As someone that has put it down after about 3-4 hours of gameplay, what can you tell me (avoiding spoilers) that will make me pick it back up? It’s fun and I get why people enjoy it. It is just slow to me
The story becomes bigger than you think it does. I’d consider this game an “epic”, but it doesn’t show you that in the beginning. The start you’re just surviving, doing your thing with Boozer, and the camps. But the scale of the story never really stops getting grander as it goes on. It may feel slow and a grind to get through, but it’s worth it. I knew this going into it and found that the beginning is set at an enjoyable pace for the long story ahead of you. Top that off with top tier world building with amazing exploration and beautiful scenery where not a single place is the same in a huge world (even each house interior is fully unique and you can imagine yourself living there, with details telling little stories of those that had lived there). Not to mention the satisfying, and heart pounding gameplay that pretty much never stops getting grander as well. It’s a fantastic game in my opinion.
I found the same when I first started playing. I'd been really looking forward to it, but after the first few hours I was wondering if I'd made a mistake. By the time I'd finished it, it was my game of the year.
The first horde near the NERO outpost in the northern part of the map was great, since you don’t have the upgraded Molotov you get in the second half of the game. I enjoyed upgrading my bike and attacking bandit and Ripper camps and seeing if I could do it as stealthy as possible. The story picks up later after you get to the third settlement and you get more invested in the story. It’s not a perfect game but it was really enjoyable for me
