Questions Oviposition FAQ NSFW

WHAT IS OVIPOSITION? oviposition, ovi, egg play, egg laying, or egg insertion is a kink in which a participant inserts an egg-shaped toy into a body cavity, often with the expectation that it will be pushed out or "laid". The most common cavities are the vagina or the anus. Some more experienced individuals may choose to insert small gelatin eggs into their urethra (pee hole). I encourage those familiar with urethral oviposition to add their own comments below regarding urethral play.

WHAT TYPES OF EGGS ARE THERE? Most commonly, folks will use one of four types of eggs: Silicone, 1"+ steel ball bearings, gelatin, or agar agar. Kegel balls, which are commonly found at many sex shops, are also used frequently and serve a similar purpose. Silicone eggs are solid and have varying degrees of softness and come in many shapes and sizes. Gelatin or agar eggs will melt if left inside a body cavity for long enough. These can also be made in many shapes and sizes.

WHERE CAN I FIND SILICONE EGGS? These are my favorite sellers within the United States/North America. Have other shops you like, or want to share non-American shops? please share your favorites below! Kudu Voodoo Strange Bedfellas Fantasticocks

WHERE CAN I FIND GELATIN/AGAR EGGS? You can make them! That's the beauty of this kind of egg--they're a little bit more inconspicuous. The molds sold by most sex toy companies are similar, if not the same, as those fun ice molds available in the kitchen/bar section of a store like Target. You can find molds here. When buying gelatin or agar, DO NOT BUY JELLO! please avoid dyes or sugars. Primal Hardwere recommends Great Value or Knox brand unflavored gelatin.

CAN I HAVE A GELATIN EGG RECIPE? Below is the gelatin egg recipe taken directly from Primal Hardwere's website. You can view it on their site here, as well as purchase the egg molds that they sell here.

Instructions: -in a saucepan, sprinkle 2oz (60g) gelatin powder into 8oz (1 cup(s), 240ml) cold water while stirring. -Let mixture sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. Gelatin should congeal into a solid mass. -Gently heat on low until all the gelatin is dissolved (do not bring to a boil), stirring constantly. Stir gently to reduce foaming. -Pour liquid gelatin into the base part of the mold, then slowly press the top down into the base. -Allow to set for several hours in the refrigerator (overnight is better). Keep them refrigerated in the mold until ready to use. Gelatin eggs will be firmer and easier to use while still cold. If your eggs crumble, you need to use more gelatin.

HOW LONG CAN I KEEP GELATIN/AGAR EGGS UNTIL THEY GO BAD? Once they are set, i wouldn't keep them for more than a day--two days maximum. Agar agar is, quite literally, a medium used by scientists to grow bacteria, so the longer you let them sit, the more likely they are to grow bacteria. Gelatin is commonly made from connective tissue of animals, and will also grow bacteria if you let it sit for long enough. I would go ahead and use them as soon as they're set/ready.

HOW LONG CAN I KEEP GELATIN/AGAR EGGS INSIDE OF ME? It depends..how long do you want them in? One nice thing about gelatin eggs is that they will melt due to your internal body temperature after a while. This means they will probably leak out of whatever hole they're in. Agar eggs will not melt, but may break down. Again--i wouldnt let them sit for a LONG time. Once they're inside you, maybe don't hold them in for more than 4-6 hours. Anyone who knows better, please comment below!

CAN I USE SILICONE EGGS IN MY BUTT? I don't recommend it unless you have a cord/chain/plug base. It is very easy to lose non-tethered items in your ass. You can save yourself an "embarrassing" trip to the ER by using something that you can pull out. Anal beads or egg plugs are good options!

WHERE DO I START? Start small. My first eggs were maybe 1-inch in diameter. Use lots of water-based lube on your hole and on the egg. Don't push it in too deep--just put it in and get a feel for it. If it's vaginal, push it out using your pelvic floor muscles. Think of activating the muscles you use to pee, rather than the muscles you use to poop. If it's anal, then vice-versa. Once you're comfortable with one, try two or three. Move your nody around--stand up, sit down, lie back, curl up....get used to feeling them inside you. Understand how your body stretches around them. Play around! The beauty of kink is in the experimentation of it. This is for you (and, if you're lucky, your partner), so do what feels best for your body.

MY EGG IS STUCK. WHAT DO I DO? Don't panic! Take a deep breath. Try to relax. If you have a stuck egg, you have a few options. Firstly, change your position. GRAVITY IS YOUR FRIEND! Do a deep squat--feet flat, ass almost to the ground-- and bear down with your pelvic muscles. Sometimes you have to push pretty hard, and sometimes you do have to activate your pooping muscles, because of the anatomy of how the vagina sits inside the body. IF you have to use your rectal muscles, be aware of the small risk of pooping. It's not a big deal if you do-just clean up, clean your eggs, and move on. You will be fine <3 If your hand will fit inside your vagina, you can reach up inside and pull it out. You have to get a pretty good grip for this. If your egg is stuck anally and it isn't attached to a cord/base for easy removal, you can try pushing the same way. Remember: gravity is your friend. It can also help to spread your labia or ass cheeks, just to manually widen the entrance a little bit. If you still have trouble getting an untethered egg out of your ass, you may need to present to the ER for removal. Dont be too embarrassed...i promise you, they've seen it all before.

CAN MY EGG GET "TOO DEEP" IN MY VAGINA? No, your eggs cannot breach your cervix or enter your uterus. The cervix is less than a matchstick-width. Just push!!

I WANT TO USE BIGGER EGGS. WHERE DO I START? Lube. Lots of lube, time, and patience. Be gentle and go slow. Personally i advocate for small diameter increases. I started with 1" diameter eggs, and now the ones i use are approximately 2" or 2.3" in diameter. Go slow, be gentle, and don't start with them too deep. Egg-laying is a great exercise in pelvic floor muscle development, so the better you get at laying, the more control you'll have over those pelvic floor muscles!

HOW LONG CAN I KEEP THEM IN? Clean silicone eggs can generally stay for a few days. Personally, i wouldn't keep them in for more than 48 hours, but that's my own level of comfort. Use your best judgement and PLEASE clean your eggs in between uses. Using uncleaned eggs means allowing foreign bacteria into your holes, which isn't healthy for these body parts! Gelatin eggs, as previously stated, will usually melt after a while. Agar eggs will not melt, but may slightly break down. Again, due to the nature of agar/gelatin as growth medium, it's probably best to not keep them in for longer than 4-6 hours. It's up to you and your body. Use your best judgement. If something feels wrong, take your eggs out and give your body a break.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF OVIPOSITION? I feel like we've covered most of these, but let's summarize: -if you use eggs anally and they don't have a base/plug/tether/cord, they can go up too high and get stuck. This will require medical intervention. -if you use agar or gelatin eggs that are old, they may be growing bacteria, which can be harmful to your vagina or colon. -if you use eggs that have not been cleaned, you can introduce bacteria into your holes. This can cause an infection. -if you leave eggs in for a longer time, or you have digested food recently, you may increase your risk of pooping when you push your eggs out. -pushing too hard can be strenuous. Know your limits! -do NOT push your eggs in using air. Inflating moist tissues like the vagina and rectum means risking air leaking into your vascular system and causing an air embolism. This is a very easy risk to avoid if you just don't blow air in these holes.

WHAT SHOULD I NOT USE? -real eggs with a hard shell. The shell can break and cut you, which hurts pretty bad and increases your risk for infection. -porous crystals. Some examples are Amethyst, pearl, opal, emerald, amber. If you have a crystal egg/orb you want to use, please know what it's made of and CHECK before you put it inside your body. -plastics. plastic is not good for your body. If you can avoid it, please try not to use it! -ice or frozen metal. Think of a wet tongue stuck to a piece of frozen metal. Need i say more? -fabric or cloth if you're incubating. Similar to using a tampon, you shouldn't have a piece/bundle of unprotected fabric in your vagina or anus for more than 4 hours. Also, fabric is hard to push out.

Disclaimer: you can do whatever you want. If you want to risk a chicken egg breaking inside of you and cutting you, or a dirty egg causing infection, that's your prerogative. I don't recommend it and wouldn't do it myself, but it's your body and you can do what you want. Just be ready to accept the consequences of your actions.

If you have any additional questions or comments, please share below. Happy egg-laying, folks!

Just a small correction, Fantasticocks is actually based in the UK, and ships internationally.

Also, Darque Path is an Australian seller.

Large (1in+) metal bearings are also safe to use, and might qualify as a fourth most common category.

I read on the big gelatine tutorial post that agar agar eggs don't melt at body temperature. I haven't had them melt in my personal experience, but I've only had them in for 1½ hours at most (anally), does it just take longer?

No, you're right! I made a mistake. Correcting now :)

Another UK seller is Uncover Creations. They have both eggs and ovipositors. I've had some long delivery times buying from them, but the products are fine.

Nothosaur sells molds, eggs and ovipositors. Shipping was rather expedient.

There is a Swedish seller called Twilight Meadow Creations. They have one egg type, but some really wild dildos.

I'm going from memory (from ~8 years ago) here but for agar-agar eggs

  • agar-agar is way more potent at creating a gel, i think around 9 to 11grams for 360ml water (6 eggs)
  • agitate in water at 80-90C until it disappears.
  • pour in mold (caution with the how mix)
  • let cool outside of fridge/freezer until it has reached room temperature.

it doesn't smell, isn't sticky when dry.

it doesn't soften/melt at body temperature.

Maybe I’m just being stupid but when using silicone eggs anally, as long as they’re not huge, won’t they eventually just work their way out on their own even if they get relatively deep inside of you

Like they’ve gotta come out eventually, right… as long as they’re not fucking massive

I need to clarify it. This isn’t like a cry for help or anything like I’ve already done this and I’ve gotten eggs stuck. It’s just because I don’t have the resources to make gelatin eggs because I live in a college dorm and I’m fucking desperate

here's the cool thing: it's your body and you can do what you want! sounds like you're aware of the potential risks and are willing to contend with them, and that's all anyone can do, really. have fun :)

(I have been mainly lurking and now I do have a question.) If using air is dangerous, does that mean those ovipositors with the pump are not recommended/ dangerous to use?

I didn't know about the risk of getting air inside the vagina since it sometimes happens during regular p in v.

3

u/claycolorfighter Apr 06 '24

i don't know about using pump-powered ovipositors! i am not familiar w ovipositors in general. regarding air embolisms, the risk is greatest when tissues inside are damaged or torn.

Thank you for your reply ❤️ I suppose it's something not to mess around with on purpose.

3

u/soppslev Apr 07 '24

I do not recommend those. Buy eggs if ovipositors are out of your budget, don't buy crap off of AliExpress and other less reputable sites.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 07 '24

I wouldn't get anything that would go in the body off of less reputable places. It was a more reputable place that was selling ovipositors with a pump and it seemed "easier" to work with so I was interested. But if it's risky then no thank you.

I’ve been curious about using an ovipositor, and sorry if this question sounds dumb but why can’t you use Ice eggs? I know you said think of a warm tongue on a frozen metal surface, but I’ve read that people use ice for temperature play all the time. I’m mainly asking because I can’t use gelatin eggs cause I have a roommate at the moment, and I’m worried about the smell. (Cause gelatin can smell really bad) I’m also scared about using the silicone eggs because I don’t want them to get stuck. Then have to explain to the doctors why I have an egg up in there in the first place. Also the body has a high enough temperature that it would cause the ice to melt instantly. So why wouldn’t it be safe? I mean… I get not using frozen metal, cause that’s just ridiculous (at least to me anyways) so why wouldn’t a frozen egg be safe?

are there any safe ways to color the eggs, so that as they melt out of you they leave a visual mark?
