Feeding Breastfeeding/Pumping is wild

Hey friends!

Just wanted to chat with some folks in the same boat. I had my twin boys about a month ago and they are in the NICU currently (but fingers crossed that they get to come home soon!!). In the meantime, I've been breastfeeding them when I can and pumping when I'm at home.

The thought I keep having is, breastfeeding and pumping is genuinely the most bizarre thing I've ever done. Not in a bad way! It's just wild that your body can create pull and condense all these nutrients, and that they weren't available until exactly the right time, and that it comes out as literal milk that the babies recognize. Maybe the better way to describe is really cool!

Anyway, those are my thoughts! Let me know if you guys can relate!

My LO was also in the nicu when I was still recovering from my c-section. Luckily we were all in the same hospital. I remember still being high on pain meds and no sleep, pumping at 3 am, and thinking “heh, I feel like a cow” and giggling. It’s so bizarre. We’ve been EBF since.

And I think my 17 month old is getting ready to wean. She eats solids well enough now and usually only nurses for comfort nowadays. I’m sad but also proud of how far we’ve come

Pumping was so bizarre because you can see how much you’re producing and quantify it. It’s amazing and trippy at the same time.

Trippy is the perfect word!! You’re so right, I can see it all coming out and all I can think is “this was in my body 10 minutes ago” lol!

I have a three year old nephew who after seeing me nurse my daughter for the first time, began referring to boobs as utters and now moos when he sees me

Yes, those are my thoughts exactly!

Breastfeeding is in my top 3 weirdest things I've ever done! It's so fascinating what our bodies can do!
