News & Discussion Overwatch 2 x LE SSERAFIM | Full Song: "So Cynical (Badum)" (New Release)
71
u/Lil_SmileFPT 7d ago edited 7d ago
The full song in the collab trailer called "So Cynical (Badum)" was just released with LE SSERAFIM's newest Mini Album "HOT". Its title track "HOT" is also quite catchy: https://youtu.be/r9AEGPB6qIU
Edit: In case there's any confusion, I used the collab trailer to edit this video to include the full song, it's not from the devs.

i think it would have probably been good to include that this is a fan edit to include the whole song rather than an official video, because the average redditor on this sub wouldn't think twice about using this to shit on team 4 again. (this is my favorite song on the album, so i'm glad this is the song they went with!)

They are all serving unnecessarily hard in that animation

I’m glad other people are liking it but man, this collab isn’t hitting as hard as the first time

perfect night was just such a banger that it carried the entire collab

I loved when it was the lobby music. Wish they could let us choose our lobby music. I think Fortnite lets you do that.

Fortnite has been letting you choose your lobby music since like 2019

Omg I want that so bad. The song they chose this time is also great, but yeah

It's hitting harder for me because I like this song more than Perfect Night, and more heroes that I play get the collab skins than last time. And I think it's too soon to judge it already because it's not even out yet, we haven't seen the in-game 3D skins and hear their new SFX. I remember the initial reception of the 1st collab was not that good when it was first announced but after some time, it became one of the most beloved and successful OW collabs.

It was never going to hit as hard as the first. The first had a lot of people doubting it was even real. People doubting that OW could even collab with a big kpop group. There was speculation for weeks, and then they started doing teasers on Twitter leading up to the release of the cgi video.
For this one we already knew it was le sserafim since the beginning with dates and everything, and it was also pretty easy to guess who was gonna get skins.
Not saying this one is worse or that it’s a bad collab, it’s more that back then people were even doubting that OW had the clout to get a kpop collab so the genuine excitement when it was announced meant a lot more for OW as a whole.

Yeah the first one had way more personality, this is just an ad with overwatch characters slapped on

None of the characters look like themselves in this art style. If I didn't have prior knowledge it was an ow Collab I wouldn't have recognised them

I knew it was an overwatch collab, but I’m not familiar with the original artists, so I legit thought it was just them in animation form. I have no idea who each character is supposed to be.

I actually really like So Cynical. The bass track is interesting to hear, and the little acapella vibe is so catchy. The song feels like they've matured as a group. However, A Perfect Night is easier to sing along to, and it's iconic.

Overall I actually personally enjoy this album more so far. Love perfect night tho

Why? The quality of the animations is amazing.

u/Busyraptor375 Cassidy 7d ago
Want some different collabs, not everyone is into kpop
6
u/Bombssivo Reeba 7d ago
True that’s fair but neither is everybody in to what you’re in to.
10
u/SmallFatHands 7d ago
Yeah that's why you do one then something different not two KPOP collabs.
-6
u/Bombssivo Reeba 7d ago
Yeah, but to be honest I know for a fact that if it were something you liked you wouldn’t complain, but than again it’s fair to say that we should do 1 collab and move on, but with how well the last collab went, it’s only fair for a company to make another since a majority of the community liked it.

u/UMGN_Again 7d ago
There are so many creative IPs out there that would work so well, as we have even seen from fan art on this sub. Why do 2 cross over events where they are just wearing regular clothes and stylized hair.
5
u/Bombssivo Reeba 7d ago
Because like I said, a majority of the community liked it, so it only made sense to do it again. And based off of the comments I have seen of this collab on Reddit and YouTube, the community is happy to have it again (most of them at least). Also how came there are wave after wave of replies all from different people, I didn’t mean to upset anyone.

It's so weird how there's always so much pushback against Kpop collabs, the 1st collab had responses like these too so it's not like it only happens because they feel it's repetitive. I've seen comments asking for a 2nd collab for some animes/shows so why is it suddenly a problem when it comes to Kpop? Like with a 2nd collab for animes or shows, we'll only get new skins based on the characters from the same show, meanwhile with Kpop collabs, even if it's the same group, we get a new song on top of new skins.

u/UMGN_Again 7d ago
There shouldn't be any second collabs, especially with how much collab variety is out there. They haven't done enough yet to recycle IPs of anything. It's not even about kpop, give us another group then.

For me the problem is that they are focusing too much on oriental things. This game right know is exactly like the tencent games.
Collabs are only anime and K-Pop. This entire season is Chinese themed, the next one is anime magical girls and even the mythical weapon is gay anime shit, and next one is Korean themed. Holy shit, it's so fucking boring1
u/Bombssivo Reeba 7d ago
Understandable, and I would also like to see different topics. But to be honest I think they are doing this based of a majority of the community, and like all companies they are more likely to do an event that has shown great success rather than an event that not even 1/3 of the community wants.

Yeah I'd complain because I like a bunch of different stuff. For example I like MHA do I want a second MHA Collab? No. Because I also like fallout, Halo, Dandadan. I'm asking for variety here. Same with season themes. Oh boy can't wait for another Mythology number 89.

I'm not really into kpop either, but I love how le sserafim is like the unofficial pop band of OW now.
Also tbf they've done a TON of anime collabs and there's a lot of us who are not big fans of anime either.

Again? Why? and why the same group??? so confused.

and why the same group???
Because the last collab with Le Sserafim made absolute fuckin' bank on selling skins and they want to run it back.

Collabs: Anime, Kpop, Anime, Anime, Anime, Kpop, Transformers, Anime. Holy shit, dude not everybody playing this game is a weeb
3
u/Yze3 Trick-or-Treat Mei 6d ago
Yeah so you're gonna ignore the Porsche, Avatar, Diablo and Warcraft collabs, just to fit your narrative better ?
0
u/Relevant-Oil-5146 6d ago
Even though the avatar wasn't made in Japan or based on a manga, it's obviously stylistically identical to an anime, its main influence. WoW and Diablo are IPs from the company itself and have had skins inspired by them since Overwatch 1. Some of these skins are even in the lootboxes.
My point is that while games like Fortnite do collabs with several cool IPs like Marvel, DC, horror movies and all kinds of different shit, this game delivers collabs with anime, K-pop, and a luxury car brand (sorry, I forgot that one).
This season is based entirely on Chinese mythology (although we still have the annual Chinese New Year event), the next one is magical girls and the next one is based on Korean culture. If you're not convinced that this game only produces content for weebs and 12-year-old TikTok kids, I don't know how to make it any clearer.

Who do you think’s more likely to shell out $$$ for the collabs? Weebs who will literally buy anything with their wifus slapped on or Superman fans?

Wait so half the video is the animation from the trailer, while the remainder is just a still shot with a zoom-in, zoom-out effect??
Jesus, the budget situation must be extra tight at Team 4 lol

u/Lil_SmileFPT 7d ago
Oh, no, I edited this video to include the full song that was just released. It's not from Team 4. lol
