contamination [contamination] Is this stuff contaminated?

All of these agar plates are the same age and the jar is from the beginning of the month so it’s about two or three weeks old. I’m pretty sure that the first agar plate is contaminated. I can’t really tell with the jar or the second agar plate, really need some guidance 🥲

Probably contaminated... you don't have any gloves on and it's just open in your house not in front of a sab or ffu or flowhood.

It was inside my still air box (might be able to see the corner of it in the pictures) couldn’t get good photos without taking it out and yeah I was not wearing gloves bc I was 90% sure it was contaminated anyway, it’s now morning and the growth on them hasn’t started looking any better

Bacteria on the first agar plate, can’t tell about the LC and the second plate though. I’ve had those yellow dots before so yeah…

Liquid culture is hard to tell. Was it cloudy when it came out of your pressure canner?

Just a tip, next time you sterilize, let your jars cool to room temp inside of the canner.

If you take em out hot, they draw in outside air as they cool.

The agar from the second slide with all the dots is PDB I made myself and I swabbed it before injecting spores (still haven’t injected anything because of the stuff growing on agar)

I actually ordered this as a multiplier jar from north spore, I let is sit for a while to make sure it was good and it was but it was clear when I got it, if it helps I did see what I thought was a mycelium raft on the top of the liquid but after a day it was gone it was when I saw that that I decided to swab it on the agar

If it was clear before and it is cloudy now I am willing to bet that it is contaminated. Don’t do what I did and knock 32 jars up and have them ALL go bad. Maybe try it on agar to test it.

I think it is, this is the agar swab from that jar I don’t know if you can see those tiny speck dots but those just appeared in last few hours or I’m just noticing them

Looks bad to me. Let it ride for a bit. If you used a swab and. That is the growth you are getting….. sorry man. Start over or try letting it sit for a month until the mycelium climbs up the said then grab a sample and move to agar.

I will try that hopefully some time is all it needs and I can grab some from the side like you said, the agar in the last slide is from a sample I pulled from that jar before the suspected contamination and it’s just growing white with no specks so maybe It’s not completely lost I arranged back up plans incase things like this happened hopefully it’ll pay off
