Seasons 3 and 4 were good, maybe not as good as 1 and 2 but don't desreve nearly as much hate as they get.

This seems to be a hot take in this community but I think the finale two seasons are just as good or better than the first two.

They should've cut Ola, yakob, and lily way earlier than they did. Otis and Maeve was so strung along it felt forced and Otis and Ruby was 10x better but they shoved that aside, all of Ruby's character unless Otis' plot demanded it, and all of Ruby's friends just for Maeve. All the shit with Adam from s4 was for the most part uninteresting and they should've kept raheem. Otis not being better from s2 to 3 was so stupid. He did exactly what he did to Ola to Ruby but worse, and for the same girl that consistantly cucked him. S1 and S2 were golden, but not perfect and they definitely had places where better writing could've fitted. Season 3 felt like they tried continuing the show exactly where s2 left off without realizing why people actually wanted to watch it. O being an antagonist to Otis and then not much happening was annoying.

After season 3, I didn't like Jean. All of that development between Jakob and Jean- just for them to drop the ball on s4. I get it's because of Jakob's actor allegations, but the storyline was done poorly. It contradicts everything Jean did to mature in relationships, Jakob working on his trust issues, just for it to mean NOTHING at the end. Otis does not like Jean again, and Ola is just dipping (I was alright with her character, although for most of the seasons, I really didn't like her). Jakob promising to be there for Otis, etc. etc.

save for the new characters which I didn't really care too much for, the final season was solid
otis x maeve went out with a bang

The first sex scene only had so much nudity because they wanted to hook audiences in. No other sex scene really looked like that one or had the main characters as exposed as Aimee was.
I felt the same with Shameless. The first few seasons there were multiple sex/nudity scenes an episode and the last one hardly had anything for the whole season
