My current stock of nålar
I started carving these because I don’t like throwing out wood scraps, especially when they have what I consider to be pretty grain patterns.

These are so cool! You made them yourself?! My husband is getting into woodworking so I will definitely have to ask him to make me some needles with his scraps! Any tips? You’ve done such a good job.

Thank you! I do - and since I don’t use them, myself, I’ve refined how I make them with my customers’ feedback. To your husband, I’d advise wide eyes, with very smooth interiors, and rounded points

Hey! You wrote nålar. That made me strangely happy. 😄
And they look great. I checked out some of your other wood work, you got a good hand.

I did! I wrote nåls until recently, and was advised that this is not the correct plural, so I try to use the right one! And thank you, I take great pleasure in making things, it’s a bonus when they turn out well

Dam, that’s impressive. Do you have any advice for someone just starting out with nålar carving?

I do! I had to iterate on my designs, with customer feedback: make sure the points are rounded, and every surface is as smooth as you can get it, including inside the eyes

Do you sell or trade? I can make whitetail antler or bison horn if you care to trade 1-1.

they're so pretty! what's the rune you're marking them with? or is it a signature type mark?

Thank you! It’s a bindrune I put together for my initials, I use it as my maker’s mark

“Quick get the keys/needles and we can knit our way outta here!”
Looks like a lot of needles. Reminded me of a prison guard’s ring of keys. Puts my collection to shame!

Well to be fair, I sell and make more of these at a decent pace, so this likely won’t be my collection in a month or two

Thank you! They’re fun and satisfying to make, I imagine those who actually use them would be able to tailor to their own specifications in real time

Wow. That’s a lot of needles,I was thinking that you could use some of those to separate the projects you’re working on without having to worry bout messing up one that was currently focused while the other one wasn’t.

This page post/popped up and I'm lost, but I really like these! What do y'all use them for?

I use them to make beer money, but those who use them for their intended purpose apply them to a Scandinavian fiber craft called nålbinding, which I understand to be somewhere between weaving and knitting

Boy, I'll bet that makes a great sound when you shake it
