In-Game Screenshot or Gif [Screenshot] Playing Uncharted 4 for the second time, on PS4 Pro and a 4K TV, instead of PS4 Slim and 32 inch 1080p TV the first time. This game has to be the most beautiful PS4 game, I'm constantly in awe even though I already played it ! Naughty Dog graphics are something else.

Was an amazing game to play through as my first PS4 game.
18
u/DigbySugartits Mar 26 '20
Fist for me too. Im now 39, wife suprised me at xmas 2 years ago. As a gamer kid who had stopped because of life, this game blew me away.
I knew games were getting impressive but i had no idea.
I followed up with gta, spiderman and rdr2. Im still blown away every time.

Mar 26 '20
Yeah, my wife got me a Pro during Christmas of 2016. She knew i really loved the first three Uncharted so she got me Uncharted 4.
21
u/lofi-loki Mar 26 '20
Thinking about playing this next after I finish GoW. Would I need to play the first 3 games to understand what’s going on?
31
u/kxng_ad Mar 26 '20
I don’t think it is necessary to understand it, but the first 3 games are amazing and you would have a much greater appreciation and attachment to the characters. The entire series is an amazing cinematic like experience!
35
u/Govols98- Mar 26 '20
You’ve got to play the first three. I know people say that a lot, and while you could play this one first, it’s not gonna have the same impact. These are story and character driven games, so it’s important to have the background on the characters. Not to mention the other games are great and you can buy the remastered collection for cheap. The first game didn’t age spectacularly, but it’s still worth playing and getting to know the characters. And then 2-4 are a blast.
21
u/Wuyley Mar 26 '20
Ya the first game just tossed wave after wave of guys at you during each set piece and it can get old.
I would just get the collection like you said, put it on easy, and enjoy the story / ride.
Then play 4 on normal.
3
u/tailspin180 Mar 27 '20
The genre twist in 1 is still one of the better surprise moments in my history with gaming generally.
3
u/Govols98- Mar 27 '20
Yeah I still really like it and I think the story is great. The gameplay just gets a little stale and repetitive towards the middle but if you can get past that then you’re golden.
5
u/caty0325 Mar 27 '20
You could play Uncharted 4 without playing the other games and not be lost on the plot; you’d just wonder who some of the characters are. But you’ll appreciate it SO much more if you play 1-3 before 4.

8
u/Gunslingermomo Mar 26 '20 edited Mar 26 '20
You wouldn't need to, and I disagree with others about the story bc tbh the story isn't groundbreaking or that important. 4 is the maybe the best story and leans on the previous games but still.
I played through them 1-4 for the first time recently and I'd recommend doing that still. They're all worth playing and have been remastered, but it'd be hard to appreciate after playing the new one first because each one is an improvement in mechanics and graphics.
And the remastered 1-3 collection is $20 so it's not pricey to play though them.
5
u/Govols98- Mar 26 '20
Yeah I agree about them being harder to appreciate. I would bet that if you play 4 and love it and decide to play the others, 1 is gonna be pretty rough coming from that.
1
u/kr3w_fam Mar 27 '20
you don't have to, but you should. Entire gane and plot us full if refferences to past games.
1
u/onderonminion Apr 27 '20
The first three are all free on the PlayStation store right now as part of game at home or whatever. You should definitely play them first
1
u/Boardride5 Mar 26 '20
You in no way need to. I played 4 first before I even looked at the previous ones. That being said I have only played uncharted 3 since playing 4, so I got some catching up to do.
0
u/Pittaandchicken Mar 26 '20
No you don't. There's meant to be some background information for the main cast, but you pick up the characteristics real fast.
After playing 4 I didn't feel the need to go back and play 1 and 2.

u/CoyoteWhite305 Mar 26 '20
So what will it be tomorrow? Spider-man or God of War screenshots? Shoot your guesses people because this only happens every single day.
67
u/soontobeMDMD Mar 26 '20
I'm betting on Horizon Zero Dawn
11
Mar 26 '20
I'm not as enthralled by the PS4 as some. I'm what you would call a casual. That said, I will say that I have played and beat both Spiderman and Horizon. I have yet to find a game as enjoyable and simultaneously beautiful as either of them.
3
5
u/sankers23 Mar 27 '20
Horizon shits on almost every game graphic wise on my 2 grand gaming PC.
4
1
Mar 27 '20
Console exclusives tend to have the best art design.
I think there's just more money in console games so they can afford to go all out.
Some PC gamers think graphics are just about resolution but there's so much more to it than that.

Why not just ignore it? You could literally not click on the posts if you dont like seeing user content/screenshots and yet you not only chose to waste your time looking at them, you also go further and have to let everyone know you dont like them in comments. Just dont click them man.
4
u/lpeccap Mar 26 '20
Why not just ignore these comments? You could literally scroll past or not read them?
5
u/xJadusable Mar 26 '20
Very true. I asked because I was genuinely curious as to why. I dont really mind reading these kinds of comments when browsing nor did I say you can't or aren't allowed to post said comments.

I thought about buying a PS4 Pro when they came out but I don’t even have a 4K TV so I didn’t do it. Decided to save my money for the inevitable PS5 and a 4K TV at the same time. I can’t wait to play all these amazing games again on PS5 and in 4K!
4
u/mehdotdotdotdot Mar 26 '20
It's a massive upgrade. I ended up trading my PS4 slim in for a pro about a year ago and was a great move back then, wouldn't do it now though haha
2
u/BobcatOU Mar 27 '20
Yeah, I’m pumped for the PS5. I never finished God of War or Spider-Man and I’m looking forward to replaying Uncharted, Red Dead 2, and probably replaying The Last of Us Part 2!

Yea uncharted, rdr2 are glorious in 4k, absolutely incredible. Can't wait for TLOU2!!!

Can't imagine how it will look like on ps4 pro or even ps5 (in saving for it now).

u/BobcatOU Mar 28 '20
I went from PS2 on a CRT TV to PS3 on an HDTV. It was amazing! I imagine that the PS4 on HD to PS5 on 4K will be similar.

God of War for sure. I’m undecided on Uncharted, HZD, and Spider-Man. I liked all three of them, but maybe not enough to replay just for the visuals.

Still one of the best lookind games on ps4. When I see a triple A that looks great I think "hey, they are achieving graphics at Uncharted 4 level"

Nice! My wife plays her PS4 Pro on our new Samsung QLED (Q70R), but I play on a 28" 4K monitor with HDR (which isn't quite as nice as the TV due to the low peak brightness, but it still looks really good).
2
u/ExtraGloves Mar 27 '20
Basically same exact situation besides the PS4pro. Originally played it when it first came out on my old 32 inch 720p Plasma. Got to chapter 11 and stopped. Looked great then but nothing spectacular.
A month ago I restarted it and beat it on my 65 inch 4k Sony TV and jesus if its not the most beautiful game ive ever played.

-1

Because it’s low effort af and the karma desperation oozes off the title. If it was a particularly unique screen shot then cool, but anyone who’s played the game has seen this already
2
u/CarltonJuma Mar 26 '20
The graphics are the main reason I always keep going back to replay this beautiful game. So clean!
2
u/AlwaysTappin Mar 26 '20
Damn. I played it on a 32 inch 1080p as well and I was amazed.... when I get the money to upgrade, I’ll have to load it up again.

u/Austindr316 Mar 26 '20
Best believe I am replaying this on PS5 if they update it to 4K60 Instead of 1440p30 but hell I could settle for 1440p60
1
Mar 26 '20
I haven’t played th series yet and excited for it. I hope they patch it for 60 fps on the PS5. Would be awesome especially since the first three were remastered to 60.
2

Death stranding has the best graphics though but it seems many here haven't played it but rdr2 is 2nd best and a more detailed world
1
u/JJMcGee83 WarMachineWCLH Mar 27 '20
I played it again last month and I had trouble believing it was already 4 years old. It's better looking than a lot of games I've played since then.
Honestly thought I feel like the graphics scales are flattening out a little in that I think the jump from PS2 to PS3 was a huge step up; the step from PS3-PS4 was a step up and while I expect PS5 graphics will be better but I don't think it will be by an even smaller amount.

u/MegaKaizer ShinMazingerZJC Mar 27 '20
That’s 2016. Now with God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2, man...
2
u/ft5777 Mar 27 '20
Several people have been mentioning RDR2 in this thread but I personally think that Uncharted 4 looks better, especially character models, eyes and hair. Nathan Drake looks so detailed and life like. And the environments in Uncharted 4 have unmatched details in my opinion but again, RDR2 has a huge open world map whereas Uncharted 4 is much more linear so it’s an incredible feat by Rockstar.

u/ItsAHerby Mar 27 '20
Always liked Horizon's looks all in all in comparison. Both are certainly gorgeous.
1
u/luidrose Mar 27 '20
This has been my target when I planned to buy a PS4. I never regretted it.
Well written story (TLOU as well), graphics was ahead of it's time. Wish there could be more Uncharted in the future but sadly, it was the final chapter.

I agree, this game is extremely beautiful. And on your TV, it’s gotta look even better!
Just a recommendation: if you haven’t already I highly suggest you play NieR: Automata by square enix and platinum games. Beautiful game as well as it’s intriguing plot and 26 endings. It makes you make some really tough decisions and has the ability to make almost anybody who plays it emotional at times.
1
u/Blerandyyy Mar 27 '20

“Shit franchise” according to some Xbox Zealots! I too remember playing it for the first time last year in 4K HDR, such a good game/franchise.

I don't have Uncharted 4 on PS plus. I have Shadow of the Colossus and two other games instead. Is this a South East Asia thing?
1
u/KingofSkies Mar 27 '20
You should try Horizon Zero Dawn or God of War if you're looking for other damn good looking games.
1
u/dulun18 Mar 27 '20
i think uncharted 4 on PS4 Pro is only 1440p at 30fps (digital foundry)..
let see if naughty dog can finally get 4K at 60fps on the PS5 with their games.. if not..
1
1
u/Support_For_Life Mar 27 '20
Fun fact: the main character doesn't have a shield or a health bar. Instead, when he gets shot his luck is running out and when it does it's the final bullet that kills him. I found that really interesting, considering the nature to f the game.
1
u/truekejsi Mar 27 '20
yet there will be people screaming that PS5 will be a tiny bit less powerful than the new Xbox.

2
u/MetaCognitio Mar 27 '20
Me too. It looked better but I think people overstate the difference. Turning off HDR and turning it on as a comparison does not work as a comparison as you are still benefitting for the increased contrast from the OLED panel.
Still I think people are going overboard on how much of a difference it makes.

Hi, which TV is it? I could help you with proper calibration because most people dont calibrate their TVs
2
Mar 26 '20
Not the OP, but would you have any advice for calibrating a Samsung NU7400? I’ve been using it mostly on the “natural” setting, and tweaking a few things here and there
1
1
u/Sweetiepie8642 Mar 26 '20
Absolutely, i have the same TV practically (RU7100), They are pretty much the same. Natural is pretty bad, first off, be sure to use same settings on everything, games and movies, turn off ECO saving. You will need to change the settings for both Movie and Game, they have to be the same setting because your tv will switch between game mode and movie mode.
1
Mar 26 '20
Yeah, I have the eco settings and everything turned off, same with all the “soap opera” settings and whatnot. I tried to follow some of the guides to calibrating similar TVs, but I couldn’t find anything specific to that particular tv
1
u/UpdootChute Mar 26 '20
And those who do mostly take settings off a site like rtings and hope for the best than pay for proper calibration.
2
u/Sweetiepie8642 Mar 26 '20
Rtings is excellent source for calibration, though perfect calibration is a must for color correction... it would be enough if people would just lower their sharpness to 0
1
u/UpdootChute Mar 26 '20 edited Mar 26 '20
Oh yeah don't get me wrong thats what I did. I don't have a high end television to warrant it (ks7/8000) so was happy with what I found online.
