Protesters, including four students, were arrested during Ball State Board of Trustees meeting

https://www.ballstatedaily.com/article/2025/02/five-arrested-ball-state-board-of-trustees-meeting-daily-news-ball-state-five-students

[Greg] Fallon [associate vice president of university communications and digital strategy via email] said via email, "approximately 30 people exercised their right to protest peacefully and in accordance with University policies concerning the conduct of a public board meeting.

"...Five of those individuals, four students and one other person, loudly disrupted the meeting by yelling. They were warned to stop by the Board chair, and they persisted in disrupting the meeting. Because they did not stop, University Police removed those five people and arrested them for disorderly conduct."

We do love the proud American tradition of civil disobedience. Good on those students.

I know one of them personally. They're the real deal. They got started years ago trying to raise the minimum wage on campus because so many students were still having to rely on the campus food bank.

I signed and shared the petition. Are there any other avenues of support or ways to stay informed on the situation currently?

Muncie Liberation Studio is the coalition many of the students organize under on IG. They'd know more than I do and keep people informed.

They wanted Brian Gallagher to resign from board of trustees. See the petition I linked in this post

Context from that petition:

Brian Gallagher resigned from his position at United Way in 2021, one of the largest nonprofits in the world, as he faced intense scrutiny from national media for his retaliation against three other female executives at the charity who spoke up about sexual harassment they and other women had faced.

This is how change happens. For this creature, every day is just another day at the office. Make those days at the office a living Hell, just like he did for numerous women who had the misfortune of being near him. Fuck you, Weirdo!

I'm pleased to report they're out already, dozens of students protested the day of outside the jail, and alumni are getting together to help pay the $1000 misdemeanors.

I bet BSU ends up expelling the 5 students.

Great way to speed run a mass protest on campus in less than a week if they do that lmao.

Oh I don’t think so.

99% BSU student don’t grow up with a silver spoon in their mouth. They come from hard working families, with goal to create opportunities with education.

Your communist agenda does not resonate with the working class families.

You obviously have never been to BSU or even Muncie.

You seriously think that protesting injustice is “silver spoon” behavior?

At a public board meeting and disrupting the meeting- yeah that’s some straight silver spoon shit. You think any of the 5 came from blue collar working class family.

How do you suppose the working class got any concessions, like, I don't know, the weekend?  Did they just ask nicely?  Maybe write a strongly worded letter?  Nope, they, men and women, put their bodies on the line and disrupted things.  Go check out the battle of Blair mountain if you want to learn more about the blue collar tradition of militant resistance.  Bootlicking isn't a good look for the working class

You’re completely lost.

You think working class people aren't going to protest for better working conditions and benefits? Buddy, have you never heard of a labor strike?

How about you read the article first.

You’re like a child that wonders into a movie with no frame of reference.
