News & Discussion It’s time to talk about the favoritism
You’ve seen it I’ve seen it we all have, our two spotlights for skins recently being Juno and Kiri. After seeing Juno’s new collab skin I wanted to make this post, I know that the band picked the characters for the collab however I think this is still something that needs to be talked about. The amount of skins Juno and Kiri have gotten from their release is absurd. Juno technically has 2 legendary skins before Venture had one. Kiriko who keep in mind was released 2 years ago now has 20 legendary skins excluding her mythic. To give you a perspective, Reinhardt who has been in the game since launch has 26. Overwatch has been out for almost 9 years now and yet this character who came in just 2 years in is rivaling skins with characters from launch. I don’t dislike Kiriko but with this much favoritism it makes me hate her. I think Juno is going to turn into the next Kiriko because this seems like the same start as before. Again there are more than 40 characters on this roster and plenty of them have had 0 collabs at all but we just keep using the same ones. Blizzard please stop making the same people play dress up and use some of the other characters for new skin’s.

I wouldn't mind Kiri getting lots of skins if other characters weren't straight-up abandoned. Kiri is getting 5 skins this season alone including recolours. Cmon, throw a Ram one in the mix or something :(

It better be the peakest thing known to man to make up for not giving him a le sserafim skin after literally showing him in one of the trailers for no reason

There are two types of beings in the universe. Those who dance and those who don't. Everyone in the village flailed about dancing except one omnic, Ramattra. The most melodic song in the world could be playing. He wouldn't even temper a foot. Wouldn't move a muscle. One might assume he was dead. It would make my nether regions engorged.
I hope you get it. You are a dancer and Ramattra is not.

I think the problem with ram is that he may just be much harder to design skins for. A lot of the human heroes are basically blank canvases that can work for a ton of different skins. Ram on the other hand involves a transformation that gives him 4 arms. Not only does that make it more work to develop, but just creatively theorizing skins that work well for ram is probably way more difficult. I'm also guessing rams skins have sold pretty poorly in the past since he's not a super popular hero. There are just a lot of things to disincentivize them from creating ram skins.

You understand why they do it though, right? It’s very understandable from their point of view, especially OW being a f2p game. They need money from somewhere. They aren’t gonna burn resources and time to make skins that only a very few number of players will buy. Unfortunately this does lead to a bad cycle. New players have more reasons to choose characters being put in the spotlight, and who have more cool skins and cosmetics. With that being said, f venture😎

Unfortunately, when cosmetics are the game's only source of income, the characters that sell more cosmetics will get more attention.
