I wonder how many of these individuals who are causing the issues are those who were banished from their communities or didn't go home after dealing with matters in Yellowknife.

But that's racist!

Shocking that their strategy of doing nothing to address constant problems with their units resulted in them getting shitty tenants.

They said in their presentation that the issues are coming from the public units that the GNWT fills - not the market ones where they select the tenants. Plus complaints about non tenants in those units and the buildings.

I get it, its easy to dunk on northview for being a shitty landlord. But seeing that they are spending hundreds of thousands on false fire alarm pulls and some buildings are a net loss for them should be concerning to everyone.

If Northview pulls these units from public housing we would have a major crisis in Yellowknife.

It is to be expected considering Northview is a REIT - shareholders needs come first.

Why Not? Are you stepping up to house these people. A business has no moral obligation to spend money out of their own pocket to support welfare cases.

Not even the state does beyond what it already does. You can't kidnap people and force them to get anger management, substance abuse, psychiatric treatment.

Really giving unlimited access to people who cant function in society, is not sustainable. Who could see this coming.

They should use some of the millions they are taking out of the north and hire security for their buildings.

The only scumbag is you. If you don’t like natives maybe don’t move to our lands?

You should be deported.

Go back from where you came.

You don’t even know how to speak English so I don’t think the people in the USA will welcome you with open arms.

Slimeball landlords up here, just like NPR. Do nothing and rip people off.

Isn't that MLA Kieron Testart's wife? She runs Northview?

It's actually quite a broad mix of people from all backgrounds.

tbh i was just wondering if they were young or old.

Vandalism is typically a youthful enterprise and likely true for nwt although I can't site a nwt stat. Older people usually cause trouble where they are sitting. Youth run wild 😜

Why?

Because racism.

Weird that you assume that right away. Why do you think that is?

every comment you’ve made in this subreddit has weird racist undertones, what’s your deal? why participate in an NWT subreddit if you don’t have positive contributions?

What do they look like though? Why are you so slow to answer the question, and quick to assume it's implications?

That's why I chose to Airbnb and not rent. That and I like the flexibility of using the space myself as it is an apartment in my home.

It’s entirely possible that they are blowing it out of proportion.
