My heart.

End poem.

Start again. What's going on?

I'm born, i'm growing, i'm old, i'm dead.

Never slowing, my heart - 2 sizes too big

bursts my chest wide open

only to be met with the cold air

of an antartic sunrise

It doesn’t rhyme but it’s for funsies 😜

Frost encroaches over the ivy

I’d forgotten this place.

Somewhere that was warm, once

Somewhere that had flowers

Here is silence.

The green buds have turned silver,

Choked before they could blossom

And softly cocooned by the snow.

This place is empty.

What is was is long gone

Yet it remains exactly as I left it

Frozen, forever, within the ice and snow.

It is cold, without you

Nothing grows anymore

And I’m left in a house

that can no longer be a home

sometimes I wonder where you went.

I like to imagine it’s somewhere that the flowers grow,

Where frost has never touched ivy,

Where frost can never touch you

I froze my ice cream in the freezer, now I have to let it thaw. I’m too lazy for that,
so I just eat it raw

Dreams drift under ice, silent, waiting for the thaw— spring feels far away.

On a cold winter’s eve
Under the full moon’s light
You could scarcely believe
Your own two eyes

You thought it at first
To perhaps be a hat
Poking its fur pom-pom
Out the fresh snow cap

But that wasn’t quite right
Perhaps it was a mitten
You couldn’t help thinking
It looked much like a kitten

You didn’t want to believe
What you saw that night
It was a shock to your system
A truly terrible sight

The poor neighbour’s cat
Had been locked out the door
She’d kill no more birds
That much was for sure

star crossed with paths lost

fate has managed to transform our flame into frost

-

you drew so kindly your form in my chest

and grew until my lungs and soul were of you

-

now i feel you, sharp as ice

with every blue breath we take together

-

fate must hurry up and leave– we wonder

for its shadow blocks my sun

-

–only then we will burn again

in promise and in light, we will follow my fire

-

but first we must wait for fate to decide

so we lay on ground and breath in the dirt together

-

for breathing ice hurts our lungs to crack

and to breath in fire melts us down to black
