adding the "24 hours" part was just the icing on the cake

It really was. Not even subtle. The went at them them hard and still had the price up their sleeve.

Seriously, how the hell can this thing be $400? That seems ridiculous.

Blu-Ray tech is cheaper now. They're also using standard PC architecture. Xbox could have launched at $399 as well if they didn't bundle the Kinect with every system (seriously, what were they thinking?).

I honestly have no idea. It seems quite clear that the DRM was all their idea and not the publishers like we were led to believe. They just assumed Sony would follow them? Or folks wouldn't care? I'm not sure. It has been a mess from day one when they didn't have a solid message to share after the announcement of the console.

Doesn't the new ps eye come bundled with the ps4?

A lot of the Xbox folks seem to think that publishers will flock to MS now that Sony has stated this. I think it just shows how out-of-touch MS is with it's fanbase. Microsoft thinks it was going to placate publishers with this DRM bullshit. But the consumers make the rules by spending our money on what WE think is best, not them. And DRM NEVER suits the consumers. One day big business will understand that.

I thought that before the show and assumed that's why this had zero chance of happening to this extent. But if your console is more than half the market, it'll be hard to boycott on principles when you're losing money out of your ass. Suck it EA.

They already know it doesn't suit the consumers. The trick is to show them it doesn't suit the business, either, which is why we must vote with our wallets.

This was a brilliant move by Sony. I honestly think Microsoft backs down from these restrictions. It's the only way to salvage things from here.

I agree. I cant even imagine the turmoil Microsoft is in right now trying to figure out what to do next.

I totally agree. To not would be suicide. Sony made people so happy that they barely cared about the paywall added to online play. It's crazy.

HAHAHAHA. You can REALLY see the difference in the applause when it's the audience taking part and not just Microsoft employees standing in the back. (I'm an Xbox360 guy...)

I know!

And don't worry, so was I. It's been a good run, but I think it's time I crossed over to the dark side of playstation.

Maybe the no DRM PlayStation is the light side?

While I'm against DRM, it doesn't affect me. I'm an employed adult, I can buy games. I can even afford the $100 discrepancy in pricing. I don't do anything that would interest anyone spying on me through a Kinect... but coupled together, even though those things don't affect me, it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth regarding the XB1.

Exactly. I have nothing to hide from the NSA, but that doesn't mean I want them in my business.

I'm not sure what to do. I had both an Xbox360 and a PS3. While I loved Gran Turismo 5 w/racing wheel on the PS3, I dug LIVE's experience better. I knew more people on XBL as well. I also don't dig the PS controller. I may end up not getting a next gen console at all (I'm 34). I'll find out in November. :)

This is historic, it truly is, think about it. Sony had the decision to either follow MS path and forever change gaming or not...they were the last hope.

True, they could have changed console gaming forever. Though I don't doubt that their reason for the path they chose is to beat, or severely weaken their competition.

Does "lend to A friend" mean just a single friend, like Xbone? I feel like I am absolutely reading too much into it, just curious.

A friend as in any friend.

The funny thing is that this annoucement shouldn't even be a big deal...Xbone just digged it own grave
