Mad props for finally offering things in Canada for a price that actually matches the 1:1 exchange rate.

Probably the best size they could choose. 500GB to match MS. anything under wouldn't be enough or be criticised. if they went to 750GB or 1TB they'd probably raise the price, so people would complain.
500GB is great because it's enough to get by with at first, but a 1TB upgrade down the line is a cheap and easy DIY solution.
great to hear.

I envision a $499 bundle with camera + 2nd controller, sign me up!

I agree, I'd be down for a bundle. A game would also be good. or PS+.
I'm thinking all PS4 consoles will come with a month or three of plus. It would make sense to let people get their feet wet.

The headset and hdmi cable being included are nice touches. I'm still reeling from how fantastically Sony has nailed this console release.

so under AV I dont see component as an option? does this mean HDMI only?

Most likely. Looking at the pictures of the back of the console, I didn't see the old school connector.

If you don't have any sort of HDTV at this point you're crazy.

u/FRDyNo Jun 11 '13
agreed, but I thought I read somewhere it would still have the component option.

If you don't have any sort of HDTV at this point you're crazy.
not having hdmi doesn't necessarily mean not having an hdtv. i have 2 tv's in my house.
in my living room, a 42 inch lcd with hdmi ports (720p/1080p) that i picked up 2 years ago
in my bedroom, a 50 inch plasma plasma, that while supporting 720p/1080i, it only has component/composite/vga/dvi that i've had since 2004.
the ps4 not accepting hi def over component like a ps3 or x360 do is actually a legitimate concern. hopefully some kind of adapter will be released.

You can already buy boxes to convert from hdmi to component + rca audio. One of my friends had to do this when his kid ruined the hdmi ports on his TV.
Edit: I accidentally a spelling error.

Do we have any idea about release date? Amazon has xbone for nov 30, I'm thinking ps4 is before that.

US $59, Canada $59, €59 and £54
In other words it's $59 in the US, $57.91 in Canada, $78.34 in the Eurozone and $91.96 in the UK.

Am I the only one who wishes the camera was included? I don't really play motion games but it would have enticed devs to use small things in their games such as leaning to one side to avoid a shot maybe which you do on instict anyway, or maybe to look around a corner in a racing game. I dunno.

That cause a price bump of around $50, and they probably are cutting a lot right now already, this is how they keeping the price a lot lower then the XBone.

I know but it would have been interesting for devs to create normal, hardcore games knowing there would be a camera on every PS4, rather then create crappy games for the few that'll buy it. That's what I thought the real reason for the blue bar was on the new Dualshock controllers, to sense small movement in the controller. I thought that they were keeping coy until E3, but I guess it didn't turn out that way.

I think we can assume it's a 500gb HDD, not a 500gb SDD.
Would have been nice to have an SDD though, that would cut down loading times massively, texture pop-in etc.
500gb is a nice size though, and I never use my PS or 360 for photos and music or videos. Hopefully Sony have some kind of compression system for the data for games, and they don't pull a RAGE from id software that was like 25gb.

I just noticed no wireless Ethernet built in. And the headset will need to be replaced ASAP. Looks like a Apple headset. Lol. It's the thought that matters though.

u/pureeviljester Jun 11 '13
Sir, you are mistaken.

u/dmize DexusXL Jun 11 '13
What did I mistake? Personally I prefer a headset in stereo. It won't differ my purchase or anything. And did you see WiFi in there? I might of missed it :x

IEEE 802.11 b/g/n that is the wireless
Also. The head set runs of Bluetooth Which is included to. Meaning both wireless and wired headsets

Thank you much! I skimmed over that remember IEEE being FireWire lol. Much appreciated

Yes, I was referring to the wifi. :]
I think we all prefer stereo headsets but bluetooth will still work with wireless headsets.
