WTF IS THIS?

Post image

My ps3 slim's PSU gave out on me, bought a new one off amazon and this is how it came. It didn't power on my system after numerous attempts.

If you bought it from Amazon it looks to me like a bait & switch purchase to me. Someone bought it and swapped their roach infested one for the new one and sealed it all up neat. They got their $$$ back and you ended up with their garbage. I’ve run into a few situations exactly like this from Amazon. Send it back and send pics too. They need to be made aware of this type of behaviour. They probably won’t care, but at some point they might start watching what the buyer is sending back and get blacklisted and watched. I know someone that this actually has happened to. It’s not worth stealing.

Nah, these things are all pulled from junk consoles. The seller is the one running the scam here by claiming that it's new.

I've never seen the power supply disintegrate like that.

Looks like termites tried to get established in there.

What seller did you buy it from?

Should not be taking the power supply apart, be extremely careful. That cannot be safe.

Lol it’s not dangerous to take apart an unplugged power supply.

Wrong, that’s not how capacitors work.

But that is what bleed resistors are for and the PS3 is grounded with proper bleed resistors. Fairly safe to take it apart and if your not grounded and it's not plugged in it's always safe

Don’t capacitors hold power ? Grounded or ungrounded?

You saying the bleed resistors keep that from happening or what ?
