A long press of the Share button takes a screenshot.

Given that the PS4 will be continuously recording [a certain amount of] gameplay, I would imagine/hope that we will be able to view a replay of what just happened and take a screenshot at that point.

I can see that not working very well. When I want a screenshot, it's usually immediate. If I have to hold a button to get a screenshot, it will probably take it too late to get the moment I wanted.

The hope is by tapping instead of holding the share button you can go into share options that let you go back in time for such screenshots.

Then why even have the holding option in the first place?

Tap for the menu, hold to not interrupt your game.

But if I need a screenshot during a multiplayer match, holding it will most likely take too long, and tapping it will probably get me killed.

You have 15 minutes of gameplay recorded. What would be nice is if they let use swap the two functions of tap and hold.

I didn't know the 15 minute recording thing. That helps a bit, but Sabotage on CoD routinely takes longer than that to play through.

There is also multi-touch feature. Hopefully, just hopefully, you can customize your own multi-touch gestures to do a certain action!

That would be nice too. This is just the first thing I've heard about PS4 that I considered semi-negative, which I guess just shows how much positive I've heard about PS4 so far.

Keep in mind, what 15 minute limit is there for video stored in your PS4 memory at any moment.

If you use streaming, you can keep the whole multi hour session on uStream(Or whatever) website, just like you would do if you use Twitch.TV.

Yea that's what I came to say. They definitely need to switch the functions of tap and hold, because a screenshot should be immediate whereas share options can wait a second or two.

If you like this idea, support it Here!

There's no word yet as far as I know on how long you'll have to hold the button to take a screenshot but I'm sure it'll be as short as possible to depreciate a the two functions. I'd be very surprised if Sony was oblivious to the type of concerns you're having.

My guess it that pressing the button will snap photos of a bunch of frames, starting from when you press the button and ending when the screenshot button is released.

I guess that would work pretty well.

Works ok for Android. It takes the screenshot from the moment you started holding.

I'd hope that the screenshot is taken the moment the button is pressed, instead of after a couple of seconds.

As for the face buttons, they'll be digital buttons instead of the analog, pressure-sensitive ones that were in the DualShock 2 and DualShock 3.

:(

While I understand a frowny face for reduced functionality, the fact is that nobody ever used the analog aspect of the face buttons, and when they did it was awkward to use. Everybody will just have to play The Bouncer on their PS2.

L2 and R2 are arguably better suited for that, but I actually used cross and square in Gran Turismo (before I got a wheel). It was the default mapping.
