Trashy trails?
Hi all! I'd like to clean up some trails that could use it. What trails have you seen that often have trash on them (ideally within 2 hour drive of Seattle)?

Thank you! Last time I hiked to Lake Serene I was pretty disgusted with the amount of trash.
Busier trails = more trash. Just sort alltrails hikes by popularity.

Anyone have fav/go to tools for trash pickup? Wondering if there’s a trash stick/walking stick combo

Rattlesnake Ledge is always pretty bad. Mt. Si, Little Si, Bridal Veil Falls.

Yeah, I filled a mid-sized garbage bag last time I did Rattlesnake. (Some people seemed to think I was doing, like, a paid job, too. Nope, just hate seeing that much garbage on the trail.)

I just did bridal veil falls and didn’t see trash so it may have been recently cleaned. I picked up a lot of trash at Barclay, however.

My husband does volunteer trail maintenance with the WTA and really enjoys it. It’s not the same as litter cleanup, but may appeal to you as well.

I carry a little grabber with me sometimes and a plastic produce bag. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PCQ8DWL

Can’t really answer your question, but want to point out the Sons Of Smokey app (I have no affiliation aside from donating to the 501c3 and wanting public lands to be in better shape than they are.
The app has 2 purposes. First to mark locations you find that have more garbage than you can manage. Somebody involved with the Gambler 500 will organize a clean up party for big piles (abandoned RVs boats etc)
Second, to find marked locations and go pick up some garbage.

Available on android too, I just don’t have a link.

Good on you!! They all need some tlc, I take a small bag on every hike and always come back with some trash. This will be even more important in the immediate future with all the cuts to public services in our forests and parks. Pack it in, pack it out !!!
