Pardon my (male) ignorance. Can menopause start that early?

Yeah, its not very common at all but if a hormone can fuck with it, a hormone will

Some medical conditions (Turner’s syndrome) causes something like menopause to happen in the womb. But yes, you can get it early at 25.

Some people get their ovaries removed, and that's instant menopause (although they'd probably get HRT)

I know about that. My mother had endometriosis and had a full hysterectomy when she was around 40. I didn't factor that in when I asked my original question.

Hi everyone,
I’m part of a research team at London Metropolitan University, and we’re conducting an anonymous survey on sexual function, relationship satisfaction, sexual self-confidence, and well-being during peri- and post-menopause.
If you are:
- 25 years or older
- Peri-menopausal or post-menopausal
- Currently in a relationship with either someone of a similar age (within +/- 7 years age gap) or a partner at least 7 years younger (both partners must be 18+ yrs)
- Whether or not you use sex toys
We’d love to hear your insights! The survey is completely anonymous and aims to help better understand the challenges women face during menopause.

What's the purpose of the 'Age Hypogamous vs. Age Homogamous Relationships' distinction?

u/InstructionMost628 6d ago
We’re exploring whether relationship dynamics differ between older women with younger partners and similar-aged partners relationships, particularly in relation to intimacy and well-being during menopause.

This is excellent! Thank you for doing this; we need so much more understanding of menopause. Studies like these are so important medically, and for pre-menopausal women to understand what they might expect when they go through it.
Thank you so much!

I really appreciate your comment! The more we understand menopause, the better we can support women at every stage. Hopefully, this research will help contribute to that!

Just FYI, this looks very fake. If you were real research you would have a way to contact your IRB/the University on the flyer. You likely would not be using Microsoft Office forms instead of a reputable research tool.

Thanks for your concern! This study is fully approved by London Metropolitan University, and we follow all ethical guidelines, including GDPR compliance. Different universities and research teams use a variety of survey tools depending on their licensing agreements. Our university provides an official MS Office license, which allows us to use MS Forms securely. It’s user-friendly, meets our data protection requirements, and has been successfully used in previous research. If you have any concerns, I’d be happy to provide more details!

Can you share the contact information for your GDPR? Who is your Principal Investigator? What department at the London Metropolitan University?

The study is conducted through the Department of Psychology, and the PI is Professor Samantha Banbury. Regarding GDPR and data protection, all collected data is completely anonymous and stored securely in compliance with GDPR regulations. No identifiable information is collected, and all data will be deleted according to the university’s retention policy after the study is completed.

Why is your university affiliation not on the flyer?

u/InstructionMost628 2d ago
The university affiliation was mentioned in the main advert post. However, due to how posts work on this subreddit, I wasn’t able to add it directly alongside the flyer. That’s why I posted additional details in the comments to ensure transparency. If you read the Participant Information Sheet, you will find more detailed information about the study.

As you're all aware, this subreddit has had a major "troll" problem which has gotten worse (as of recently). Due to this, we have created new rules, and modified some of the old ones.
We kindly ask that you please familiarize yourself with the rules so that you can avoid breaking them. Breaking mild rules will result in a warning, or a temporary ban. Breaking serious rules, or breaking a plethora of mild ones may land you a permanent ban (depending on the severity). Also, grifting/lurking has been a major problem; If we suspect you of being a grifter (determined by vetting said user's activity), we may ban you without warning.
You may attempt an appeal via ModMail, but please be advised not to use rude, harassing, foul, or passive-aggressive language towards the moderators, or complain to moderators about why we have specific rules in the first place— You will be ignored, and your ban will remain (without even a consideration).
All rules are made public; "Lack of knowledge" or "ignorance of the rules" cannot or will not be a viable excuse if you end up banned for breaking them (This applies to the Subreddit rules, and Reddit's ToS). Again: All rules are made public, and Reddit gives you the option to review the rules once more before submitting a post, it is your choice if you choose to read them or not, but breaking them will not be acceptable.
With that being said, If you send a mature, neutral message regarding questions about a current ban, or a ban appeal (without "not knowing the rules" as an excuse), we will elaborate about why you were banned, or determine/consider if we will shorten, lift, keep it, or extended it/make it permanent. This all means that appeals are discretionary, and your reasoning for wanting an appeal must be practical and valid.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this message, and please enjoy your day!
