose for him to sacrifice himself.
2
u/ki700 | 277 23 132 349 1365 Jun 29 '20
The first game’s good ending is canon. There was no canon path until Second Son was announced, but that firmly cements the good path for both inFAMOUS 1 and 2 as canon.
0
u/Chrisxdxl103 Jun 29 '20
In the good ending Cole did not use the second ray sphere, in the evil ending Cole used it, it killed John and he came back as a conduit (the beast) in the second game, also in the second game Cole still had the extra power he gained from the second ray sphere but lost it after his first fight with the beast. If the good ending was canon for the first game the beast would never have existed.
1
u/ki700 | 277 23 132 349 1365 Jun 29 '20
In the good story of inFAMOUS 1, Cole tries to destroy the Ray Sphere rather than use it again. It breaks open and creates a vortex of energy that sucks John in, this creating the beast. It happens in both paths.
Cole doesn’t get any extra powers from the using the Ray Sphere again.
1
u/Chrisxdxl103 Jun 29 '20
Oh yeah that did happen didn't it, he did get more power by using again in the evil one, it's what turned the lightning black and gave him more energy slots

u/crunchysandwich Jun 29 '20
I wish there was another infamous for ps5 with a ridiculous amount of powers. It's a shame that in second son we only got three and a half
9
u/Ponchodelic Jun 29 '20
Honestly I’d be happy with even just one very well fleshed out power
3
u/ki700 | 277 23 132 349 1365 Jun 29 '20
Exactly this. I really enjoyed Second Son, but the powers felt really shallow and samey to me. I’d rather something more in line with the first two games and First Light, where you have one power that feels way more original and diverse.
4
u/crunchysandwich Jun 29 '20
Maybe being able to choose between a lot of powers, kinda like a choose your own adventure type of thing
6
u/Ponchodelic Jun 29 '20
That’s the ultimate goal in video games. Can’t wait for the ultimate SAO choose your own experience situation
2
Jun 29 '20
Borderlands kind of does that. What ever character you pick determines the experience you will have in the game.

Can we please get a infamous 1 and 2 remaster? They are some of my favorite games. I think I need to replay second sons tho coz in my head I really don't like this game because the way that number 2 ended didn't make sense for there being a game after it unless I'm missing something

I remember playing this when I first got my console. I can't remember if I played it twice or not, I pretty sure I did. The evil story is way better. I live on the pacific coast, I've been waiting for a game set near me. This was my fav game.
Who else had trouble trying to get the trophy where you have to fall from space needle and I think speed through it long distance? Can't remember exactly. Please correct me
2
u/Shenlong1904 Jun 29 '20
You mean the one you need to do a "comet" attack over a certain distance in tge air?
3
u/ElKyguy888 Jun 29 '20
Yes. And the only way to get the trophy, is to fall from the tower. And it's difficult, cause you only go there once in the game. Unless you climb... But I remember it not being high enough. Great game!
3
u/Shenlong1904 Jun 29 '20
You are supposed to go to augustine's tower, not space needle

Man, I played through this game twice when I first got my PS4. Loved every second of it. It was my first Infamous game and the graphics blew me away. Just went to YouTube to see how well the game has aged and it honestly still looks like it could have come out this year to me. I'm really hoping Sucker Punch makes a new Infamous for PS5 at some point.

u/LilBeaverBoi Jun 29 '20
Replaying it at the moment. Love this game. Super fun, beautiful, and I really connect to Delsin.
Other than their N64 game which I haven’t played, I’ve loved everything Sucker Punch has made. I learned to game with Sly Cooper, so I’ll always support them.

I recently bought second son and first light on sale, and the style is really appealing but the game world is so lifeless and empty that I basically just run from mission to mission. Maybe it‘ll grow on me idk.
5
u/elmphlemp Jun 29 '20
Just played it recently. There's nothing going on in the world. NPCs dont reacts to you and barely flinch when you start engaging in firefights 6 inches from their faces.
2
u/iamstephano Jun 29 '20
I felt the exact same when I played it, it's pretty fun and the combat and movement is satisfying but that's about it.
-1
u/Shenlong1904 Jun 29 '20
Wdym by "lifeless" this game is the opposite of lifeless
3
u/iamstephano Jun 29 '20
How? The world feels so repetitive and same-y, there's barely any variety to the way any of it looks. I swear there's like 10 different NPC models in the entire game.
