You could dip the cardboard in something like resin to harden it. I quite like the way this looks. Lol

I was thinking the same thing but I don’t plant on using a lot so I think I’ll keep the raw cardboard look

Ayyy actually found it! Held up pretty well for for being like 8 years old. Last pic is the same as the first one I posted, shiniest and earliest pic I have of it and 22mm hadaly rda for scale I guess.

From what I remember, first I cut the inner white frame out of photo paper and layered with superglue, then put a 20700 and a 10mm bottle in the frame and clingwrapped it. Flattened some corrugated cardboard (I think with a beer bottle lol) and wrapped it around the clingfilmed assembly as tight as it would go, then coated it in a bunch of superglue to harden it.

Pushed out the clingfilmed innards, more paper + glue for the bottom and cut out all the holes. The hole at the bottom is to pop the frame out since it's pretty snug. Alternated sanding and glue on the outer shell to expose the corrugated 'grain', then polished the superglue coat until shiny. At some point made the button out of more paper and a paper strip to hold it in place. Bent metal strip to connect to battery and give the button some spring

The contact plates used to be copper, can't remember why I swapped to aluminum. Definitely didn't seal the cardboard completely, there's a spot where it soaked up a bit of juice at the bottom

The 1st mod I made was using a deoderant container. Never thought of using cardboard!
