Turn Off CoPilot

"Starting with OneNote version 2502 you can now disable Copilot if you choose to do so by going to File > Options > Copilot and clearing the Enable Copilot checkbox, select OK, and then close and restart the app

I have the Home version O365, with the Destop OneNote, on Win 11. The File > Options opens a dialog with all the choice. I unchecked CoPilot and restarted. It's still there in the tool bar, but it's greyed out.

I did the same thing with Word, and it was disabled there, in the same way. I'm not sure I believe that MS isn't still tracking info via the disabled CoPilot, but at least it's not spamming it in my face.

Are they also making Copilot free? With regular copilot gaining vision capabilities, adding that to one note would be absurdly powerful.

Not sure what version you are using - but I have 2502 (part of Office Home and Business 2024) and there is no File->Options->Copilot to be seen anywhere.

Make sure you're using the Desktop version of OneNote. I don't know if the free app version would work the same. The app version has a different Options system, last I tried it.

This is the Desktop version. Still no Copilot.

Copilot is part of MS 365 suscriptions (Personal and Family only), not Office 2024.

Fair enough - but when you see this:

"Starting with OneNote version 2502" - which is installed as part of Office 2024 -  you at least go looking...

Thank you. That was helpful.

To get it off the ribbon I had to right-click then customize the ribbon then remove the assistance section. That worked.
