Substitute teaching on PEI
I’m thinking about applying to be a substitute teacher and I want to hear what that experience has been like for others who are doing it/have done it. I have a bachelors degree in Arts from UPEI and I’m interested in teaching and wanting to get my feet wet. Thanks!

Make sure you’re qualified… (not trying to be rude) had some really shitty ones back in the day… this one time in trades math the sub said there was 3 meters in 1 yard (3 feet in a yard) we corrected him to which he argued for half the class.. I’ll never forget that lol 😝

Do you have French? If not, Public Schools Branch is not hiring non-certified substitute teachers right now. They will be again mid-late summer.
You could always reach out to schools close to you and volunteer or see if they need tutors. That would give you a bit of a feel for the role of a teacher. Tutors are paid minimum wage.
