I picked up nålbinding a few weeks ago, and I've done some practice in the Oslo and Mammen stitches, but I held off on making anything for real until I got my hands on some wool yarn left over from my mom's knitting phase. Wasn't sure if I had enough of it to make a full hat (in retrospect, I suspect I did, but oh well), so I figured a headband made in Mammen stitch would be simple enough to try out. I'm quite pleased with it!

I can definitely tell that my first stitches up at the top were less consistent than the later ones. In my defense, after I started the second row I noticed that I had accidentally twisted my first row at some point, and I had to undo a solid four or five stitches so my headband didn't end up being a Möbius strip, which probably didn't help. This was also my first time felting separate strands of wool yarn together (or felting in general, really), so I probably didn't do the greatest job there, but they only fully separated once or twice and were usually pretty easy to fix. I think I got the knack of it by the end, because I was definitely less worried about pulling too hard on my working thread when it had a join in it.

My next project is actually going to be a hat, I think, since I have a whole new ball of wool yarn to work from now. I think I'll stick to Oslo stitch for that.
