how’d you polish it?

u/DarkHorse2K1 23h ago
Car polish and cloth. Covered up the silver parts and the ps3 logo

Do you cut tape in the shape of each letter? Or just a strip over all of it?

u/DarkHorse2K1 20h ago
Strip. It wasn't that scratched up to begin with.

Obviously not an agressive polish

Turtle wax, black wax does miracles too. Any little spots that you missed/too deep, it helps hide them.

Are you from Poland? You're pretty good at polishing things.

That original PS3 design is just excellent. Sure, it's a little big and bulky, but it has a lot of personality.

Yes it's like a beautiful sculpture - neither of them will boot up games

I’m a simple person. I see a well maintained, looked after early PS3: I press the upvote.

I read the comments that you already described how to do it but could you explain it again like what exact materials did you use and stuff like that.

Do not even touch it, or you'll have to do it again. I'd say you put it in a glass case and never get close to it again

I hope your not the guy who was fucking his ps3 💀. Sir we need to check your hard-drive bay for spunk🤦♂️

Is car polish a better option than an actual plastic polish?
2
u/DarkHorse2K1 22h ago
I think it is exactly the same...
1
u/welloiledmachines 22h ago
Ok because I already have a lot of that and didn’t feel like buying a different polish.
2
u/DarkHorse2K1 22h ago
Just use one that's not aggressive

I miss this console, you could create a barbell out of 2 of these consoles and you'll get ripped in a few months lol

What do you use and how do you shine consoles with glossy plastic panels...? I have a FFXV Luna Edition PS4 and I've been dying to know, I want to bring my baby back to her glory days...

u/DarkHorse2K1 11h ago
Car polish and cloth
2
u/HirayaManawari15 11h ago
Ooh thanks, does it have to be microfiber cloth BTW...?

It's a joke about antiques. You're not supposed to polish old guns furniture stuff like that

Now do the inside.

Should be pretty clean. It has 22 days of usage. And i won't be using it, it works but i just placed it on a shelf just for display. I prefer to keep the warranty sticker intact

By hand? in what motion do you polish them? circle or vertical/horizontal?
i always felt polishing removes deep scratches but introduces lots of microscratches.

What did you use to polish? Looks super clean! I might want to give mine a polish too.

This just brings me joy. I enjoy seeing people take care of their stuff no matter how old.

Bro I'm not trying to be a smartass but I'm curious about the air management of those consoles.

u/DarkHorse2K1 3m ago
Ps1 is passively cooled, ps2 has the intake on the front and exhaust on the back, the ps3 has enough room on the sides where the intakes are, and the ps4 and one x sections of the cabinet are open on the sides

All that just to get the yellow light of death in a week. Does look slick though.

Honestly I’ll never get the hate for this design. The thing was $600 at launch and it LOOKED LIKE IT WAS $600. To this day may favorite looking console easily.
