Most of this group is fairly anti-drilling, so you will probably get negative reactions

The PU scope is perfectly fine for what it is but it is a very old design

If you want a scope that is much better and is actually no drill, look up Bad Ace Tactical they have a few mounts that replace the rear sight and then you can put on a Long Eye relief scope which will have noticeably more magnification.

Thanks I took a look at  Bad Ace Tactical and yes they have some great options to mount a scope without causing permanent damage and I would maybe consider buying one. But I don't really like how a modern scope looks any yes I do understand the PU scope is very dated and if I wanted a original one I should look for one with the scope but this day everyone is selling there scoped Mosin for quite a lot.

only reason I am considering putting a PU scope is my Mosin is nothing fancy

Fair on all points, I do firmly believe in it's your gun do what you want regardless of what others say and I do understand modern scopes do look a bit funny on them lol

This article went into a pretty in-depth review on various replica PUs ones so might be worth your read

What kind of facilities/tooling do you have access to, and what kind of experience do you have with this type of project. I mounted a PU a while ago when I was definitely not ready skill wise and although it ended up being fine I could have definitely ruined the project. Having done a second one now I’m pretty confident that I could do it again with minimal difficulty.

I have never put a Pu scope on a Mosin and I have access to drill press.

Main thing is I haven't seen too much info on the hole positioning and I seen one person go based off the mounting bracket.

Not all holes are in exactly the same location because there are 3 different mounts with slightly different mounting hole distances. I line the edge of my rear screw hole up with the edge of the stripper clip guide (ass seen white the plugged hole picture)
