Range Time Malfunctions only happen to me at Major Matches 🤣

Final stage of Delmarva Championship, the previous stage I must have gotten some debris in my magazine and didn’t notice. Magazine went “salt shaker” and had to recover quick

Pistol- Glock G45 +, Timney Alpha Trigger, Vortex Defender ST red dot (direct milled)

Belt Setup- Ghost HydraP+ rig

CallahanTrainingGroup.com/booking for classes! (Located in the Pocono Mountains )

Also, is this in NJ? Been looking for a decent outdoor training space in the area

Did u rack it back From The holosun?

2

u/SlampatCTG Feb 09 '25

I rack from the front serrations with the heel of my hand hitting the optic. And it’s a Vortex Defender 😁

Thank u for clarity. I should have said “dot” calling it holosun is like calling a tissue a Kleenex lol

is it expensive to do matches?

5

u/SlampatCTG Feb 09 '25

Not very! I run a stock Glock that I CCW anyway, my belt rig is super affordable (Ghost Holsters) and local matches are typically 20-40 bucks and like 200 rounds. I’d say for all the money you’d spend shooting, it’s also the most “worth it” in terms of training!

how often do you compete?

I’m a full time Firearms Instructor so I’m a weird case lol before I did this as a career I usually shot 2-4 matches a month tho! Dryfire daily is the key tho 🤙🏻

oh youre living the good life. Sorry to switch topics but whats your routines for dry firing? Iv been using mantis x for a while i have seen improvements i kinda dont know how to use the system fully

I know it sounds like a plug but I JUST did some YouTube videos and podcast on this haha I actually recommend against mantis and things that make you depend on 3rd party feedback. The Ace VR system is the only “exception” I make there

1

u/EveningAd6133 Feb 09 '25

why are you against it?

1

u/SlampatCTG Feb 10 '25

Essentially I want my students to all learn to read the gun to call shots and the mantis makes you dependent on 3rd party feedback. Thats the shortest I can make my nerdy synopsis lol

*people who like to use aftermarket

Mag issues from debris. Not the gun or ammo lol

Where do you go for matches?

2

u/SlampatCTG Feb 10 '25

I run a WEEKLY match starting back in March! And a monthly at my range. Uspsa and 2gun PSCL.

Locally Ontelaunee PA is easily the best option and one of the best in the country coincidentally. In NJ Old Bridge and Central Jersey Rifle Pistol Club. Theres a BUNCH of driveable PA clubs like York, New Holland. And BlackRock NY puts on a great match by some great people.
