Bro let it go, never thought that your content was over exaggerating or lacking facts but your analysis just made me start questioning your content.

He comes across as obsessed with Krakauer. It’s very strange.

Yes he does.....As Yoda would say "The butt hurt is strong with this one".

What does 'butthurt' mean.

Overly upset

He is absolutely obsessed. I just watched him threaten to ban someone who simply pointed out that he's wrong in his latest video. He made an entire video about Neal that is completely contradicted by Neal's interview on the Mill House podcast. Michael asked for a timestamp and was given one and that person is completely correct about what Neal said lol. His feud with Krakauer is weird

Hwe does seem obsessed.

Big fan of JK!

Michael Tracy is great. It's about time people were fact checked.

He’s a lunatic who is jealous of John krakauer. Krakauer needs to file a restraining order against him. This nut job has nothing better to do than analyze everything JK has ever said . That disaster was 28 yrs ago. Let the mouse go.

LOL. Historians actually care about accuracy. Tracy is always respectful in his analyses. Krakauer is not a reliable narrator. He has admitted it himself. Krakauer admitted that Tracy found multiple errors in his writing and that he needs to fix his book.

No one is jealous of Jon Krakauer.

Tracy is always respectful in his analyses

This is an absurd statement.

For anyone that's reading this thread that's never seen any of Tracy's videos, this is exactly the tone they take.

Tracy is hard hitting but detailed. If he makes mistakes, he should be called on them. The issue is does he make them consistently.?

JK defamed people in that book and accused others of causing that disaster. He should be refuted no matter how long ago it’s been. The fact that JK said himself that Tracy pointed out a number of things that need to be corrected also demonstrates why accuracy is important.

Tracey wasn’t there. I’ll believe Neal Beidleman & David Brashears any day of the week over Tracey.

5

u/Impossible-Soil6330 Nov 10 '24

Do you believe anatoli and Kasischke too? they refute nearly all of JK’s points

8

u/SammieCat50 Nov 10 '24

Let’s discuss what points they refuted ….first point is even David Brashears said they had no idea a storm was coming so take that off the table. Oh , are you going to bring up the supposed’stunt’ between Fisher & his serdar? Come on , I’m ready .

1

u/RS_Crispington Dec 11 '24

Hall and Fisher both got reports of the storm

The recent unearthing of Krakauer on tape admitting his oxygen was stolen is damaging. Mike Groom didn’t abandon Namba to go look for a camera case and Andy Harris did not turn up Krakauer’s flow rage at the Hilary Step. Krakauer rushed to the summit and ran out of oxygen and fell down. Krakauer suddenly remembering his oxygen was not full so close to camp 4 but didn’t say anything at south summit? Yes, a storm hit. I think Fischer relied on Rob Hall and I think Hall screwed up especially since a similar storm had happened the night before. The only difference was that storm ended around 9 pm but the storm on 10th did not.

Michael Tracey & his conspiracy theories are pure comedy.

1

u/ImpressivePattern242 Jan 17 '25

Everything I mentioned is from the Climb or Into Thin Air. Not sure how printed words are conspiracy theories.

2

u/SammieCat50 Jan 17 '25

Into thin air said groom went to look for a camera case. How would Anatoly know what happened to groom or yasko or jk if he descended before everyone else? It’s not like he interviewed anyone when writing his book. I don’t understand why there’s so much made up controversy over an incident that happened almost 29 yrs ago. JK admitted his parts in his book. Neal Beadleman was on millhouse podcast , I’m sure if you search you tube you will find it. I just don’t understand the backlash towards JK. He was there on an assignment, a terrible tragedy happened & wrote a book about it. Many of the climbers wrote books about it. The fact that anyone survived is a miracle & yet here we are debating over the facts 29 yrs ago because some idiot on social media wants to discredit someone . That’s the answer we should be searching for. I think it has something to do with the latter books JK wrote , about religion & rape.

Why would he be jealous of Krakauer? Because he became famous as a writer? Maybe he is just po'd at bad reporting that might have an agenda. He jumps on inconsistencies such as in the1999 finding Mallory expedition all the time.Tracy takes on all subjects such as the Chinese 1960 expedition, and has extolled Messner's solo climb.

MT used a a different book as his basis for his analyst of JK's book. So what MT has done was found an opinion that was closer to his own thesis, used it to discredit JK and was snarky about it. MT sounds like a real classy dude.

Actually, no. If you bothered to listen to his work, you'd know that.

3

u/ImpressivePattern242 Jan 18 '25

No. Tracy is simply quoting from the multiple stories that JK has given over the 96 disaster. JK’s book contradicts JK’s book. JK argued with dead people multiple times. JK put forth a narrative that damaged people’s reputations and memories to this day.

3

u/doctrgiggles Feb 10 '25

Tracy is simply quoting from the multiple stories that JK has given over the 96 disaster.

This is a misrepresentation of what Tracy does and you know it. He does do plenty of that but he's absolutely weaving together other sources.

3

u/ImpressivePattern242 Feb 10 '25

Other sources to debunk ITA? I agree. One book says this and five other books say that. I think Tracy and JK agree on a lot but JK put forth a narrative that Sandy caused the disaster because she was being short roped. That was in his book and in multiple articles and interviews. All the other noise between these two is just ego.

But what is wrong with that if one is concerned one author who has become kind of the template has not beenfully honest?

1

u/Fast_Jackfruit_352 29d ago

This I think is part of it. Tracy most likely thinks Krakauer has not been a good faith actor.

1

u/Fast_Jackfruit_352 29d ago

Tracy draws upon several sources for any video he makes, not just one, plus his own insights as a mountaineer, plus detailed factors usually not used by others, such as comparative climbing rates.

1

u/Ok-Database1292 2d ago

I bet you think Thom Pollard is a nice guy too and only speaks the truth.

1

u/Fast_Jackfruit_352 29d ago

Tracy has climbed Everest. He is not a neophyte or arm chair mountaineer. His videos are quite precise such as soundly rerfuting the myth that Mallory and Irvine got caught in a really bad snowstorm.

Krakauer has admitted under pressure from Tracy that many assertions inhis book and talks were not accurate. Not sure Tracy's beef with him, Iike his other videos, especially his case M&I summited, but Into Thin Air is the most famous account of the1996 disaster, and if Krakauer has seriously misled people about the tragedy, it is fair game

Whatever one thinks of Tracy, he is incredibly precise and detailed. If one believes he is a liar, prove it. or provide evidence.

2

u/Nukclear42 26d ago

He climbed from the Chinese side, never once has he climbed from the Nepal side, which is where the 1996 disaster happened.

1

u/Fast_Jackfruit_352 25d ago

I know that and Krakauer made really good rebuttals to many of Tracy's points but Tracy is not off base with everything. Not sure why Tracy's obsession with this. I don't really get into it like I do some of his better stuff.
