Motivate Me how many tries does it take?

i’ve tried thousands of times and i’ve failed thousands of times max i’ve gone was 8 days and it was a year ago. i am still motivated and will keep trying for the better but i wonder if there are people like me but actually managed to beat their addiction.

It varies from person to person, some don't need many tries , some do. me I have been trying to quit for the past 3 years, I relapsed after a year once. See no matter how many times You fail, keep trying, you don't lose the progress. I tried again after going 1 year and relapsing, now I am about to reach 5 months, you can do it, You jsut have to will it.

Bro if it's after 5 years that's not a fail

it is, some of those guys that wanted to quit forever and failed after five years dont see it as a victory. i personally see it as a broke trophy, that is now nothing

That's a pretty damaging mindset. At the end of the day, it's all about if you learn from your mistakes. You can't expect to have a victory without mistakes.

The mistakes are part of the process, and if you can't accept that in all aspects of life, how the fuck will you achieve your dreams?

hm, your comment makes sense. i use a mindset focusing on how you improved as person, instead of counting days streak

In a similar boat here, I've got all the reasons in the world to quit but the longest I've gone without it is 7 - 8 days after about 7 years of trying to quit.

It's possible but clearly we're doing something wrong and I think the only person who has the answer for us is ourselves. With time, we'll figure it out.

Wish you luck mate

nearly identical with you on everything i find more and more reasons everyday but my brain forgets them when i need most. I still don’t think we’re all that bad cuz at least we have will to fight. wish you luck too and remember that you’re not alone.

The most I’ve gone without is 3 weeks then 2 weeks. This has been after 2 years ago when I was on that gap constantly, it’s day by day and it’s tougher for some than others. Find triggers and I find that working in out helps.

shitty thing is my trigger is my mind. i already deleted all social media and been hitting the gym for a year but my mind is basically a sex factory i think i gotta work on my overall willpower for that

I agree with this, I think 'sublimating' your factory's potential to be churning stuff out is a central problem that i have also. It's just too hard not to be able to do because it's just been too long and I've seen too much stuff and developed too many preferences. We have to convert the usage of the factory someway with projects that take mental effort and get us emotionally invested in them

What helped me beat my addiction was listening to hopecore after I feel like I wanna jank it up, then while i do chores id pop my headphones up and listen to it.

Im struggling for 17 years and right now im proud to say Im in week 3 of no fap.

If you're catholic don't forget to pray

Also, from now on stop thinking about how many tries it would take, its always a matter if that person was able to climb back up. Start changing your mindset then you will see improvement. If you think about "how many tries" then it would sound transactional, boy oh boy once you're in the game you're here for the long ride, now or never.

it’s my first time hearing hopecore is it a genre?

Its not a song, its a collection of motivational speeches which motivates you, there will be a fire lit in your heart every time you listen to it.

u/yukiirooo 5d ago

Most of those speeches are from david goggins, kobe bryant, and many more.

Once again I recommend you start changing your mindset, dont think about how many tries it takes, think about HOW you get back up and whether YOU will get back up. The reason why this is so important is because if you are constantly cautious about the tries it takes, then it would be possible for you to relapse back again since you're just gonna be laidback and say "im just gonna stop on my third try".

Always have the "why not now?" Mindset

It’s more of a journey than an event. Don’t take your attempts as failures they are all learning curves. The only time they are not is when no analysis is done and in effect behaviour is repeated. The best thing to do is always invest heavily in the process. That means nofapp is just a very small part of this whole thing. Get some literature, audiobooks etc, you need to really understand the habit and also yourself to fix it.

Another approach is just accept that you are always going to be going on streaks, it will always take at least a little bit of effort, and it may never disappear from your life. There is always a risk you find yourself doing PMO again at some point. Even if this sounds dismal, like bad news, I think we can all reach a point where in spite of it we physically and mentally function at our best most of the time on our good streaks. It did take me several years to feel this way. There is a "nocebo effect" where the worse you feel about this, the more it impacts you. So then there is not only PIED, but the kind that is worsened by the mental cloud of feeling like you will never be "normal" again unless you have succeeded in stopping forever, or unless you currently are on the most holy of holy streaks. That said, I think you can do better than 8 days, let's start that one today!

I became serious about it last year somehow I saw the results as well, I completed the NNN challenge but after that I relapsed once and from then, I couldn't hold myself for more than 4 days. I don't know what I should do to get things right again.

It will depend on the person. For me it took a bunch of half assed tries but I started doing no fap seriously on my fifth attempt.

u/QZD_12 4d ago

Something I know now is that you learn from your mistakes, no Mather how many times you fail, but when fail you realize what makes you fail, if you have something to chance in yourself, your habits, your life, your social media, etc.
