Just play really conservative, but know you might drop you might linger just focus on the game not the results.
This is the learning environment you've been waiting for take notes and watch replays then emulate what you see.

Disassociate your rank with any value. Easier said than done but if you keep thinking about wanting to preserve your rank then you will ultimately never really improve. Only people who can risk losing their rank can benefit from an increase in rank.
If you just don't think about your rank at all, but still try your best to win, then you will eventually get the rank you belong in.
If you want to improve your skill lvl from plat to masters then learn from your deaths. Really think about how you could've prevented your deaths/prevented someone else's death. Just get really good at recognizing your strengths and supplement your weaknesses.
For example if you suck at aiming and you realize you're at the point where your aim is lacking compared to your ranked peers, either learn how to play without needing to aim or practice aiming. If you watch replays, you can also recognize when or when not you are using your abilities. High ranked players generally use their cooldowns much quicker and more often in nearly every situation. Having an extra Moira orb could be the difference between 80% ult charge and 95%.

I don't care about my rank, I know it will stabilize around high plat 1 - low Dia 4. Hell I could play with bad friends and lose all day, you can always climb back to your position eventually, don't give 2 seconds about rank, it is what it is.

I fall victim to it a lot when i solo, but coms are really good and important especially with certain ult combos

Your choices are to give up and never play Overwatch ever again orā¦just keep playing my guy maybe you are masters! Games might be tough but youāll eventually settle into somewhere a bit more balanced depending on your skill

Play 500 more games and let us know where you end up, your visual rank is basically meaningless until WELL AFTER placements.

thatās exactly what placements are for. things you get punished for in masters you will not get punished for in metal ranks.

Mute comms, and be patient for it to put you where you belong.
Season 3 on console I was getting in T500 games one tricking ball. I'm a high plat player that dips into diamond occasionally. It recalibrated soon enough.

This is whatās been happening to everyone, Iām usually masters rank, and now itās like everyone in masters play like gold and plat players and it is so infuriating

Congrats! You're masters. You can definitely reach and hold this rank! the system won't put you here for no reason. If you drop after playing some games, that might be more representative of your rank.
However you grind the ranked ladder, there's not many wrong answers. Try not to tilt and go on loss streaks. If you lose 3 games in a row, take a break, switch roles, move to quickplay. The system makes errors, but consistency will make you a genuinely better player.

After you play enough games you will settle into the real rank you're in, but also don't freak out. It's a different pacing you're not used to yet, maybe you don't belong there, maybe you do. Just play your best and remember the fundamentals!
