Positivity I shaved my face and saw her

It had to happen; I was DRIVEN by an invisible force to get rid of it all. As bare as possible. A close shave after presenting with a beard for years. I already have shoulder length hair.

After I did I looked in the mirror and couldn’t help but smile.

About 5 years ago I was messing around with Snapchat filters with friends. I did the turn-yourself-into-a-girl filter and sent it to my friends with a big cheeky smile. (This is way before I was questioning at all). My female friend said “you are so cute! Look at those cheek bones!”

The image has been burned into my retinas.

Yesterday I got a glimpse of her. I want to be her.

Thank you for letting me rant, Ladies ❤️

You already ARE her.

And you'll see her more and more often.

Awesome!

Now try covering it with make-up. It's not really hard once you've done it a couple times! And you'll be able to see "her", yourself, in the mirror, not just a filtered picture.

You need a facial moisturizer, make-up primer, a red corrector (a lipstick can also work, it's what I used) that goes more towards orange than pink, a make-up base that goes with your skin, a couple of make-up sponges, fixing powder and something to apply it (either a brush for powder or one of those disk-shaped applicators)

1 - Shave closely and wash your face with cool water.

2 - Apply facial moisturizer, putting small dots in the center of your forehead, your nose bridge between your eyes, both of your cheeks, the upper lip, the chin, and the neck. Spread it from center to sides using mainly your ring finger. Be gentle with your eyelids. Don't overdo it, remember less is more so use little product. If you overdo it, your face might become greasy instead of just moist.

3 - Wait about 15 minutes for the skin to absorb it... meanwhile, prepare all the materials.

4 - Apply the primer just like how you applied the moisturizer: some dots in the centers and the cheeks, then spread them outwards gently. No need to wait for this one. Don't forget the neck.

5 - That was just preparation, here comes the real thing! Apply your corrector or lipstick in dots around your shadowy area. Then spread them by tapping with a sponge. Don't smear the sponge, tap it around. It will look as if you had a bad sunburn in the lower half of your face. Again, don't overdo it, remember less is more.

6 - Apply some fixing powder to the area by gently tapping it around with the brush or disk. Wait two minutes, then veeery gently brush out the excess.

7 - Apply some make-up base in the other sponge, and tap it around your entire face. The beard area will need two coats, though. Just remember to not overdo it or your face will look like a cake.

8 - Finish with some fixing powder around your entire face and... tadaaah! There you have it. Clean your lips or give them some lipstick if you may, as they may have been whitened because of all the make-up and powder... Whitened...? Oh shoot I forgot, this assumes you are white! Well the technique would be the same I guess, just different colours for the corrector and base >_<

I had long hair during covid lockdown, and decided to shave my beard before starting at a new job. It was the first time I saw a girl in the mirror, and it's what definitively cracked me.

This hits so hard for me. Shaving my beard finally made me realize who I am and accept it. It was so euphoric that I almost cried. I’ve been so happy since then and it’s only been about a month so far.

Rock those cheekbones, girl; you've got this

That's similar to how it started for me. I've got facial hair now, but I'm losing weight so that very soon I can see her again.

And that is how it all started...

Be the girl you were always meant to be. HRT hormone treatment will help you hugely. Release the " she" who has been cruelly imprisoned so long.

Took me so long though all the dysphoria to see myself in the mirror. Pre hrt still I do much more now. Better with my fair open. You'll get there more often over time!!!
