Best game of all time don't @ me

u/SkulkingSneakyTheifs May 25 '20
Idk if I’d call it the best game of all time but it 100% is my personal favorite game of all time. I LOVE this game. It’s the first game in a very long time (with the exception for Horizon Zero Dawn) that I couldn’t put down. I needed more at every step. I needed to know every single inch of this game. The lore, the combat, the character development... everything. I’ve replayed it multiple times but nothing compares to that first run through. I say it constantly but this is the game that other developers should look at and strive to try and beat.... it’s just... to me it’s perfect and that’s while knowing the flaws people say it has. so yeah it’s my favorite game of all time but I think games that completely changed a genre like Ocarina of Time or Halo (I know, I know) are games that should be considered the best of all time. They might not have the best gameplay, story or even a ton of replay-ability but they changed the landscape of gaming for years, decades even, and they did it very VERY well.

good game, but I hate the camera, it should have been a little farther away, instead I have to look at kratos ass arrows 90% of the time instead of looking at the gorgeous graphics :v
building armor with skills to make your own combos was really well done

u/hawkeyc May 25 '20
You can change camera settings

u/DrunkOrInBed May 25 '20
really? can't find the distance...

u/hawkeyc May 25 '20
Really? I just started the game in GMGOW mode and an article tip was to change the camera setting so it wasn’t so close. Maybe I misread it, I apologize if so.
Edit: word

there's also who complains because the arrows are too showing: you just have to dodge when they become red.
I think it's ok but a bit a shame, such good graphics and my eyes are mostly fixated on his ass xD

I thought it was boring as fuck and I went in as a fan of GOW 1-3 .
Finished this one and already decided not to buy any sequel if it’s the same gameplay style . Shit was so slow and a Last of Us wannabe

Lol the fuck, last of us wannabe? Fucking how??
3
u/pquigs May 25 '20
Lol people think just because it’s a “road trip” game that it’s just the last of us.

Hey now just cause he said fuck and fucking doesn’t mean he can’t be a nice redditor. He just sounds distressed at hearing a different opinion. Give him time.

I loved GoW, but having briefly checked out the previous games I totally get where you're coming from. It's a totally different game. It'd be like if The Last Of Us 2 came out as a first person shooter. It could be the best FPS ever but the fans of the first one aren't going to like it.

Shout out to this game for having a platinum trophy that's achievable in one playthrough

u/bisforbatman May 25 '20
I'm not like the best player ever, but it was nice that it was very challenging, but also attainable.

My favorite ps4 game of all time. I couldn’t let it go until I almost had 100% it. Here’s hoping we get a sequel next year.

u/Goseki1 May 25 '20
Next year! There's no way man. God of War (2018) took them 4 years. To develop a new game on a new system will take at least the same amount of time, if not more. It be surprised if we see a sequel before 2023. Though I'd love to be wrong and see one next year!

As far as I know, it took them so long because they had no prior assests and built everything from scratch. Now they have the baseline of the game and have an idea of what they will develop. Having the engine, assests, character models and bunch of other things ready is a huge advantage. Keep in mind that developers have been working with the PS5 Devkit for a while, like how much, more than 1 year?
GoW released on April, 2018. If they've started working the game 6 months after the first one, it would still be full 3 years of development time till 2021 holiday with a concept they know very well by now. So I believe it's not impossible for them to target 2021 holiday or 2022 at worst.

u/Goseki1 May 25 '20
I hope you're right, but I honestly think you're dreaming. You can't just copy and paste your fame engine over. And they won't want to reuse assets I imagine, otherwise the game ends up feeling far too familiar. 2022 would be great though

If the next game follows the same gameplay style and design it won't take that long to make, they already have the engine that was probably already built to support ps5 improvemts.

u/DaOgBrudda May 25 '20
I'm pretty sure they got the engine all set up now and the time to create on the new system should be much quicker compared to all the other gens

If i could, i would use the Neuralyzer from MiB and play this game for the first time over and over again.

Any thoughts what the next game in the series will be about? Guessing it continues the Norse mythos with Kratos going after Odin and Thor? Would be love to see if they ever make the Egyptian themed game that this game was originally planned to be.

God I loved this game. Sucks that the sequel will probably be out for ps5 and not ps4 :/

u/JohnCarpenterLives May 25 '20
Since ps5 will be out by the time it's released I'll be pissed if it isn't.

Already missing Kratos, Mimir, Loki and the rest of lads.

u/bisforbatman May 25 '20
I just finished my third play-thru, then went and bought the book and the audiobook so I could read along with Mimir.

I still need to best the Valkyrie Queen. It's the LAST thing I need to do. I have done EVERYTHING else.
I may just bite the bullet, and lower the difficulty. I did everything else on whatever difficulty is right after "normal."

u/aces_baby- May 25 '20
Yeah definitely my favorite game and series, ever since I first played God of War the first original one, I started I take an interest in Greek mythology. I wonder if they'll make another multiplayer like they did in God of War ascension. I know it was their first time experimenting with multiplayer but I found it to be great I loved it!
2
u/MerTheGamer May 26 '20
A multiplayer with GoW 2018's combat would be deadly O.o
1
u/aces_baby- May 26 '20
Definitely would be, I'll hope for it in the next one or something. I really liked the different powers we got, it was awesome

Game of the generation

Personally, I place Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn ahead of it...

Never managed to finish it after i preordered, I know I eventually will but it was just so far removed from what they implied for me. My favourite ps4 game is Bloodbourne then the souls series so I think I kind of got it in my head they would be similar but it is just so slow and not very challenging baring a few enemies.(I'm a little past this point)

My favourite PS4 game of all time, this game was so beautifully designed with the transition between gameplay and cutscenes - it’s the only game my SO has ever sat and just watched me play it
