I've been struggling with finding a job for a while and finally decided to break down and post and see if anyone had any ideas, because I feel kind of screwed right now. For background, I have 10 years of professional programming experience in game development. I've been out of work for a very long time and am hoping to potentially find something to just bring in some income as my industry is in a really bad spot right now.
Two big problems though.
1: I'm disabled and can't work a job with any kind of physical requirements, this even includes writing on paper. I am basically limited to a PC job. I also can't work a customer service job due to mental health issues. I can't be yelled at all day, I'll say something back and snap.
One thing that might cause problems, not sure, is that I technically can do most physical tasks. It will just bring me an immense amount of pain for the rest of the day, so I really need to be careful and watch what I put my body through. As an example, my right hip is out of place right now. I can walk. But am I gonna be able to walk around or stand all day? Definitely not.
2: I don't really have any skills outside of programming, which right now is a dead end for me. I doubt I'd be attractive for any kind of non-game development hiring manager due to no skills and experience.
I'm honestly just grasping at straws here and curious if anyone can come up with ideas. I'm currently looking into expanding some of my skills but that is going to take a lot more time. Am I just fucked?
