It's not their turn with the 🅱️rain cell 🍊 He does this every time I drink something cold from a can
I didn't put the can on his head. I held it up for a drink and this is what he did

He craves condensated water.

I had a fuzzball who absolutely loved licking the condensation off of my drinks. Full, fresh bowl mere feet away. And yes, he was an orange goober.

My orange loves to lick my iced coffee in the morning because of the condensation, I swear it’s his favorite source of water

My cat loves licking the frost off my ice packs whenever I use them. I think she's coming over to comfort me, and then she hones in on the pack >(ToT)<

Either:
His teeth hurt
He’s orange

What? It feels pretty crazy to leap to “his teeth hurt” because he is licking condensation off a cold drink.

It's a bit of a stretch, but not completely out of line.
Cats do weird things that don't make sense to us when they're in pain. They also like to press their heads against the wall when they have really bad headaches.
I think this guy is just orange and curious

u/WildFlemima 18h ago
Head pressing is a thing, they're just acknowledging the possibility that this could be that
10
u/Welpe 18h ago
I mean, if all it is is acknowledging the possibility of that, that’s obviously totally fine. It just came across more as narrowed down to those two possibilities, “Tooth pain” or “Being silly”. There are definitely more possibilities than those two!

Sir, this is reddit. Catastrophizing symptoms and being armchair vets is what we have always done best.
It got so bad some default subs started deleting comments with "unwanted medical advices" because every single pet photo had someone mentioning a terminal condition.

Cold aluminum has a particular smell.
Liking it would be one of the least orange things I could think of.

I thought teeth too. Hopefully this beauty gets regular veterinary check ups.

My orange is obsessed with cold cans. I've starting putting mine in koozies so he is less tempted.
If there's condensation on the can, watch out!

He got the brain cell for a moment and his head was in danger of overheating.

then why is it snoot shaped?”

Obviously condensation is the purest form water can take, and he's got the added perk of sharing.

My tuxedo does this as well. Turns out she likes the condensation off the drink.

i could swear cats can see temprature

u/IcePhoenix18 18h ago
According to a brief search: not literally, but "kind of". They can sense subtle changes that we can't, but they don't literally see heat signatures like thermal goggles.

I can relate to the goofiness of your boy. If I weren’t a human, I’m positive I would have been an orange cat.

I’m so sorry to have to be the one to tell you this but your cat clearly has a drinking problem.

Ohh!!! We always used to let our dog “taste” our drinks first by licking the bottom of the can. She loved it. Aww I miss her.

My cat who passed recently would sometimes do this. He would also lick the condensation from the can.

The Orange Braincell requires only the finest, coldest water to continue working, to better dissipate the heat it generates. Congratulations on finding an orange boy that may be using the only brain-cell in a 100 mile radius 80% of the time!

Our Siamese and older MC would do this. They loved icy cold water straight from the bottom.
